Completely Fair Scheduler vs Brain F**** Scheduler.

Cpu scheduling algorithms, in other words. I've no real recommendation - early GB kernels tended to work better with CFS, but ManU's spent some time tuning these and both work pretty well.

The latest ROM uses a tuned version of the CFS kernel - I know the WiFi power settings are tweaked, don't know for sure what other differences.

Any improvement on the battery life? I haven't tinkered with ther Kernel before - sheer laziness I must confess.

doesnt display correctly as in it starts from 94% and shuts down at dunno how much...not zero for sure.
also using delete battery stats in recovery doesnt work, so i guess the only way is to use the battery calibrator thing properly..thing is - it doesnt work like it should...

You have to be very careful calibrating the battery. There are very specific rules you must follow.

There is a sticky thread in the oxygen forums somewhere that tells you exactly what to do. You have to follow it exactly or you'll end up in a mess... suggest finding then following that guide to correct your issue.

You need to know at what % your phone shuts down as to save time, you run the process 2% before shut down

Lower voltages starting at 900mA.

The cfs I find smooth which is why I integrated it instead of the bfs this time.

I only asked for cfs axi but ev compiled all 4 so may aswell put them up but there's no real need

Okay after a few weeks of running the latest version of dGB, here's my 2p worth...

'KIN AWESOME ROM....

Best, fastest, smoothest, and most stable I've tried.

Phone seems to boot up twice as fast as with the older version I was running. Doesn't lag at all. That was a big problem with the older version.
Still 100MB free space, Even with all my usual apps install.

Kudos Dan for making probably the best GB ROM out there.

Andy.

P.S ice cream sandwich what???

Hi SUroot, just installed and got it where I want it. First impressions is that it seems to live up to its expectations and hype :D! Will let you know after a week or so! Congrats again mate.

Am I right in thinking this kernel stops wifi/3g when inactive? I'm curious because I like to have my 3g on continued for Google talk, push email etc. Any way around this?

Cheers

Oh? It appears to turn off then takes approximately 10 seconds to reconnect to my router? So what does the reduced power do?

Hmm - I'm just putting it down to that my signal is already weak (I'm downstairs and the router is upstairs) and when it's reduced, it loses connectivity. I'll get over it and just keep my 3g on. My phone has been off charge since 9am and been using it a fair amount, and it's on 63%.. I can't complain! :P
I'm not too put out by this, I'm just getting used to the new bells and whistles.

Ps. What's this superfluous checkbox? :P

I am trying to change my bootanimation. I have uploaded my new animation to data/local but all I get is a black screen when I reboot. Once I remove this new bootanimation.zip from data/local the android animation returns. I assume that I will have to remove the bootanimation.zip for this, but for the life of me I can't find the anywhere. Assistance would be gratefully received.

You should try the manu 2.1 I linked though as it does not drop power when screen off. At least that way you will know either way. If you stick with it, we'll need to add a script to modify your voltages though. No big deal.

Its a checkbox I cant get rid of. So I renamed it. It doesnt do anything, hence the name :)

Yep, it supports data/local for boot animation. Should just drop it in there and work. We know its picking it up as it replaces the built in one (Which is NOT a zip or removable b y the way).

Usually a black boot animation means the animation doesnt meet the requirements. Wrong Resolution, Wrong bit-depth of image etc etc.

That said, I havent tested a boot image on the latest version.

I can confirm that the ROM happily handles new boot images and animation, as long as in the right format. My first foray into creating a boot animation has not been as successful as I would like. Also to confuse matters the first two sample boot animations I downloaded didn't work, though the third sample has.

its important to retain the 480 x 800 resolution and a 24 bit png is best...

Thanks for confirming they work though

Ok after reading and reading about this ROM I have started to research on the following:
1. How to s-off
2. How to change partition
3. anything else needed for this ROM

Just so that I can have dGB on my phone.
