Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

hey thanks, I tried that earlier but got the same issue. I just tried it again and now getting error Run nandriod-mobile.sh restore via adb

I take it this is not good?
< this is sorted now, the battery was flat....:o

Ive noticed something. The issue of the boot loop comes about when the sd card is being readied. If I take the sd card out and power up the phone boots up fine, but naturally I get a few force close warnings for apps that the phone cant find.

Whats the best thing to do guys???

Does it still do it? Sometimes the first nandroid backup people take causes a bootloop, which is fixed by restoring the nandroid, but this is a one-time problem. So if it's still doing that, then it's something different.

its still doing this. Yesterday all was fine and all I did was update my APN settings which I doubt this would affect??? This morning the phone was fine too, I thought I'd nandroid backup as I had the phone how I wanted it. And then when I rebooted the phone I got this fault. Bit confused!!!!

Clearly its something I have done as this ROM is brilliant, as are all of you for helping me out!!!! I'll admit to being out of my depth, I feel like one of the Goonies LOL

Got to admit that if it were the "first nandroid" thing I don't think the SD card would make a difference. So the question is, what's wrong?

The thread http://androidforums.com/desire-all...oads-root-users-updated-22nd-july-2011-a.html has a download link for h2testw, a windows flash card testing utility. You could use that to check that there's no corruption on the card. The password for the download can be found in post 130 of that thread. If you haven't got a card reader and can't boot the phone with the card in, boot into recovery and mount the card from there.

If you can't find any problem with the card, then I guess there must be some app or data on the card that's been corrupted. If we can't think of anything else, a factory reset would likely fix that, but leave you having to set up again :(. Just as a wild spin of the wheel you could try wiping the cache and the dalvik cache first - very much doubt that would do it, but you never know. Since it boots without the card I can't see that reflashing the ROM would help.

Maybe SUroot will have some other ideas?

ok cool. i think I'll just back the card up. I cant get on the market to get TI but its no erall issue if I loose the apps. i can install them again once I've redone things. Should I defo use your Hboot??

Many thanks for your suport, you gyus are awesome

You need to be S-Off to use the hboot. It's the way to get the most from the ROM, but do the reading before doing it & don't be afraid to ask questions first. It's simple to do, but is definitely advanced modding so you want to understand it first.

hahaha brilliant, I did read up on the SD-off but its hard to take it all whne your 3 year old is trying to help by prssing buttons and your 7 week old is screaming!!! Of course the wife loves it when I'm on the laptop!!!!!

I'm gonna sort this but it might take me a few days to get things in place. Till then maybe formating the card is the answer?

SU - had another go with dGB last week and really starting to like it, best bit for me is the stability, probably not used it long enough to fully judge battery usage yet.

Couple of things - I liked the option under newer market to auto-update over wifi only, so wondered if i can add market updater apk from Redux into ROM and re-flash as I've only extracted apks via 7-zip before, does adding apks also work?

Have generated slightly bigger sys partition (70MB) using thalamus tool 'cos i can't be arsed to fastboot larger partition again, restore a nandroid, Ti back-up market/market updater from Oxygen etc

And can you sort out the squinty storage lines on Ti home screen for me ;):)?

On a serious note, the lightness, speed and stability is great - and i mean no disrespect by the question about adding a couple of things back in!

I'd personally recommend installing a market update from SD card. Thats what I did, then I control when it updates (Except for play which they managed to push out anyway). Just download newest market from XDA somewhere and install.

I'll be honest, I am not sure if I will be making any further updates

I'll be honest the S-Off seems a little bit beyond me. Is there an idiot guide somewhere, cos as I haved proved on countless times its all I can get my head round LOL!!!

In that case, I will report back when I attempt to do it. Happy to help, SU :D

A quick update on this for anyone who is interested. I can establish at least 2 bluetooth connections on this. ROM. Was a bit of a battery killer (no surprise!) but had my phone linked up to a bluetooth audio receiver and speakerphone on my car with no issues. My music stopped streaming as soon as I made a call. After about 15 minutes my battery was down about 9%.. But I was doing a lot of fiddling around.
Nice set up for a long drive though.

Yep, everything you need is accessed via the main Root guide sticky. Read, absorb, follow - start with the general info on hboots at top, and then either AlphaRev or Revolutionary depending on your current hboot version ;) (take some time learning a bit about these elements will help you and us if you run into problems).

I think I just get scared by the terminology, I'm a wannabe tech geek but I lack the actual tech knowledge :P HAving to run VM player was an additional headache for me, I think its dented my have a go hero mentality :(

I will try and get my phone to where it was at the weekend. have just formatted my card so will try again and then read the FAQ again...again :P Ultimatelty I'll be happy to have the phone working and then look to make the most of this ROM by going S-off once I fully undertand things.

Yeah, there's no need to rush. If it makes you feel better, I was rooted for about 6 months before I tried S-Off :)

Read the root memory faq a few times, then ask us about anything that isn't clear. It's not that it's complicated to do, but what S-Off gives you is write access to bits of the phone you couldn't modify before, and that of course brings exciting new ways of messing things up if misused ;). That's why we recommend understanding it before doing it.

Hi, Your Rom is excellent ! great work !

i would like to try to compile my own oxygen to test.

can you tell us what is you locale setting when compiling minimal rom ?
i would like to have only the default English locale + french so what is your Product_locales config please ?

can you confirm your rom is HDPI only ?

best regards an keep going on !

For the English Only, I used this folder structure:

Code:
dan@laptop02-Ubuntu:~/android/dGB1.6/frameworks/base/core/res/res$ ls
anim              drawable-en-mdpi    drawable-ldpi   layout-port    values-mcc220  values-mcc262
color             drawable-hdpi       drawable-mdpi   raw            values-mcc230  xml
drawable          drawable-land-hdpi  drawable-nodpi  values         values-mcc232  xml-en
drawable-en-hdpi  drawable-land-ldpi  layout          values-mcc204  values-mcc234  xml-land
drawable-en-ldpi  drawable-land-mdpi  layout-land     values-mcc219  values-mcc260  xml-mdpi
..and:
Code:
dan@laptop02-Ubuntu:~/android/dGB1.6/packages/apps/Settings/res$ ls
drawable       drawable-hdpi-finger  layout         layout-land  values-nokeys
drawable-hdpi  drawable-mdpi         layout-finger  values       xml
Then in /build/target/product/languages_full.mk I have:
Code:
PRODUCT_LOCALES := en_GB
Where as in Multi-Lang, /build/target/product/languages_full.mk:
Code:
PRODUCT_LOCALES := en_GB fr_FR it_IT de_DE es_ES nl_NL pl_PL pt_PT sv_SE da_DK nb_NO
For each on those additional languages:
in frameworks_base, you need a Raw-xx, a Values-xx and Values-mccnnn-xx.
In Settings, you need an xml-xx, Values-xx and Values-xx-nokeys

Hope that helps.

:lol: Love the exciting new ways to mess things up :p

50% courage + 35% comprehension + 15% determination = s-off :)
That made me laugh too :lol:

For the record I formatted the sd and re-flashed and I'm back in :D I just need to redo the APN, but have dowloaded APN backup to repvent further mishaps :P

I am well impressed with my battery life, at a point when the phone normally shut down I have 55% life or 18hrs according to Juiceplotter app

Help please, i would love to use dGB
the thing is, i cant connect to WIFI, its stuck at "Obtaining IP adress.."
i already Wiped Everything even SD, Re flashed ROM, Tried Manu Kernels but still i cant get connected. thanks

@doubletaz

Hi there, I also get that when there's no AP the Desire can connect to. Under Wi-Fi settings, I tapped on an AP to connect (if unsecured) or to input PSK (if secured).

In case it's not the same problem, please accept my apologies.

@anyone with PVT1

I don't usually play games with my Desire granted the iPad gave a very spoiling experience any smaller screen can never insatiate. But after the iPad found a new master, I thought I'd give touch screen gaming a try again. So I got Princess Punt (which reminded me of a game I enjoyed - Nanaca Crash lol) and to my HORROR, the phone hanged and was feverish.

I thought the over heating problem was limited to the radios? :(
