Root [ROM] CM7 Nightlies EVO Community

Running Nightly #11 and running ADW ex instead of the stock CM launcher, an it's running great except everytime I reboot the phone, my widgets wont load, so I have to delete them from the home screen and re-do them..... any ideas? It also gives me a FC on ADW ex when it reboots

n/m fixed permissions and all is good now :)

General practice for me is to upgrade ROM after a nandroid (just in case, I hate having to reset all my settings) then once back to the desktop do a quick check to make sure everything is how I want it then run fix perms, another reboot, and g2g...

BTW the power bar is looking pretty sweet on 13 (lucky #13 lol)

Also Is anyone else having issues with bluetooth file transfers?

i'm going to switch over from Fresh to CM7 but i have some questiosn:

1. do i install RC1 first then the Nightlies? Or can I go straight to the nightlies?

2. Once i'm all setup with CM7, do i just keep flashing the new nightlies as they're released like how you would when updating software?

3. Can I use LauncherPro Plus with CM7 or am I stuck with ADW? I've never tried ADW before so i'll give it a shot.

4.

You can install any of them as if they were separate ROMs. You don't have to install one before installing another.

Yes. It's a good idea to make a backup before flashing, but you don't have to wipe if you're going from RC2 to whatever nightlies come out.

You can install Launcher Pro as normal, there's no problem. If you've never tried ADW EX, though... you should. Unless you like LP+ widgets.

?

thanks for the reply. turns out RC2 is out so i just gave that a go. GPS is really weak however. Maps won't get a good reading, but when I hit up Navigation it'll get me an accurate signal.

Im new to CM but dont they start numbering again after an RC? RC2 dropped but nightly 14 came after it. So which is newer? Technically #14 but it just may have gotten loaded later...? or is #14 the first nightly off of RC2?

So 14 is RC2 #1 basically? so 5 hours later they dropped a nightly for an RC they just dropped? OK i'll take your word for it, flashing to #14.

RC is a release candidate and it's just that! The RC is for people who want a near stable rom without having to flash nightlies.

But in my experience with CM, I always felt the RC's and Stable builds sucked:) but that's just my opinion;) The nightlies may have bugs though

yeah I get that. Im saying there is an order to it. The count starts over somewhere, if not after rcs then when? We got up to like 30 before and then RC1 dropped and it seemed we started at one again...? No?

Yeah saw that last night. I've been running it since the only issue I seem to have with CM7 overall is data seems slower than other roms, that includes 4g. I find that I have to reboot my EVO every once in a while just to get data working properly again.

All aspects of CM7 seem to be working, I don't feel I flashed the Rom wrong. Oh and .... my email (gmail / aol) doesn't seem to sync properly. Has anyone else experianced anything like this?

#13 and #14 are both 83.3mb

the RC2 is 83.29mb

What could have happen is that rc2 was missing something in the build that was from #13 nightly. So to correct what they missed they put #14 nightly out. No way of really knowing.

To me, since I had problems with a Damaged sd card bug, GPS problems, very very slow transfer speeds for the sd card, the last 3 releases are full of bugs

yeah I had a LOT of issues with the last 3, being 13, RC2, and 14. Im back to 12. 12 runs like a dream. I had a bunch of fcs and launcher crashing, gps wouldnt lock at all, the thing that bothered me the most was my widgets needed reloaded everytime i rebooted the phone. No amount of wiping, formatting, or flashing fixed the situation. Use the same setup on 12 and its fine.

Actually im checking out Vaelpak 3.2 atm but 12 is my cm7 daily when i go back to AOSP.

I flashed RC2 yesterday and have downloaded nightly 14 to flash over it. Not liking the battery life so far but I haven't flashed a different kernel yet. GPS locks and follows on the road but seems to cut in and out frequently(not a smooth transition while following). Nice to not have the voicemail notification in the status bar though like I did on Evervolv :)

I will give it another charge cycle and if the battery still seems lacking, I will try and flash the kernel I was using on Evervolv(Savage 1.6) and see how it is them. Liking the rom other than that right now though.

I Too have noticed the battery draw. I use my EVO at work, to bypass the companies internet and i have never drained the battery until last night.

Hey guys I found this in the Droid forum while trying to figure out how to correctly setup my Yahoo IMAP. It list pop3 settings as well along with Gmail and Hotmail settings. I've only used the Yahoo and it works. So post if you used another and if it works. I can delete the ones that don't.

What recovery are you using. I use RA 2.3 and on Nightly 14 on a fresh install (wipe userdata/factory reset, and dalvik) and re-installed all my app (100+) and I haven't seen any FC. GPS locked me in instantly and widgets stays no matter how many reboots I do (even doing battery pull). The only odd thing I've noticed is my 4g sometimes cuts in and out.

I'm using Clockwork 3.0.0.5, and running smooth on 14 as well. I only wiped cache part, and dalvik, and flashed ontop of rc2 (also reflashed gapps as a general practice). Then after reboot and a quick lookover to see everything is g2g, run fix perms (this is my method for flashing everything i've flashed). So all is very solid, and it even seems that battery life has improved contrary to what others are saying... GPS hasn't been an issue since like nightly 20 before rc1 was even released (but i do still have GPS Status installed just in case).

My only issue is bluetooth file transfers, and it seems like i'm the only one with this issue, cuz i've mentioned it several times, but no one seems to respond to to... Well if anyone did have this issue, and was able to fix it, i'll be your best friend if you can share the fix...

The 4G inconsistency is what got me off CM7 (at least for this week). I don't think CM7 was the problem, but where I work, I get a weak 4G signal, but it's usually good enough for streaming music and what-not, but CM7 would lose signal from time to time and it was always unclear to me whether or not it would scan immediately after dropping signal.

The WiMax box would show as being checked, but there wouldn't be any kind of status displayed underneath. When I turn it on, it will say "turning on" or "scanning", but even after telling it to scan, it wouldn't actively indicate it was doing anything. Sense seems to do a better job of scanning, or at least telling me that it's scanning. If they can make the 4G connection info a little bit better, I'll go back to CM7.

So I was absolutely loving CM7, I was on nightly #11, I made 2 nandroid backups, and then restored a mikfroyo backup so I could play with the full hdmi program. Well when I went to restore my CM7 nandroid, I couldnt get either of them to boot up, I would do the restore and then get stuck on the bootscreen forever.....
Any suggestions?
I want to run CM7 as my daily and am looking for some advice on which is the most stable build? Ideally I would restore my nandroid and go from there, but unles someone has a magic trick to make that work it looks like I will starting from scratch. So if I'm starting from scratch I would like to start with a stable build, would that be nightly #12? RC2? RC1? thanks!!!
