Root [ROM]Black Plague w/ Plague kernel

Hey guys. The reason I think these governors like SmartAssV2 and Interactive aren't exactly working as we would think is the fact that:

a) They don't enable/disable the second cpu core on demand. In fact no governor that I can think of except hotplug does this at all if I remember right (let me know if you find otherwise). This is the job of the mpdecision service, my optimizer app disables this when set to manual 1 Core or 2 Cores. Auto enables it again. This is why the cpu speeds stick with my app without modifying lg scripts. The thermald daemon also has some control and will try to slow down an overheating cpu and shut down the phone. (By the way, my pc crashed. Drive corrupted. That's why I haven't been able to update. My key that i use to sign the app is mangled and i haven't found another copy. Luckily the source was ok though. Without the key I can't update my app on the market)

Also for P.G: I've narrowed down my reboots to mostly be during 2 specific events. When I unlock the phone (and the cpu probably ramps up quickly). Or when I've got about 30% or less battery and I take a picture using the LED Flash. This leads me to believe that the processor might be slightly under-volted, maybe even out of the factory. I have a strange feeling that the voltage regulator might not be able to keep up 100% of the time with the speed goes from 0% -> 100% cpu @ high clocks. Starving the cpu of current until it shuts off, then starts up again. The only way I would think that this could be fixed is to make the difference in voltage less volts between the lowest and highest values so it swings up and down smaller amounts.

Can you tell me what values your kernel is using for it's various cpu speeds? I haven't quite figured out how to interpret in the cpu source file yet.

1 Bug left:
-Bluetooth pairing is busted. Same like we ran into with the LG Esteem before. Last time it was someone theming the settings.apk or something. Anyone got a settings.apk they can post that isn't crashing when pairing?

The blue tooth issues i have fixed n were mainly caused by the themed settings.apk. i pushed the untouched settings.apk back n bluetooth pairs just fine.

The other stuff i will have to look into myself too.

Installed rom after wiping all data with no problems but every time I attempt to install an application the phone restarts? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Playful, I just want to add to the gentleman that pointed out when his phone restarts. Ill add that my phone does the same thing, even if I only flash your kernel and not the whole ROM, and just like the other guy, when I have either your ROM or kernel flashed, whenever there is a large spike of CPU activity after a period of disuse, now whether this is because the ramp speeds of the governors (I use Smartassv2 and Im not sure if any other CPU governors do this) are too quick (I know that a CPU going from 0-100% almost instantaneously is not exactly easy on a CPU) or if this is because the kernel is undervolted I do not know. If you would like to send me a modified kernel that has a less drastic undervolt I would happily test it for you, as I LOVE your ROM and I would REALLY like to use it, but I can not deal with all the reboots I get from using it.

Thank you Pg got apps loading but here is another quirk every time i plug the phone in to charge it. The phone shuts off and i have to pull battery to restart.

Hi, so I installed black plague v1.2 today and everything seemed to work out, but after 15 minutes it kept rebooting and now I can't use the phone. I try turning off the phone and turning it back on, but it only shows the number animation looping without an end. Is there a way I can fix this? Thanks:)

use easy-wipe and try again? :p

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find anything on it with search. I installed the ROM and I like it, but have one thing I would like to change. The system font is dark gray on a black background and I can hardly see it. How do I change the color? All the apps I found will change the font, but not the color. Thanks in advance.

is it just the secondary font? like the smaller text on the bottom? if so than do this,

-pull framework-res.apk from BP rom
-download a program called 7zip (google it lol)
-now grab the framework from #2 rom & open it with 7zip (right-click for open archive option)
-now search the apk in this directory "res/color"
-your looking for an .xml file named "**_secondary_LGE_dark.xml (something like that...)
-pull it out of #2 framework
-now open BP framework with 7zip, go to same directory and DELETE that same file
-now push in the new file you got from #2
-now you can push the framework-res.apk into your device using adb push (but you will need to re-sign into google etc..)

hope this helps you :D

if you cant do all that ill make a flashable-zip for ya ;)

I love this rom but ever since I installed it my battery dies twice as fast. in 2-3 hours its down to about 60% being on standby alone. Tried to get juicedefender but no help. Any ideas? Thanks

Yeah the battery life is probably the only downside of this rom. As you mentioned it kills battery even on standby (for me even on airplane mode) so there's really not much you can do. I would suggest installing one of the other roms. Broken out has better battery life but bluetooth pairing problems. Rom number two (that's the actual name of the rom) is in beta stage but there is absolutely no problems with it right now. It's battery life is even better than stock rom i highly recommend it.

Going to try it out right now. If everything works well all thanks to ya! :)

Yeah, that is probably above my head. You don't need to go out of your way for me. I don't go into system very often anyway.

I think that BT is the only thing that remais unfixed. But if pg could send you his source to compile it with your rom it would be great.

Ok so i have rom manager i downloaded black plague then i saw a screen said backup existing rom wipe data and cache and wipe dalvik cache i checked all of them then it says reboot and install press ok to reboot into cloworkmod recovery and continue the installation i click ok then the phone reboots but thats all it does is do a phone reboot then i go back to my home page its like nothing happened does anyone know why its not going into clockworkmod recovery and i tried to backup my existing rom and all it does is turn my phone off need serious help please i really want a rom on my phone and i am new to all of this and have read alot of the rooting section of the forum thanks

sorry dont know what you mean i downloaded rom manager and did a flash clockworkmod recovery 5.8.3.1 it says also says clockworkmodtouch is available ?

so you can use most features from rom manager? that means you should have recovery... go to play store and download app called 'quick boot' then try and boot to recovery that way, when and if you make it to recovery mode, do a backup in there, you'll see the option under backup/restore sub-menu

at this point you are free to download & flash/install any ms840 rom you like ;)
