Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

what Dan said :-D

no, actually just had no signal bars and a X over that icon.
couldn't receive calls. but data.still seemed to work

'tis odd, because the radio firmware doesn't just fail. What happens if you (a) toggle airplane mode (b) reboot (c) try another SIM?

BTW apologies for 24 hour response time - I'm not in my normal time zone this week.

hi Hadron.
:-D no worries at all

I replaced the sim recently hoping that would fix the issue.
airplane mode toggle doesn't restore it but reboot does

cheers
dan

SU - know it's already been said but I'm impressed with the battery life I'm seeing with dGB. Does the specific kernel lower wifi voltages with screen-off?

Whatever magic you cooked up with evoillet definitely works - so, just really wanted to add my own thank you to the list

Well the AXI from ev's manu 2.1 lowers the bus to 19.2 mhz (I think) when screen off, which in turn causes the CPU clock to become that mhz too.

In addition, for me - ev has removed the WiFi full power when screen off (a la manu 1.4) and set the kernel default voltages to values I specified.

doh! radio just failed :( gonna have to flash me a new radio i guess - still using stock one

I'm curious about this one Dan. There's another thread regarding radios seeming to just "die". Were you doing things which may have caused this?

hi Jon.
yes it is an odd one.doesn't happen to often at moment.
think I was probably playing word feud ;-)

OK I promised to report back on the gps issue........ so here goes.

To be 100% clear, the GPS worked fine in things like Google nav, maps, etc etc..... no issues at all. But with Sports tracking apps (Strava, Sports Tracker and Endomondo all tried) it either wouldnt wake up from screen off and needed battery out to wake it up, or the app just stopped.

All seems to be ok now, but I'm still not 100% why. I wiped everything, reinstalled, didnt bother restoring as it was simpler to put things back manually (hadnt been using dGB that long)...... and I have tracked 2 rides on Endomondo without issue.

So, my thinking is it had something to do with either power saving, (using either GO widget or dx Battery Saver) or there was a load of rubbish GPS/app data, or maybe something to do with it wanting a GPRS signal to maintain a lock? I dont know!! First time I used Endomondo after wipe it took an age to find GPS signal, so I downloaded GPS tool and it worked a treat after.

Anyway, all is good, and dGB is super smooth and fast :) And battery life is awesome - seems pointless running battery save apps anyway, even with gps/gprs running for ages.

Yeah, DX Battery saver seemed to work well when I was running Mildwild. But yesterday, from 100%, I tracked another 1.5 hour ride, watched some downloaded video, did a little web browsing and made two calls........battery still at 55% this morning after being in plane mode overnight. That is awesome:D

Is there a way for me to install support for Japanese characters on this ROM? I use Simeji (a Japanese keyboard) along with a couple of Japanese dictionary apps quite heavily, and all Japanese characters just show up as blank boxes in dGB (both in apps or just on web pages). I do have the multi-lang version installed. I'm wondering if it's something simple like a missing font.

Did you install the full fallback font from the dGB mini-site? That would be my first suggestion
Ah, yeah, I see now. I was using the 60MB hboot, so it was failing to copy over since there wasn't enough room. Switched to the 65MB one and that's got it sorted. Thanks!

Just realised, so setcpu might interfere with this? Had it set at 128min 998max, with a screen-off 128min 384max - is that defeating the point, so i should disable profile and set on boot (swear i'm seriously slow this month)? This mean batt should improve even more?

Hypothetical Scenario.

I'm currently on the 60/mb Hboot.. If I was to change to a custom MTD or different hboot will I have to reinstall the rom/nandroid a back up? Or will it just automatically apply?

Just curious :)

You'll need to nandroid backup and restore with both methods... Hboot will be easier.

Why? Do you think you need more space on system? I can help you get around that if you do.

Well, I would like to have the MildWild browser. Even choppng out the default browser and MMS app, there is still not enough room. Out of curiousity, I put on the Mildwild Calculator, but have 296kb left. I believe the Browser is in excess of 800k.
Now I've got a few days off, I'm going to do some personalisation I think.

Hmmm....Which MW is the browser in? Is it much different? I can have a play to confirm what I think will work, will work (i.e symlink from data/app to system app like I do with google search)
