Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

ipaint666 I downloaded it with my computer and moved it to my phone via the USB cable and I followed the video exactly step by step and still no luck.

You even went back to stock and tried clearing the cache that way?

Yes I did. I can apply other updates but no version of Tickerguy's cyanogenmod seems to work. Every version says the same thing:

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update-cm-7.1.0-TG-0.3-Beta-Triumph-signed.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

September, yes. It just won't link to you. But if you save the confirm email and register an account later, you can link it at a later date.

The problem was, as I expected, in the kernel. I do not understand why it worked under Froyo - it should not have. I am EXTREMELY suspicious in regards to whether we actually were given what Moto shipped - this should have been locking up in their build as well and it obviously isn't.

I'm going to pay close attention to the power curve for the next few days and see if I'm right on the consumption leaving Wifi enabled. I may be and may not be, but I have suspicions that some assumptions Moto made on this device are wrong. If I'm correct about that I may be able to materially reduce power drain when off Wifi too.

tickerguy. Thanks man, i have been following your work on this for the last month. And i am not one of those forum posters, just because half the time it is just complaining but i must say thanks. I went from a EVO slave to sprint to the Moto Triumph free of contracts and NOW i love my new phone. Thanks and keep up the GREAT WORK.

Any idea why my phone would (soft) reboot when I try to connect to USB (Computer)

I have had phone reboots many times while it was connected to computer and say I pasted a file into the phone. Sometimes as soon as file copy starts it reboots. Sometimes in the middle of file copy it reboots. Sometimes it doesnt and file actually gets copied.

Mine is doing it EVERYTIME I connect, and then select USB, then mount (or whatever it is) while it is connecting, it will reboot

Oh, and with the B3 version, I am not able to send MMS, I was with B1

Omg way to be overdramatic! The drain on the battery is miniscule at worst... and definitely not 'huge' as you claim. An ideal solution? No... but its still a lot better than what we were dealing with. This will do nicely for many of us until Tickerguy or someone else can figure a solution to a very annoying problem.

My thanks again to whoever discovered this workaround...

The wifi was a big deal for me, so glad it's in the past!

I seem to be having issues with the apps continuing to run after I close out of them and kill them in task killer on my phone. Even if I make one call the dialer app continues to run. I have had the phone unplugged for 3 and a half hours and it is down to 55%, 23% of the use came from the dialer. So out of the 45% that has been used the dialer used over 10%? I made a 2 minute call!! The camera and gallery app have done the same thing.

IM HAVING THIS PROBLEM TOO! I thought maybe I had a bad install so we'll see if it happens with this new build. I almost always have Cell Standby and Phone Idle as the top 2 battery users, but lately Android System has been sucking it down. Dialer and Gallery are close behind at #2 and #3.

Today I lost half my battery in about 6 hours, and it was basically in my pocket and on my desk not doing anything (no wifi, GPS, bluetooth, etc)

Do you have a larger SD card installed (not the one that came w/ the phone)? This was the behavior I hit with my 'bad' 32GB PNY card. Once the card was about half full, any attempt to write a file to it cause the phone to reboot.

Went back to the 2GB card that came w/ the phone, no problems since!

Present ;-)

TickerGuy, I am amazed by this build! I thought it would be months before a usable CM7 for the triumph would be developed, but this one is awesome already and only getting better.

2 questions:
1. Is there a way to build a PRL update into this? I've heard it can help reception, but I've looked at the steps and they seem a little to technical for me.

2. Can we please have the option to overclock built in? I think everyone with this ROM has already accepted the risk that their phone could blow up when they rooted and ROMed. I'd be nice to be able to dial it up just a little without having to worry about another Kernal screwing with yours.

How do I make it so that when my phone is sleep that doesn't turn on when I touch the softkeys. I don't want to use mY lockscreen pattern anymore.

*Edit* nevermind I got it working had to disable and enable a few things sorry.

It really is not that technical. Just remember to make a back up of your rom before you go into stock. The biggest problem people have is getting the SPC code and getting the phone into Diag mode. For the SPC code once in stock download alogcat and set filter to "spc_code" press home and click on dialer. Dial "##33284#" this is the debug menu. It will ask for the code. Just type "000000" and press ok. It will say incorrect. Now hold the home button and open up alogcat the 6 digit code will be displayed... write it down and save it. To solve the DIAG mode problem get a program called AnyCut from the market.
Once AnyCut is downloaded open it and create a new shortcut for an activity and scroll to "Select Com Port Mode". Once that is on the home screen open it and click the DIAG option on. Plug phone into computer and start the process that all the other threads mention to flash a prl. QPST should pick up the port and the rest is cake! After you are done flash back to CM7 and check out the settings to see the updated PRL.

1. No. The PRL is in a different partition that is not written to when installing a rom. That is why you can change PRLs on stock and change to CM7 and still have the PRL update.

2. No, TickerGuy has said that he will not include this- read the beginning posts. The risk of rooting and installing a rom is completely different than the risk of overclocking. Ultimately, if you know what you are doing and are careful, there is no risk in rooting or installing a ROM on this phone. However, over time overclocking will reduce the life of the processor- its anyone's best guess as to if or when it'll ruin your phone. There's a reason the manufacturer set the clock speed to what it is on the processor and it wasn't because they didn't know how to make it go faster.

Hmm I do have a 8 GB card installed with about a gig free. If this is the cause, then it is really annoying.

Anyways, now that the wifi sleep bug has been fixed I can use a program like OnAir to transfer files via wifi.
