Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

It was the 3.7 beta build. It wasn't vastly different but it had the auto reflow after pinch zoom and just seemed a bit more my cup of tea.

Hi

I 'm using this ROM with Custom hboot & the kernal that came with it.

My Desire is a year old one n have a bad battery backup [12 hrs] (could be because of battery is getting weak)

I will be buying new stock battery (1400mah)

I also have the mobo heating issue and out of warranty. So suggest me the best kernal for this rom

For best battery backup with new battery
To keep to cpu clock speed to minimum when idle or little use.

I 'm going to upgrade to One x n my mom will get my desire. Her usage is very minimum

Just Calls, messaging, only one email sync (2G) & Talking tom app. She won't use cam, music or any other app

So suggest me the best kernal for this needs

thanks

The kernel that comes with this rom is a modified version of my favourite kernel, which in my opinion is the best kernel available for this rom.

Is it definitely overheating issue? Does it get really hot? What did you overclock it to?

Thanks for the reply friend

It gets hot while charging, stays cool when idle n gets little hot when on calls ... It gets really hot when playing lighter games like angry birds, plant vs zombies etc.

About battery i have tried every tweak available, evn calibrated the battery. With this rom after calibration, My desire gets off when the battery is below 5%. But still the battery backup is 12 - 18 hrs. I don't want to mess it anymore. I believe that this is the right time for the new battery. I will change the battery to a new one before giving it to my mom and also decided that the stock battery is enough for her needs ...

thanks

Thanks. What I wanted to do was to drop the browser in data/app and symlink it to system/app. Unfortunately this browser doesnt even work in system/app. So even if you had enough space, you couldnt use it. Sorry.

Bummer. Thanks for having a look anyway :)

@SUroot

Hi friend

How's your desire's battery backup, looks like you 're running dual operating systems in your desire (Ubuntu n your rom)

Are you using an extended battery?

thanks

All I can say is it lasts all day without a charge usually. From leaving the house to going to bed (with usually around 2 hrs screen on time).

My new job is in a weak signal area though so I am taking a hit for that.

Standard battery. Overclocked to 1113Mhz, (min 128mhz).

I started using this ROM since January and I found that it is the best ROM for my Desire, much lighter and faster than other non-sence-based / AOSP rom.

The only thing I would like to ask is if it is possible to make the ROM to support Wireless N (IEEE 802.11 N).

Background
There is a 802.11b/g/n router in my house, i tried some rom before that is able to add the wireless n support by flashing one more file after flashed the ROM file (I am not sure if it is called flash Kernel), and there is a big different of both wifi signal and speed in my bedroom before and after flashing this WifiN support. That's is why I would like to know how can I add the WifiN support in this dGB ROM (Currently the Wifi Signal shown on my dGB-Desire in the badroom is quite weak, I'm sure the N function of my Desire is still not being enabled)

The Desire only has 802.1 b/g doesn't it ? (A quick trawl of Specs sites seems to agree with me). I suspect that's why your "n" isn't being enabled (and why SUroot should probably not waste his time supporting it).

Thats right, but some cheaper routers can only do N or G not both at the same time. You should still be able to connect a G device on these routers if they broadcast N. I think this is the support he is requesting.

Damn you rootSU!!! You got me hooked on the incredible speed of your ROM and now I can't move on! All ROMs I try look like snails in comparison so I keep ending up coming back to dGB :)

Sorry about that. Here is a work around:

1) Underclock dGB to 844MHz and run for 1 month.
2) Flash replacement ROM
3) Clock to 1113MHz

After hearing a lot about dGB from people in this forum for whom I have a lot of respect for, I decided to use this. I have been using it for few days only. My first few observations:

1. Wow it is light!!! there are hardly any apps. This was a +ve and a -ve for me. +ve because there is no bloat, use seems snappier. -ve because as basic apps were missing I had to download what I wanted.
2. No APN setting. This is not really a problem with the ROM. But I had a bit of difficulty setting up everything for 3 UK and still not sure if I have done it right because the phone keeps losing data connection. Today it even lost network connection. But as I said it may be 3 UK problem.
3. Market crashed. Force close and clearing data was not an option! Fortunately I have a titanium backup of Google play and this worked.
4. I think to get the best out of this ROM, you need to have custom partitions. I have s-off but am still on stock Hboot, so I am not using the app as it should be. This is why I am finding that I have already filled up the internal space of the phone with just basic apps.

I am willing myself to love this ROM. If I love it enough I will have to dive into the world of custom Hboots.:D

change the hboot, and you'll love it even more

I've got the 65mb hboot and I've downloaded and installed 56apps and still have 58mb space (that's with none moved to SD

Dgb is one thing I'll certainly miss when i upgrade at the start of June

Its my favourite rom by far too but to get the most out of it, the custom hboot/MTD is definitely the way to go (I'm using the 60mb hboot option) . To change the hboot appears to be quite daunting but as you're S-Off, the majority of the work is done. Using the guides and faqs here to accomplish this through fastboot you can't go wrong. Alternatively you can use Android Flasher, and which uses the same principle as fastboot but has a user friendly interface. Just make sure you're happy with everything before proceeding!

You plan on updating Market?

Not really. Just install it if you want. I'm not really going any further with this ROM. I'm waiting to upgrade and all my android energy is focused there right now.

1) Downloading your own apps is the entire point. If there was an app for everything, you'd have 1 app you wanted and 4 you didnt. Plus many "included" apps have much better counterparts on the market.

2) Restore the nandroid from your previous rom and then download "APN Backup and Restore" from the market.

4) Yup the hboot is definitely a Must IMHO. dGB fits in your current /system partition over 4 times. It's bouncing around in there ;)
