Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

well i tried the web and used the sh#@ out of it and had no lag whatso ever. before i would, after about 20 mins of web surfin. i went into auto starts and turned off all apps and using advanced task killer and it made a big difference!!!:D

hey blood you might want to look into that, like you said earlier for trying to get a fix for that in 3.6. (just a thought to what problem might be for some of us), and we might be doing something wrong or messing things up. when i first started using it said i only had 43 ram free and settings said 100 or so, now it says 94 or so free and 135 free in settings. so if was 43 then surf web and things that would run out of memory quick and cause lag. so ctmod on some of us might not be killing apps . LIKE YOU SAID BEFORE MIGHT BE US INSTALLING APPS AND BRINGING IN TRASH FROM OTHER MODS OR VERSIONS. but is working great now for me anyhow.

i was typing why you all posted before me and agree on we mess stuff up!!!!!

then reinstall all my apps from the sdcard
I don't ever concern myself with losing any data, and most times, I don't change many settings, if any at all, so i usually don't bother trying to save any.
There's just too much risk involved in trying to carry over old crap. That's probably why I don't ever see 99% of the problems people are always complaining about..... just sayin

I only use it to delete apps I don't want or need.
The it goes back to being deleted.
Plus. Tit devs are a bit on the *****y side.
Told em they should fix the high corruption on their back up and they said that's not their fault.
I thought to myself.
Wtf! That's your software dude!
So that's how I left tit.
Now I install it from my SD card then delete it after I'm done.

I'm with you on that one Kouma. I quit using Titanium to restore apps with data too. It's a 50/50 toss up that it'll work correctly. I've actually had it screw the phone up on several occasions and ended up needing to do a complete wipe. I only use Titanium to do simple stuff now like freezing apps or a single backup every now and then or some other non-critical use. Restoring from the sd-ext is so much simpler.

C , Instead of using Auotstarts to disable apps, I use Titanium Pro to Freeze them. Amazon, Maps, ect. . Just another option I wanted to throw out there for ya. ;)

ROM toolbox is free. it got
-autostart manager (if you freeze you can't use till defrost.deny autostart permission and won't turn on till u open
-sysctl kernel tweaks on boot
-memory management on boot
-CPU control
-block ads
-scripter with helpful scripts included
-root browser
-build.prop editor
-saves all installed.apk files to sdcard automatically so titanium not needed
-sd read speed at boot
....etc check it. if you don't wanna use scripts for memory management this do that at boot and more

Yup, I've got Rom Toolbox(paid) along with System tools for root users(paid), basically the same apps. I just use Titanium to freeze them. They are the only 2 that continuously run in the background and drain the battery.
 
I'm cool with the 3.5 setup and how I have everything setup, the ssm/sdcard partitions of 2-2gb/1-12gb-fat, all is good, no complaints so far except I tried to install the RemovedApps.zip manually, using Root Explorer.

I have done this several times in the past with no problems (before 3.5), moved all the apk's in the zip to system/app and then rebooted.

The only thing I did not install was Keyboard.apk when it prompted me to overwrite the existing one upon moving them to system/app.

None of them are showing up in my app drawer, and they are still in the system/app folder.

It is the current/updated zip from the first post/first page, and I tried rebooting a few more times but still nothing.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do/change

did you actually try to move all the apps at once? that won't work, it only does one at a time.
 
I multiselected email and talk apps with root explorer and reboot both work.... just Change permissions. they were ---rwxrw- or something goofy when I put them in system/app

my root explorer is old so that's probably why moving multiple stuff doesn't work for me. I should update it one of these days.
 
Boat browser mini works great for me. Ctmod3.5 works perfect unless I run the stock browser. Then it lags and I have to hold down the power button to reboot.

Just a fyi to anyone who wants to try a different browser.
 
I got a very annoying problem maybe someone can help me out with.

I work in an office that has little signal. I get this weird annoying tone or noise every time it loses signal wich is every 5 min at least.

Is there a fix for this I have CtMod 3.5 and cant seem to find a way to shut off that annoying no signal tone.

put your phone on vibrate or silent, or you can just use airplane mode so your battery doesn't die from searching for signal constantly.

was just wondering? i have a lot of big mb apps, and 200 apps in total. using up only 46 mb of memory, on ssm. i went in and deleted about 10 apps totaling 53 mb and then cleared cache and did the ssm delvick wipe zip in cwm. and rebooted and still only have 46mb used and 114 free. why didn't i gain anymore mb by deleting these??? i should have gained like 4 or 5 mb?????:confused::confused::confused:

even if you have no apps installed its probably still going to read around 46mb being used bro, that 46 is from the OS. all your apps together are probably using 1 mb of the internal space.

CTMod doesn't have anything to do with signal strength and if your signal is bad thats probably why your battery is draining faster.

I'll see if i can get the lag some people are still having fixed and get 3.6 out sometime soon. I just released CTMod for the Marquee today so I'm kinda tired of dicking with android right now but maybe in a week or some shit.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what has been causing the signal issue because I haven't had it before, between going to 35 now on shrinkage and having upgraded to 3.5, it's been hard to isolate the issue at that moment, still haven't went back to stock to check it, maybe this weekend.

I agree with the whole titanium thing, the only thing I have backed up and restored was my game stuff, but I only do it for the data, I install the game fresh and restore data on it; other than that, I can't imagine what I might be doing "wrong" that could be causing this lag. I hope you can figure something out when 3.6 rolls along. I try to do everything fresh because this is my mentality with PCs in general. I only use the stock CTMod theme as well. If you need more info of my configuration to help figure this out, let me know.

still it is something some of us are doing!!!! i used auto starts and disabled every and anything that has to do with user stuff,NOT SYSTEM STUFF, and using advanced task killer pro and man my phone is so fast now with NO LAG AT ALL on anything exept when 3g is running(which is not the phone it is the connection, only goes so fast for everyone). no way you can make my phone faster without changing hardware!!!!!!

also when adding data from games and stuff might be contaminating the mod. like blood said he doesn't see half the stuff we do. he hasn't even updated things like root explorer in who knows how long.

I hear ya, I got only 5 things running in the background normally, settings (which is that moment of viewing right?), com.samsung.internal, DRM protected content, google services, and my favorite: swype. 74MB used, 162MB free. Today I had the lag just by trying to use youtube, became unresponsive, had to hard shut off to get out of there. The lag reminds me of CPU hang on a PC.
