Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

Tgenius, I have no access to an exchange server, and thus no way to test it. While I could probably find someone with one that would let me connect to theirs I doubt I'll be putting much time into this until much later in the cycle, if ever.

Right now my focus is on the GPS; there have been a number of areas of progress but nothing major in the last few days; the biggest change is that the auto backlight parameters are now user-editable under CM7's setitngs screens and thus you can change how you want it to behave (e.g. if you want the buttons on or off for given ambient light levels, etc)

I will probably not push a new version up until I have either GPS or MMS working, although that might change. When something of significance is fixed it'll get uploaded.

I've had no problems with 1x or 3g data at all other than an occasional drop that the base ROM does too, and which appears to be a Sprint thing. If you go into and then back out of airplane mode it clears.

I am running CM7 basically all the time excepting when I need the GPS service and send and receive a LOT of SMS messages. MMS, as noted, is broken though at present.

hey great work. I believe there is a Google exchange server. I used it to sync google apps to my old WM 6.5 device.

Awesome news, and yes I think it'd be wise not to release another update until another major milestone has been passed (GPS/MMS/etc).

I'm wondering if maybe the issue with the 3G/1X could possibly be a regional thing? I'm in Sacramento, CA I haven't had a single drop on the stock install (even on times where people have said there were issues on the network). Yet on every release so far from the CM7 rom when my phone is off for ~15-20 mins, when it's turned back on the 3G icon is white (not green) and I have no data. This is a constant repeatable thing, it's not just a once in a while fluke. Honestly I could live without GPS, it's not a issue for me, although I think it may be for some others. I care more about MMS and data.

I am in Sacramento also, and I get the 1X drop occasionally

Oh and the green/white from what I understand is when it is connected to the google servers, it is green

Correct.

When it's white on a wake, however, it's odds-on to have lost the network. It's a bug in the radio code and not fixable without a flash of that by Moto; when the phone goes into a fringe signal area while sleeping it occasionally will lock up in the radio although it shows signal. It's actually dead for BOTH data and voice - if you try to call someone or they try to call you it won't go through. It appears to have something to do with a failed handoff between towers while asleep; I can somewhat-reliably reproduce it in a specific area right near my home.

Going into and out of airplane mode fixes it as that power-cycles the radio hardware. The same problem occurs with the stock VM load - I had it happen a bunch of times. CM7 is more-resistant to it, but not immune.

The good news is that on a wake you can see instantly if it happened, as the color changes. On the stock load you don't find out until you try to bang out a data access and it fails.

Correct.

While I certainly experience the data drops, I have never not been able to make a call, even when I was not able to connect to the network.

Out of curiosity, what happens when you try to make a call when VOICE isn't working?

Same for me.

Ticker, when it comes back from sleep for the length of time, I won't have data, but my calls/sms still always work

This doesn't happen to me at all on stock.

im using it everyday and im not complaining in fact it works rather well for me(theres a few features missing but i know it will be fixed). the way i would thank is pretty much kissing your feet for everything you have done. again i thank you guys.

What advantage does the current build have over stock? Are you running it "just to run it"?

What advantage does the current build have over stock? Are you running it "just to run it"?

there are a 7 reasons...
1)it is overclocked
2)i can get updates from cm7 instead of the stock
3)the camera on the front doesn't work on stock but will hopefully run soon on cm7
4)custom themes
5)stock sucks
6)support for cm7
7)i feel comfortable with the current build than the previous ones

all in all it is not done but will be soon and i am waiting anxiously.

It doesn't? Since when? I've used mine many times!

Since when I first got the phone. I ran it and crashed unexpectedly. I reset my phone and it still didn't work so I used a new rom still didn't work. I tried to update the feature no good. Used about 5 camera apps no good. So I will have to wait and see if I can get another phone or wait for this forum to release a build of the camera working I'm crossing my fingers. And yes It was over 30 days ago.

Other than overclocking (which I don't want, seems to just kill battery life) I don't see anything there worthwhile. The updates are just fixing things that aren't broken in stock, I don't use themes, and "stock sucks" and "support for CM7" are beliefs, not reasons to do things with a cell phone.

If there was a compelling reaosn I was going to flash to this and try it out, but if those are the best "reasons" to do so, I'll just wait patiently until CM7 is fully cooked and ready to go.

If you haven't already noticed, im going to try and make a port of miui based on this ROM. So thank you very much for it!

You want reasons, here's some

1 It's gingerbread
2 that gives you better power and battery life than stock (in my case much better in both)
3 it has more customization features built in than you'd imagine (ability to choose long press actions on soft key and volume rockers for different actions, etc. the list goes on and on)
4 from what I've noticed a bit more reliable signal
5 if you were to look at roms like cars stock would be brand new ford focus and this build of CM7 would be a Lamorghini with a cracked windshield (not perfect but still sooo much better)

This rom is leaps and bounds better than stock despite its few issues I started using it and never looked back!

You've mentioned several times you and "your friends" who also got the phone have reported no issues and they have worked fine. Now you say your front camera never worked nomatter what? Sorry buddy, a ROM wont likely fix that. You should have exchanged your Triumph. If you can, go get a new one. The front camera is supposed to work on a stock build, if it doesnt then you have a defective product. Its like you bought a car and the door falls off every time you open it, but you say "its okay, it'll get fixed eventually.":confused::confused:

If you haven't gotten it to work yet, then it is a hardware issue, and you need to call VM for anew phone

Has anyone who's running the PA CM7 noticed a better battery life due to the cell standby not struggling to try and find a tower or going into no signal mode all the time?

I'm very curious if CM7 can help fix a lot of the antenna issues we've got that affect battery life and signal strength :) Thanks

Correct.

what u described never happened with stock rom on my triumph. and with cm7 when 3g icon is white i can still make call and send sms...

seems like something else is wrong......

Thanks again for the update tickerGuy, looks like gps and mms are tougher than I thought it would be for you knock down. Oh well, it will come sooner or later. stay with it :)

Intercepter, they are. The GPS is particularly nettlesome and is where my time is going right now. I can talk to it but it won't get the AGPS data to init - and while it can occasionally "see" a couple of satellites without it the chip also is not grabbing the ephermis and almanac from the birds and thus won't lock.

I know what's failing, but not why and calling this particular part of the code "convoluted" would be an insolt to intentionally-obfuscated coders everywhere.

MMS is merged but not working correctly. Again, debugging it is a pain in the butt as I did not write the original code I merged in and it's not exactly clear where the problem with it is. Those are the areas consuming my time at the moment - there are other small problems and a few have been fixed but nothing worth posting an update on either.

I never had haptic turned on for the stock rom; check the settings screen for CM7 and see if its in there.

When I get a radio lockup on either stock or CM7 a call appears to work but there's no voice. Never tried an SMS. It's not a problem in all areas - I need to be in a specific part of town for it to happen and the signal there is REALLY crappy.

When I get something materially improved I'll post it. I had a PM report that someone got a MMS (received) on CM7 - that shouldn't have worked, and if it did I'm even more unhappy as that means behavior is different depending on where you are on the network, which will make me very not-pleased.

That would be awesome and re.tarded all at the same time :( It could also explain why some of us have these dumb data issues.

i happy to know someone is on my side. i mean there is so much you can do on cm7 than stock. stock is just stock. cm7 is an endless list of ideas and possibilities. like i said before you get support for cm7 not stock. the people who work on the stock rom will just have no optimistic feelings to the it. the guys here on cm7 are always enthusiastic about their work and wish to make it interesting and even more customizable and user friendly.
