Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

One question in regards to this ROM, as I believe it's down to the ROM as opposed to the phone.
Can this support numerous Bluetooth connections? I'm getting a new car on Saturday (Woohoo!) which supports both Bluetooth calls and has a 3.5mm aux point to connect my phone for music. But I don't want a wire, so I've bought myself a Bluetooth reciever for this so I can stream music wirelessly. So, can I stream music and still have it hooked up for phone calls?

Honestly no idea, sorry. I haven't change Bluetooth in any way so however it is as standard is how it is here.

Been using this rom for some time and it was my first for me rooting. Is there
An easy way to swap from the version that gives you 125mb free space (which I have) to the one that gives over 300mb?

Could someone list the exact steps.

Thanks W

It's the same ROM, so to get more storage you need, as Jon has said, to change hboot (or custom mtd, but hboot is easier).

Have a look at the root memory faq.

Hi all!

Finally got round to flashing SU's hboot and dGB rom, but I have a few problems.......

1: I dont have a system/media/audio/ui folder to drop the audio files into

2: I tried to copy the font file using Android Commander, but it told me there was not sufficient space!!!!

If anyone can point me inthe direction of where I have gone wrong, I'd be grateful!

Which hboot did you flash? If it was the 60MB one there won't be very much spare space in /system.

And no, mine doesnt have a /system/media/audio/ui folder either. Mind you, I hate UI sounds so it's something I empty when stripping ROMs down, and I guess SUroot feels the same :)

yeah it was the 60mb - is the font file needed?

I have created the ui directory for the audio files, camera is making a noise as expected, but lock screen doesnt. Not a massive issue, but its nice to have! Is it something I need to enable?

Otherwise, what a fantastic rom!! Cheers SU :D

I haven't tried the lock screen sounds before. I simply removed them at source. The lock screen has changed a lot since then.

ah right, thats fair enough, as I said, not too fussed. The plus point hugely outweigh a few minor things like that! Awesome rom SU, cant believe I waited this long to do it!

After nearly begging you guys for google maps I can install outside market, ended up removing it after a week. Read some saddening news about PVT1 and over heating. Unfortunately mine was no different. On top of that, the Maps app and it's friends persist to run in the background, so sad but had to say goodbye. >_> Just wanted to rant. I apologize all you nice fellows had to endure it.

Anyway, I witnessed something bizarre this morning. I had the desk clock apk since installing dGB 11072011 and was retained after upgrading directly to 01_28_2012 at least a week ago. After my alarm went off, I did my usual morning routine. After an hour, took out the desire to snap some pics and behold... it was displaying the enter SIM PIN screen. A gray square with '!' icon is beside a grayed out signal bar with 'x' beside it. I'm guessing the desire rebooted after dismissing the alarm.

This is the first time ever something like this happened. The last unusual thing I did with it since installing dGB was connecting to a (painfully slow) public wifi hotspot using the built in web browser. The last time I upgraded my small list of apps was about a week ago. Attached is my battery stat. That little blue on wifi was at the hotspot. I didn't notice anything when the (first) thin red line is at. My guess the desire rebooted cuz the green outline on the graph kinda teleported down at the time the thick red line appeared.

Please help me find out how this happened? I don't know where to look or what file to open, so any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Droidwars, is the font file you are installing the DroidSansFallback.ttf from SURoot's google site? It would be around 3.6 MB. I concur with Hadron. In addition, this font contains Chinese and Japanese characters. Text that use such language font will appear as hollow square character on screen if you do not have it installed. But unless you need such font, you might be happier with the extra 5 MB space.

Im also getting these random reboots every 2-3 days same as Crystalynn. Will add additional info soon...

The easiest way to change the font in my opinion is to use uot, that way your not adding anything extra, simply replacing.
I use the 65mb hboot as it gives me that little bit extra in system.

hmmm JDY did yours reboot after the alarm?

what pvt versions are you both?

what closck speed are you running at?

can you list the apps installed?
im yet to have a reboot on mine

Hi Rastaman-FB

I narrated what happen as much as I can remember before I realized the SIM PIN was showing. I apologize if my post implied the alarm clock as the culprit and possibly mislead you guys.

To answer your questions:

what pvt versions are you both?
--PVT1

what clock speed are you running at?
--I installed this kernel after the upgrade to 01_28_2012, but I don't tinker the Hz. In OS Monitor, scaling range is 245000 ~998400. Governor is ondemand.

can you list the apps installed?
--ak notepad, astrid tasks, barcode scanner, bathing cat, calorific, clock, discounts, file expert, financisto, fing -network tools, gmail, go calendar widget, go launcher ex, go sms pro, google search, google+, gps status, handy calc, instant heart rate, itriage, k-9 mail, moboplayer, mr. number, os monitor, out of milk, quickpic, realcalc, teamviewer, terminal emulator, touchpal keyboard, ttpod, ulysse gizmos, waze, world weather clock widget.

also, os monitor says:
/system 94.3% used
/data 31.9% used
/sdcard 32.8% used
/cache 15.2% used

During my latest update last week, I also installed 3 apps: moboplayer, ttpod and winamp. It was all spontaneous. Tried them all at that night only, then uninstalled winamp.

Reboots were random, sometimes during browsing the web others times while the phone was in my pocket.. not after the alarm had gone off.

See image below of battery graph:

Crystal, can't see link to other kernel. Cant support other kernels, packaged one is best.

Jdy, browsing is usually heat or overclock related. Idle is voltage related. Have you changed voltages or left as default?

In terminal emulator, what is output of:

cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/vdd_levels_havs

Nope. Need set CPU or similar to overclock.

How many times has it done it under load? How many times idle?

Only once idle in the last month for so maybe 4-5 times while doing something, not always browsing but that has triggered it 2-3 times. Sorry I can't provide much info its just they are very random. Ill have a better look next time it reboots to see if anything shouldn't be running etc.

O and also whenever I reboot my apps preferences are removed, like my selection for what gallery I want use and web browser...

OMg, I forgot to paste the kernel. >_< So sorry, but I used one from your site: dGB-2.1-EViollet-GB-HAVS-AXI-128-CFS.zip

I tried the cat in my terminal and it looks the same as JDY.

In my case, I was not using the phone when it happened. Just turned off the alarm. But maybe the Desire can become under load even if no one is using it (idle)?

Btw, I always quick press the power button to turn off the screen after offing the alarm.
