Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

wsimon- that may possibly be what it is. i did not know for sure i just kinda figured it may give a little insight on the camera issue.

Could it be a built in app that the MT has to utilize to make the ffc usable?

Ticker, it could be as wsimon says i wasn't to sure about what it was. in any case hope it helps.

At times i feel to new to this that i feel vulnerable. lol

The underlying truth is that Froyo did not support more than one camera. This is a major "gotcha" trying to use the Froyo libs with CM7, although thus far I cannot get them to come up at all - they're sending something into the kernel that it does not like AT ALL and blows up there, returning an error.

Without source to libcamera figuring out exactly what it's sending in and from where so as to be able to stop it is going to be rather difficult. This is (probably) a case of not properly checking boundaries on parameters in libcamera and insuring sanity in what you pass onward, which is an evil act but very common among developers.

This doesn't mean I can't get it working, but it makes things much, much harder. And a "application-level-only" interface on one side with an opaque "black box" in the middle that has to be talked to by the glue in the middle makes for a lot of fun of the hair-pulling type.

Oh, one other thing.

I'm aware of people pulling my diffs and then refusing to share their work while cribbing off mine and Isaac's efforts.

I'm going to make this crystal clear: While there's nothing that I can do to you for that act in the world of "open source" development, at some point you're probably going to sit across a desk from someone just like me - and perhaps literally me, looking for a job in this field.

You ought to consider that one of the characteristics - and perhaps the most-important characteristic - that development managers and executives (yes, I've done that, up to and including being the CEO of an internet company) look at is whether you're a fundamentally honest person.

If you're cribbing from others and then holding your own work back intentionally, refusing to answer questions or worse, not giving fair credit to where you got your "fixes" from, the answer to that question is "NO."

And yes, folks, my professional network among people in this field at both the "coder" and management level is deep and wide. 30 years in the industry has a way of generating a lot of contacts.

Do as you wish but don't expect to be shielded from the reasonable conclusions others may draw of your integrity by the fact that it's "on the Internet and nobody knows you're a dog."

I think that is just the API for using the ffc in an application. So if I was building an app that needed to use the ffc, that shows how I would set it up and use it. Note: its not for 2.3, its for 2.2 and it is needed because 2.2 doesn't have the standard ffc APIs built into the OS.

@i2c Make sure you go outside when you test the GPS. You can't get a GPS lock inside like you can get cell service inside- it is much more sensitive- it is, afterall, connecting to satellites rotating around the earth. Its not like you ever need to use the GPS inside anyway.

I was able to get 9 or 10 little satellites on GPSFix while outside, but it never locked me to anywhere and I gave up. I was at it for like 15 minutes or so.

When the little satellites stop flashing that means they are locked. From what I've seen on my phone it usually only adds another satellite icon once it locks to the first one. Did you actually try to use an app that uses gps after running GPSfix?

I'm assuming it didn't because when I pull up Google Maps now it doesn't show my last position as being anywhere near where I was. Also when I pull up GPSFix, it says no lock, usually it'll give me a location and when I last locked onto it. So that leads me to believe that myCM7 has never locked onto GPS.

Try the Navigation instead of Google Maps. I've had instances where Navigation and GPS Status shows me as locked and I can even navigate with directions but Google Maps can't seem to show my location.

Is anyone else having problems with apps not starting up on boot? I have tried Juice Defender, Connection Checker, and a few others and they simply won't start on boot. I even tried Android Assistant and another startup manager to make sure the programs are selected to start, but they don't until I manually start them. Not too big of a deal just wondering if anyone has come across this.

Hey guys, finally exchanged my phone and got one without a washout screen, only took 6 exchanges >.> but anyway, i had asked before about backing up my stuff yada yada but one thing i didnt think to ask that im not sure works is, since i backed up my CWM backups and all, once i have CWM on phone again and rooted and all that good stuff, could i just simply copy the backups from previous phone into folder and restore or would that not work? I dont wanna try and brick phone possibly and i never seen someone talk about doing that and i kinda dont think it would work so figure i ask to make sure, thanks :)

hey i just installed the newest build for the first time and it looks great! ive only had it for like 3 hours of which i didnt have much time to play around with it. i did notice, however, that some apps seem to be force closing on me. for instance, gmail has yet to respond once. any ideas on what could be the problem? im hoping its something at my lvl that i can fix so that i dont have to bother tg or isaac about it ><

Did you format /system and clear the cache partition before installing the rom? That seems to be a common cause of problems like yours.

I don't recall seeing anything about this after reading through the whole thread, but are any of you still getting that headphone glitch, where it seemingly randomly decreases the volume? I use an FM transmitter with mine in the car and I still seem to be having headphone volume issues, though it may just be my transmitter.

Am I the only one that noticed that tickerguy sneaked in a new build about 45 minutes ago?

Partially working FFC camera and smartassv2 governor :)

For me, everything is working as noted it should in the first posts of the thread.
Thanks TickerGuy and keep up the awesome work!

Hey guys,
I took the plunge and installed CM7. It's awesome, and thanks a million to everyone who's worked on it. A couple questions.

1. I didn't factory reset or clear cache before flashing and it works fine. Will re-flashing but factory resetting first make me lose all my apps and data?

2. I noticed USB tethering is available in settings, but whenever I plug my phone into my computer and turn tethering on, tethering stays on for all of about 5 seconds and then turns off. Is this a known issue?

3. How do I get the default calendar app?

Sorry for the noobish questions. I've been following this thread for a while and I'm pretty sure I'm not re-asking anything. Thanks again.

1. That's what a factory reset is, it erases all apps and user settings.
2. Known
3. It should be in there, it's on mine

Now we're talkin'!

I could care less about the FFC, but full back camera support rocks! (I say I could care less about the FFC, but it is nice to know that it will at least work in apps, which is really all that matters.)

Now if only you could just squash that pesky 3G bug... (I'm not complaining at all.) Speaking of "bugs" what is the status on HDMI support? I know currently that it is borked... just curious to see if you have tried anything recently.

Thank you Tickerguy! Can't see what else you have up your sleeve!

Edit: Screenshots are still borked. Seems like one of the CM7 updates (from the sorce) changed something. Hmm...

Thanks for the quick response. So I really shouldn't wipe data then if I don't want to lose everything? Or could I wipe and then copy it back? Would that be advisable? And I found the calendar app...it's just not syncing with my GCalendar, it doesn't look like.

Also, the volume bug is gone for me, it looks like. Thankfully, it now uses the lower (usable) volume 100% of the time.
