Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

A question about removal...

I'm really starting to love this ROM but next year I'll be changing handsets when my contract ends and will want to return this back to the standard Sense (probably the 2.3 developer build from HTC.) How exactly would I do this now that the HBOOT has been changed?

Yesterday I thought I'd give it a go as a practice and it didn't go well. My first attempt was to try restoring an old nandroid backup from before I installed dGB but that just left my phone stuck on the white screen with the HTC logo. So I went to the Alpharev website and flashed the downgrade HBPOOT (PB99IMG_Downgrade) but despite the flash allegedly working the phone still wouldn't boot. Then with my phone stuck on the HTC logo I tried running the 2.3 RUU and it reported that my phone had <30% battery left (wrong - it was actually around 80%) and wouldn't continue. I reflashed the dGB HBOOT and restored my nandroid and dGB was working again.

So what steps exactly would I have to follow to return this back to a "normal" build in advance of next April?

when you say haptic feedback are you refering to vibration when a message is received? this is not haptic feedback. this is notification and is controlled seperately in the messaging in app for 2.3.5
go into messages>settings>notification settings>vibration and select "always"
if however you are on about the keypresses, this is kb specific and you need to enable it.
on default android kb open up the keyboard in messaging and tap the settings button, enable "vibrate on keypress"

you have to do a few things to change kb's
1st you will need to go to "language and keyboard" and enable the keyboard
after that you need to open an app that has a txt space. hold down on that space and it should say "input method" select the keyboard of choice.

the wall paper, did you use quickpic to do it? dont use the default android method one its rubbish at resizing

Man, you got SOME patience. SALUTE you!!!!!
I guess you know what i mean and why!!!!

flashed back to cm7 - just cauz i hadnt done it for a while - was alarmingly unsettling - need to keep my hand in obviously :)

'how come' - you mean why i flashed cm7? i was jonesing for a rom flash :D

the unsettling bit was just cause i hadnt done it for ages .... and the first flash was bad and phone kept booting ....and i was at work ;)

I can somewhat relate. I want to flash so many roms to try them out but I'm very happy with dgb, so is it worth it? I guess I can't have my cake and eat it :p

Came across an app which allows you to have various Roms loaded on your phone and you just reboot to the one you want. Can't remember the name of it though :-)

is that rom toolbox? i did think about tring that but no one else seemed to be using it so thought better of it :D

....no of course im having to UOT my icons ;)
the market themes still do all that going white if ive got a status change guff :/

Boot manager. I bought this for testing ics builds but didn't work for me with ics. Did for some.

I just don't like the idea that it edits the boot.img so if the Rom you flash extra doesn't boot, you have to flash the boot.img backup you took in boot manager via recovery to boot to your normal Rom. Just as much a faff if you flash experimental Roms

Hi I can't seem to download any MMSs with this ROM, do I have to add any APN Settings?

Cheers

Morning all.

I've potentially come across something which I don't know if its a ROM issue or not. My clock keeps running slow. The last time I corrected it I un-ticked the option to use the time provided via there network and I have just had to correct it again. I've rechecked it to make sure but I'm not holding my breath on this one.

I didn't use Boot Manager - seemed to technical for me.

I did have the issue with the clock running slow, but not on this ROM. I used an app to sync the clock.

A few times recently when I rebooted the phone the clock/date were well out, but I think that was an issue with giffgaff/o2. Sorted itself out.

Dunno. My clock runs off the o2 network, which is running a little behind anyway. About 3 minutes I think

nopeh, cannot autoupdate off the o2 network as it doesnt yet have an autoupdate/time server :P

i can promise you this, there is one in testing internally

the device loses time slowly when powered off for periods of time, its unfortunate but it has always been the case

Mine appears to have only just started running slow. Perhaps in the last 4-6 weeks I've noticed it hence me linking it to the rom. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

What's it getting time from when set to network then?

its not
we even tested to see if it got it from the google servers but it doesnt.

heres a test for you. change the time on the phone then set the time to automatic and restart phone.
