Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

i keep thinking ill try redux 2 and cm7 again sometime, but then i start thinking about sorting the innitd script, changing my custom mtd and using ext again, and in the end i just dont bother

Im like a mob boss. Make it hard for you to leave.

A few left and their bodies were found floating in the river aire ;)

I've finally got round to flashing the latest version and so far it looks very good, thanks to Dan.

I do have a question about it though. I have been using SetCPU and IncrediControl to control CPU and voltage settings. With the script for the latest version, is that no longer necessary, and/or will they conflict?

If I'm going to switch to a script for cpu speed, I might as well do so for voltage.

Also, and this is not directly related to dGB, but I think there was a conversation about this on this board, so I thought I'd ask here too.

I can't seem to account for about 120Mb (roughly calculated), in the difference between the amount of memory used and the amount used by the applications. I am assuming it's cache somewhere, but I've cleared Dalvik cache and tried a cache cleaner, but only cleared ~3Mb.

Any ideas on this?

Apologies if this has been discussed here, I had a quick look - but a search turned up nothing too obvious.

The script included is the original way before incredicontrol to handle vdd levels. They will conflict in that whichever is called last (presumably the app) will overwrite the one called first. Init.d scripts run once at device init(ialisation). As for the app, not sure.

Dalvik cache is where apps are run from, rather than the apk so its existence is a,requirement. Wiped dalvik cache is rebuilt at boot up so clearing it has little effect on space, except that orphaned dalvik entries will not be rebuilt. But yes this will be taking up space in /data, as will your sms in /data/data/ etc etc

Thank you, yes I'm embarrassed I hadn't worked that out myself.

I cleared the Dalvik cache as I wondered if there was some temp. store in there that would get cleared (like /tmp), but that's obviously not the case.

I hadn't thought of sms, so I've deleted all those and recovered a little.

But there must be something else, as I have 373Mb of space, of which 60Mb is free and I can't find much above 200Mb in the apps part (under Applications | Storage Use).

There's a load of stuff under /data/download - is that Market download stuff that can be cleared?

Any other folders that are known to accumulate temp stuff?

Is there an app that will give a tree view of folder sizes under / ?

Should I take this to a separate thread?

on dGB 1.4, data/local/download will be storing apk's in there, from the market. Cant remember if there was a script in the release to clear it down or not. I had one in my version.

That wont happen any more though.

Check it out.

That's the one, many thanks. I meant to write /data/local/download but missed out the local.

Anyway I've just cleared it and now have 166Mb free again. :)

Liking this version a lot by the way.

Hi SUroot, flashed the rom about 5 days ago & enjoying it but for some reason i cannot connect to wifi. My radio is 5.17.05.23 im using the Manu 1.4 kernel. It doesn't find any wifi broadcasting (mine, families, neighbours, work).

Now i've tried other roms (cm7, Runnymede, leedroid) & they find all the wifi connections in my local area. I have no intentions of changing the rom as i really like it & i have (so called) unlimited data so it's not actually a major problem, just curious to what could be causing it.

for some, the 60MB hboot causes issue. Not sure why. If you are on that, maybe change it to 65. Try reflashiong rom and kernel first though.

Bah, Annoyed. A russian guy said dGB is not worth attention as its just CM7y with stuff deleted.

I cant even sign up to respond because the stupid image thing you have to type in needs russian languuge and keyboard. Grrr

Russian libel

A Russian accusing you of copying cm7, something they would never do hey :)
Google "Buran spacecraft" ............... now where have i seen that before :D

lol its only one ******ed user that clearly doesnt know what he talks about or how to read.
the time of that post you were still running redux source so he just made a guess.
chill winston

Reflashed changed hboot to 65, and at first it didn't detect any networks, but after about 15 minutes of scanning it found the 3 networks in this area (including mine), once disconnected it takes another 10/15 minutes to find the network again.

Like i said it's not a problem im worrying about as i have the data connection & im very much looking forward to seeing what you do with ics

You could always send Rastaman to do a Jason Bourne on his 'ass'. Beat the crap out of him with nothing more than a Desire running dGB.

I've sometimes had issues where my Desire can't find a wireless network for some time after it's switched on - often it will find it and lose it again, and be some time before it eventually finds it and connects. This has happened with every ROM except I *think* the original HTC one (though I wouldn't put money on it not happening on that one).

Anyway, there's an app on market called "Wifi Fixer" which I've found will always enable immediate connect. It runs as a daemon, but you can disable it. I found that when I leave it on, the phone thinks the wireless has been on all night, even though the phone's in airplane mode - I haven't checked whether this is spurious or just a harmless side effect. Anyway, I leave it disabled until I have a connection issue, then turn it on, connect and disable it again at some point later.

I would give it a try though.

Hi.

I've finally taken the plunge and installed this ROM. Seems to be working pretty well and looks impressive. Just a few questions (apologies if any of them have been answered before):

1. Haptic feedback doesn't seem to be working despite the option being selected. Is that a bug?
2. I've added a wallpaper - the same one I used prior to installing this ROM - and while it looked very sharp before it now looks rather blurry. Any suggestions?
3. Is there anywhere I can download the old notification sound?
4. How do I set an MP3 as a ringtone now?
5. On the dGB minisite it advises that we install some fonts into /system/fonts. How do I get to this folder? I can't see it on my SD card.
6. The dBG minisite also has a link to some UI audio stuff, but the link is dead.
