Root [ROM][BOOST/SPRINT][ZVC]Marky Beats v2 beta[updated 7/30]

Yes I know, and I appreciate your help, but that really wasn't what I was looking for. I can't install boost zone from the market, unless I am missing something. I thought, and maybe I am quite wrong, that is where you would have to start before you removed and added things.
I can give you boost zone, if you need it. I made sure that as soon as I rooted I manually backed up all my system apps in case I needed to send my phone back.. Just let me know I'll upload to DropBox =)

Yes, I did that as well. But it still is not really what I am looking for. Plain stock, rooted, cwm, no themes, nothing removed, nothing added. Just deodexed, and zip aligned. When I have more time, I will try follow the guides and try to deodex the stock rom. Wish me luck!

In case you are wondering why, I may try to do some theming, but I want to start from the ground up, so to speak.

Sorry for hijacking this thread...

Ok, flipping through this thread, finding it a bit confusing to follow between the Sprint and Boost versions.

I'm a Sprint user, and I use BT audio in my car heavily for my daily commute. I saw that BT audio was having trouble a while back, but then some patch seemed to fix it, but now I'm seeing posts saying its a problem again. I assume problems like that exist on both versions (boost and Sprint)?

Is this because of the beats audio drivers, or perhaps just the application? Personally, I like using Winamp for my audio and Mort AudioBook for lectures and non-music related audio. If I'm not interested in the Beats Audio application, will the drivers still cause a BT issue for me?

Also, is the Sprint version based off of the Sprint ZVC update? Will it have the speed enhancements, fix for freeze-during-calls, etc, that ZVC brought?

Third question, why the complicated installation procedure? Is this not a complete ROM, but rather only parts of it? It looks like we are being asked to already have a ZVC rom installed before installing this ROM- is that right?
But we would have to do it from within CWM so that we don't lose cwm/root and stuff, right?

Well here it is, Boost Mobile LG855ZVC!!

I do notice the baseband is sprint, but so far I guess it isn't an issue. Couple things I'd like to mention:
1)Bluetooth is not working again. (I can pair with my PC to use my PC speakers as speakerphone/music player, just not FTP again.) Well I had read by 'MrMondayNight' his BT issue was caused by Music.apk. I also noticed I didn't have it installed. Not sure wat fixed my BT FTP, but I installed PlayerPro and Installed Music.apk and all of a sudden BT FTP is working again. I did uninstall Music.apk and BT still working fine. So I am a little confused on what fixed this, but I can say it is worth a shot if you are experiencing an issue w/ BT.
2)For some odd reason now I cannot send E-Mails or E-Mail attachments via GMail.apk. However I can receive e-mails and attachments. [Only reason i mention this is because this is how I would transfer files from my phone to my PC w/o using BT.] After I went back into CWM and wiped cache and went into advanced options and fixed permissions, as others have posted on playful's undeniable ROM thread, I was able to get Gmail to work again!
3)I noticed that Carrier IQ Detector still says that Carrier IQ is installed and active.
4)I also cannot use Font Installer app to change my fonts. After I upgraded to SuperUser Elite and installed SuperUser 3.0 Beta, I then tried using Font Installer.apk again, and worked fine.
5)-Which really is a personal preference- Boot.ani has reverted to Blue Beats, instead of Flashing Blue Android.. Had a better Look I feel. After extracting the bootanimatiion.zip from /system/media from MBv1.2BST.zip (before MB v1.2zvc), I used Root Explorer to paste it to my phones /system/media folder and overwrote the existing one. Then changed permissions to rw--r--r, and worked great! Thanks for the help on this one |MONSTER|!!
And a quck question, are we able to use CRT with this or will that still revert the Battery Status Icon?

And have to say I am loving the Swype Theme!!!!!!!! Amazing!(Not sure if this has been implemented earlier or not because I always restore with TiBU, but I am digging it way better!)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also wanted to mention I received these errors at the end of the boostupdate.zip install:

E: can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: can't mount /cache/recovery//log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that is all for now.. Thanks Again ALOT! goes to |Monster|!!!

(I know this may not matter with the update from |Monster| comeing soon, just wanted to put this in the right thread.)

Bionic, do you have a link to the Music.apk download?

Tx, G8r

I have it uploaded to my DropBox.. Here is the download link:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70114959/Music_2.3.4.apk

Though I think I found out last night, after my BT stopped working again, that the Music app is not affecting BT.. I know I unpaired my device with my phone so the wouldn't 'recognize' each other then paired them again my pc tried to install BT Peripheral drivers (which all failed), but they both asked to confirm connection and then it worked again... Just thought I'd share my findings..

Ok, Tx

I cant even get that Music apk to install.

I installed pro player.. the bluetooth connects.. I can listen to music on it.. but when I try to use it on the phone the dialer goes away and puts me on the home screen and the phone locks up. When someone calls when its on, it turns the bluetooth off and I can use the phone normally.. wierd.. lol

I am assuming this is an issue regarding MB ROM's, so probably would say for both Sprint and Boost.

I am not sure at this time what is causing BT issues, I do not think it is Beats Driver's because I was able to get BT working fine for me. (Check out my reply to iNsTaGaToR above.)

Also, is the Sprint version based off of the Sprint ZVC update? Will it have the speed enhancements, fix for freeze-during-calls, etc, that ZVC brought?
This something a Sprint User would have to comment on.. Maybe ask in Undeniable Marquee thread by PlayfulGod? Sorry I am just not sure and don't want to give out misinformation.

Steps to Update: (Based off Boost ZVC Update)
BOOST UPDATE:
1) Make a backup of all apps + system data via TiTanium BackUp.
2) Go into CWM.
3) Navigate to Backup and Restore.
4) Navigate to Restore.
5) Restore your stock backup. (You can get a stock backup.zip from the forums if you don't have one.)*Must be running Stock Odex to install update*
6) Now go to Flash .zip from SD in CWM and Flash boostupdate.zip.
7) Navigate to Wipe Data / Factory Reset in CWM and do a factory reset.
8) Then install MB v1.2ZVC.
9) Do step #7 again.
10) Reboot!
11) Restore with TiBU.
-I think, and could be wrong, that |Monster|'s updates for both Sprint and Boost have CWM and Root intact.
Hope this helps some...

Yea I did install the old Google Music app and it removed my Beats Audio. I also notice that now I can only use BT as FTP.(File Transfer Protocol). Will mess around with it and see if I find a fix. We may just have to sit tight for |Monster| to come back. I may try to flash back to MBv1.2 w/o ZVC, since I had BT working on all angles (FTP, BT Headset, and BT Music Headphones), but I am not sure...

@dishe if you want to just keep the rom as close to stock as possible use the update zip in this thread:
http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=4182365

1. Have your zv9 sprint rom rooted
2. Install cwm on it
3. Boot to cwm do a data wipe
4. Install the zip update from the post

You may already have 1 and 2 done. Do your normal backup using titanium before step 3. I have this on mine and it works great; I manually removed some of the sprint bloatware using titanium pro or using root explorer and removing those apks and apps in /system/app I don't need

The sprintupdate.zip provided is useless on my end. I don't think it was properly setup. I get the insufficient memory error in market and my cwm has the 4 mounting errors that everyone was reporting, even after fixing permissions and cleaning cache. I never seen a ROM update that had image pop up instead of the command line install. Will wait till more experienced developers get on board.

Given my own experience, I suspect that your problem is not because of inexperienced developers ;)

WOW, that's pretty harsh words! Especially coming from someone I don't think I have ever seen post here before, or help anyone. These Dev's work hard, and some of us are very appreciative of there work.

What part of "Beta" don't you understand??

FYI, I'm not a developer nor a person with in-depth Android knowledge but I do know some stuff based on experience and getting my hands dirty. If you don't care about rooting or CWM, just flash back to the Sprint stock version (I believe there's a thread floating around that has flashing instructions via your PC). Once you have the original ZV9 Sprint stock version, just do OTA update to ZVC. But you won't have root (there's no method to root a ZVC baseline) and hence you can't install CWM.

FYI, I don't think those "mounting errors" that everyone is seeing are that "critical"; by this I mean I don't think something is broken or badly damaged; if anything, I think it's attempting to mount to store some logs, which may be used by the updating process to see if it's been updated to ZVC, I'm not sure. Monster and Playfulgod can comment on this as they are the experts. And as far as everyone is concerned, they are the only "developers" here so be nice to them.

used to have my lg marquee rooted but after a boost or android update, it is not getting any superuser permission. I am not a computer geek so I need detailed instructions. If you give me an email I can send you the root basic pro results. will donate if helped. thanks.

It was faulty on my end, I was able to get everything working once I went back to stock. My apologies.

Gonna try the ZVC Update again can someone give me a rundown on the benefits of the ZVC update?

The main fix is for the phone freezing during a call, rendering phone useless for quite a few minutes. It will then reboot itself and attempt to come up again. The are other enhancements but I don't really notice anything.

I as well am having the same troubles. I followed the instructions down to a T. But I love the work you guys are doing with this phone! I'm new to pre-paid Android's. I switched from a Sprint Contract lol, didn't do much switching.

Thanks for all your hard work guys! You make my phone incredible and fun to use!

hahahaha, that's great. I call my sister-in-law a sheep because she loves apple products so much. The Marquee is my 4th Android phone and I also Own 2 Android tablets, which run way better than any ipad. I do however with they had the ipad 3's screen res lol
