Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

go to android market and type in "file manager" and choose you app
go to the directory and select delete on the files.

Never thought to use File Manager. I'd tried using Root Explorer to do it but it claimed the SD card was in read only mode. File Manager did not make such a claim. Thanks!

Can someone explain how to connect to a closed wireless network? If that could be fixed that would be awesome, but in the meantime I'll do what I need to do at my end. Not being able to connect to my home wifi is the only thing keeping me from switching over.

i was planning on getting the Motorola triumph on black Friday or on Christmas but the other day i took a pulse survey on virginmobile.com and they said they are coming out with 2 new phones so i decided i would wait and with some of the problems people were reporting would wait to see if they are fixed. i been following this thread and have to say good work ticker guy and Issac. anyway the lg optimus slider for virgin mobile wa just announced.

Virgin Mobile - LG Optimus Slider No-Contract Mobile Phone - Black - LG OPTIMUS SLIDER

do you think i should wait till like January or February for a better phone to come out.

thanks all opinions welcome.

edit: i didnt mean i was getting the optimus slider the triumph is better thhat that phone. i was just saying that one of the 2 new phones they mentioned is coming out. so i was wondering if the second will be better than the triumph. im not sure i might give in and not be able to wait it out.
The second phone is the HTC Wildfire S. Fairly comparable to the Optimus V. Rumor has it VM will be getting the LG Optimus Black around Christmas or so, which has specs fairly comparable to the Triumph.

That is a nice surprise for sure! I really hope tickerguy goes back and re-visits 3g data and wifi and makes them more stable. I tried making this my daily but the data dropping just wasn't cutting it and I like my wifi on all the time (I am not complaining mind you) this is just a wish for item.

Keep up the good work tickerguy.

Do you guys know anything about permissions? Cause I have a file (wpa_supplicant) that I set permissions for. On boot the permissions change. This causes the wifi to error. How do I make them stick?

The Wildfire will be (IMHO) a better choice than the Optimus primarily because it has more internal storage. That's the big problem with the Optimus. However, that limited CPU is still going to bite to a material degree. Don't get me wrong - I like the Optimus a lot (my kid loves hers) but it's underpowered compared to what I've gotten used to, which is why I'm doing this work on the Triumph, even with all its warts - and some of them are quite-large warts.

The black is not that impressive from what I've seen, but it might wind up a worthy competitor to the Triumph in terms of actual functionality and capability. We'll see.

The issues that I'm aware of and those in the github list will get attention eventually, but not on a concerted basis until all the basic functionality components are working. Some of them, especially if they're also present in the base load, may not be fixable as they may ultimately trace to something in the radio or wifi code that we don't have source for. In some cases you can work around those nasties, but not in all cases, and Moto has not released that source. In at least one case (camera code) I asked specifically on their forum for the source and they refused, so "cooperation" isn't something we can expect.

The problem I have right now with the FFC is in two parts - one has to do with orientation of the image from the FFC (it's inverted vertically) and the fact that the vendor code is ignoring the parameters that should correct it, and the other is that I ran into a second lockup problem last evening during testing. Both are serious problems for obvious reasons so until I can fix them I'm holding the update file. Figuring out why the FFC wouldn't init required tracing this all the way down to the kernel drivers - Foxconn modified a lot in the kernel driver area of this device and without what Moto released we'd have been completely screwed in trying to get this thing going and might have actually blown up hardware more than once. Be warned if you're doing things for the kernel of this phone or considering trying to graft in a kernel from something else - there are comments in the kernel driver source implying that changes were made to gpio parameters to avoid hardware damage. The GPIO parameters, among other things, control voltages sent to some of the peripherals (e.g. cameras) and oscillator frequencies. Needless to say grafting in a later kernel source version is not going to be a "drop-in" deal and for this reason I would not attempt to, for example, drop a HTC-device kernel into one of my builds. It might come up and in doing so literally blow up the phone's internal peripheral devices.

Great work so far guys... I tested the rom out for a couple days but the wifi/3G flakiness made me switch back to stock. Hoping these issues are cleared up soon.

Anyone else having a problem with the backlight never shutting off? It's really annoying, aside from that I love cm7, blows stock away. Thanks for everything guys!

I have an suggestion/opinion/question.

I would love to have a LED notification light for when Bluetooth is on...

Can it be done?

The Triumph has VERY few light colors, (red, orange, and green I think). I guess it could be done, but you would have to sacrifice 1/3 of your LED notification colors.

Seriously, Ticker. I'm starting to starve over here. Literally and figuratively. *continues pressing refresh button*

just throwing this out there I have juice defender beta when it sleeps the 3g is turned off when it wakes it comes back on so no need to toggle back and forth

Hey Ticker,

What is the website we go to so we can bug the crap out of motorola to get them to release the rest of the code..? And which codes do we still need released...? Thank you in advance.

If anyone else can answer please feel free.

EVERYONE must help to get the codes released so we can make things easier on Tickerguy. without everyones help motorola will ignore our request.

Technically, it only has RED and GREEN. The other colors produced (yellow and amber) are just a byproduct of just turning both colors on at the same time :p

Ah... Isaac.. Please tell me the site for motorola and the codes still needed to be released so I can bug them. I wish to make things easier for the both of you. Thanks in advance.

by using this code : BRB25. you can get Motorola triumph for 225$. if you been wanting to get one could probably get it now since black Friday deals might not get this good. :):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Bugging them is not going to get the source code released. there is not one android manufacturer that is going to release their source code if they don't have to. we should consider ourselves lucky that they stayed true to their word and did not lock the phone down. They also released the kernal source in a very timely manner. If you want to bug them then bug them about fixes for the hardware that needs it now like gps and such.

you could also bug the new owners of motorola (google) and encourage them to release the source to all their phones or at least all future phones

i still like the "bugging the hell out of moto" better. if your gonna release the source, release the whole thing!

think of this, would you like to have a car that was missing bolts? and even a steering wheel?

The analogy IMHO would be more like everything is there but the bolts are loose and I hear a funny noise when I turn right.
