Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

Small bug. When the screen off animation is on (yes, the off animation), when you wake from lock, it displays the lockscreen right away as intended. But with the off animation turned off, when you hit the power button to unlock it shows the screen you were previously on for a moment, THEN brings up the lock screen

I can't wait to flash this, wifi not locking up is really important because I like to use voip applicatations and the Virgin network isn't always equiped to handle i

After flashing this all I can say wow this rom is almost perfect imo. Not only does the wifi stay on but it also fixed another issue I had with using wifi hotspot. If I were using the wifi tether app to lets say call my girlfriennd on facetime with my ipod touch, the screen had to stay on or else I would loose it's connection. I had a feeling it was the wifi issue, but anyways thanks a million, I seriously wish you had a helping had in developing this phone from the begining

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what does it mean that the PRL is now pulled directly from the radio?
It means that whatever PRL you have loaded will show on the status screen. The "faked" one in build.prop is still there, but it shows up in status now only until the radio code inits and returns the PRL back to the system.

I'm not entirely happy with that codepath and will probably work on it some more, but at least now it shows you what's actually in the radio.

TickerGuy, I am amazed by this build! I thought it would be months before a usable CM7 for the triumph would be developed, but this one is awesome already and only getting better.

2 questions:
1. Is there a way to build a PRL update into this? I've heard it can help reception, but I've looked at the steps and they seem a little to technical for me.
No. The PRL is not loaded by the same process as the firmware. Flash back to stock to update the PRL. At some point I may be able to fix this (if so it likely comes as a side effect of fixing the "activation" app) but I would not hold my breath.
2. Can we please have the option to overclock built in? I think everyone with this ROM has already accepted the risk that their phone could blow up when they rooted and ROMed. I'd be nice to be able to dial it up just a little without having to worry about another Kernal screwing with yours.
No. I understand why some people want it but I'm not going to include it in the ROM. If you want and are competent to do so you can pull my kernel GIT, add whatever you want to it, and recompile it then make an updater to do whatever you'd like.

If you choose to run one you're taking a material amount of risk and any sort of bugs you run into doing it are something I simply will not chase. Far too often problems people have when they do this are caused by the overclocking and I refuse to spend time on what may be a wild goose chase.

Tickerguy,

Thank you for fixing this... at my office I have very bad signal but always access to Corporate Wifi and having to shutoff Wifi every time was a pain.. you are the man!

I'd think you could probably put this on your resume too, even though I'm sure you quite accomplished as it is to begin with! :D

When I updated from beta 2 to beta 3 I didn't format the /system, but this time I did and it gave me all sorts of problems. All my accounts were gone as well as a number of my apps. Also, 3G didn't seem to want to turn on. I ended uprecovering in cwm and then updating to beta 4 without any formatting and now everything seems fine.

Why did this happen? Thanks

Read here. It will explain it for you.

Did you flash gapps again after formatting /system? That's the only thing I can think of that would cause that. I have been doing that pretty consistently with no errors: format system, flash rom, flash gapps, reboot, golden.

If you format /system and do NOT flash GAPPS then you have no Gapps and thus anything that requires it (e.g. anything that has to log into Google!) won't work. This will break all sorts of fun things if you leave your applications loaded while doing that.

I almost always have Cell Standby and Phone Idle as the top 2 battery users, but lately Android System has been sucking it down. Dialer and Gallery are close behind at #2 and #3.

Today I lost half my battery in about 6 hours, and it was basically in my pocket and on my desk not doing anything (no wifi, GPS, bluetooth, etc)

Cell Standby, Phone Idle, and Android System will always be running, at least they should be. If cell standby is using that much battery, click on it when you check and see what your time without a signal is. If that is high the problem of running your battery out is because your phone is always searching for a signal and using the battery.

Using a task killer to stop apps is not needed, and can actually make your phone run worse. Here is a post with more details and links if you care to read up on it.

On another note the stock gallery is a resource hog check out Quick Pic as an alternative.

You know I always do the ROM first, Then I set up my WiFi. Then I go back in and flash Gapps. So when I download all the Gapps I choose, It will download them quicker. I've never had any trouble with this. I've done it this way since I first started flashing roms back on my Ascend.

Sykojon: Mine says the 4, Did you do a Factory restore/Cache wipe? I know some people don't but I always do it. It's a little more work but I honestly think the extra time is worth it when faced with having potential problems otherwise.

On Beta 4 with my wifi TX power also capped at 10mW (it`s 30mW stock I figured I`m in close and don`t need the extra power when on wifi) and cpu settings of 368min 1024 max on smartassv2 governor my power consumption has slowed tremendously and the responsiveness is spot on. Awesome work as always Ticker!!!

Ok I reinstalled the update without wiping and now it says beta 4

Do you have a larger SD card installed (not the one that came w/ the phone)? This was the behavior I hit with my 'bad' 32GB PNY card. Once the card was about half full, any attempt to write a file to it cause the phone to reboot.

Went back to the 2GB card that came w/ the phone, no problems since!

Just a note on SD cards, there a lot of spoofed (I guess you would call it) cards out there that less reputable sellers (read eBay!) hack to fool your computer/phone into thinking they are whatever size - 32GB like yours was - and are actually a lot smaller. I got burned once - a "16 GB" card would only hold 1GB!

TG Thanks, the work your doing is amazing,

1 question though,

sorry if i missed it in another post, after the 10/26 update, my phone will not connect to any mobile data, idk if its my screw up. under mobile settings the data enabled box keeps getting unchecked over and over,

thanks and again sorry if something similar was already asked

Have you tried doing a full /data /cache /dalvik wipe?
