Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

3.68
Battery Drains - nevermind the usual suspects but since changing to 4 partitions I noticed a huge difference in my battery life. Using SSM with the 4th partition option [fat | ext4 | ext4 | swap] ,
is it normal for the battery to drain faster?

Using sd-ext's will make the phone drain faster.

Version 3.75 Final release
New RemovedApps.zip uploaded for CT 3.75 only

So the RemovedApps.zip on the first post in it's usual spot is the updated one for 3.75 then right?

Yes

I have a quick question and I'm a newbie so please forgive my ignorance.
Previously I had followed the 3.68 prevail guide and set my phone in "data mode" with the "disable internal data" box checked.
After installing CTMod 3.75 I wanted to configure it in the same manner, but I no longer see the option for "disable internal data"
Has this option been removed or made automatic when data mode is chosen?
Thanks again!

You'd have to ask kouma but I'm going to guess it's automatic now.

Hi, I just wanted to chime in to say that while I am sure the 3.75 update is great in most ways, the 3G icon is now screwed up. With 3.75, my phone's icon always indicates 3G, even when the phone is in 1X. What's worse is the phone will not get a true 3G signal in my house (data speed is 97kbps avg). I went back to 3.68 and the problem immediately stopped. The 1X icon displays when the phone is getting a 1X signal, and 3G when the signal is true 3G. More importantly, the phone grabs a nice 3g signal at -100db. Data speed is 800kbps.

I am not sure what caused this, and I would love to have the 3.75 update, but until or unless the issues above are fixed, I will be sticking with 3.68. I do like some of the other changes in 3.75, but they are not worth the poor data speeds.

You can blame boost for that, its the way they made FF19.

Hey Blood, thanks for the final update really appreciate it! Everything seems fantastically great about this update so far. Although I think I found one little issue. The WiFi icon in the Quickpanel seems to be backwards. When I select it to turn it on the line underneath turns white while the actual WiFi icon turns grey. No big deal, just a heads up.

Thanks again! =)

I'll throw together a fix for the icon

Hi Bloodawn,

I do have also a little issue with the following icons : "WiFi, 3G/1g, Signal Strenght"....... Alllllll of them are there, but they aren't white, they are all greyed-out ! Everything works, just not displaying in white..... Battery and Charging, set alarms, time are in white and correct..... Is there anything I am missing ????

You have to sync your Google account to the phone for them to turn white.

What baseband are you useing now? and the update is useing ff19, might be your problem. You can change the baseband if it is different!

FE16 is my current BB. I don't think CTMod 3.75 changed that (but I didn't check when I had 3.75 installed). On 3.68, I experimented with different basebands and found that FE16 was best/most consistent.

Is FF19 a new baseband?

Newest I guess. I didn't check either but he said it is in the op. If that is the case then that might be your problem:rolleyes:

Well, again.......... THANKS, Bloodawn..... ALLLLLLLLL and EVERYTHING works great now after applying the WiFi patch..... So far noooooo problems at all....Just not sure if I'll stay with FF19 or if I go back to FE16..... time will tell...

PS: Just one more little thing Bloodawn.... I've sent you a couple of weeks ago a PM with a question.... ( you probably were busy with CTMod ) would be great if you could let me know ! Thanks.

PS: Where do I find your new wallpaper ( or background ) that comes with CTMod3.75 ?? ( which folder or what name ! )

can you send me the pm again? I think i accidentally deleted it when my box was full.

for the wallpaper pull framework-res.apk out of the CT zip, place it on your desktop, open the apk with 7zip, go to res > drawable-mdpi > and pull out default_wallpaper.jpg

Thx, Will do !

EDIT :

Well, so I updated CTMod and made a few extra changes to my little Prevail :

On my 32GB/class10 card, I have the following patitions :

- Fat32 ( 23.5GB )
- sdext4 ( 2GB )
- sdext4 ( 2GB, just in case I want to try or switch to SSM )
- swap ( 2GB ) finally have setup the swap file

As recovery, I run currently have TWRP ( which works great for me )

And last, of course CTMod3.75..... ( seems to be perfect now, that the compass works too. ;) )

And this little Prevail screams and rocks !!! LOL :) :) :)

I am a very happy camper right now..... Thanks again Bloodawn !!!

What do you guys do when you start running out of space to install/use apps? I tend to run out quickly and can't seem to clear up any more space.

I got a 16 GB San Disk Class 10 Micro SD card capable of 30 MB/s transfer speeds for 20 bucks at Best Buy, so I didn't feel so bad haha. Anyway, reflashed CTMod, then I partitioned the new SD to 1024kb instead of 2048, and then adjusted my voltage control to deadline and iso with a min of 480 and a max of 900, and the phone is just flying. Menus are fast acting, no lagging between screens, working great. Thanks so much for helping me figure this out.

Ok, still a newbie. I've been having problems with a slow running phone, apps loading etc. So if I go buy a 10micro SD card, do I then have to download all my apps again when changing to a new SD card? Also, before i do that, I just installed the CT3.75 for my prevail (previously on 3.68). I backed up my phone before installing and I also have Titanium backup. How do I reinstall my apps etc from the backup or titanium backup after installing the CT3.75. thanks, still a newbie here.

Hi,

that depends a bit on the apps you run ! Most run at full speed MAX 946 and MIN 200 ! I run max. 900 and min. 320

If some apps are acting goofy, you might need to lower the max or increase the min !

Well, after upgrading or using a new ROM, it's always recommended to re-download and re-install all your apps from the market.

I just used Titanium Backup ( paid version ) to do a full restore and it was NOT good, since some system apps got somhow screwed up..... So I re-flashed CTMod3.75 and only restored some of my user apps and re-downloaded the rest from the market, now everything is fine and great ! :)

1. you go to the Play Store and re-download and install your apps ( and sync your contacts with your Google account )
or
2. you use TB ( or any other backup program ) and restore the user apps this way.... Would NOT restore system apps !!!

How do i restore my apps and stuff while still having ctmod 3.75? Nice work btw

You redownload them from the market ;)

This is a complete overhaul of the rom. Its no longer based on a rom for the admire. Its now made from the newest stock rom from boost.

If you use titanium backup or try to restore data from your backup, you're gonna have a bad time (force closes, system instability, perhaps random reboots... freezes... etc...)

So why even use titanium backup, I'm confused. Maybe that's why I had such a bad time, I think I used TB before. My phone forced closed all the time. Still wondering then, why use TB if you have to reinstall all your apps from the market. Thanks again for your help

Hi,

well, my opinion is, that Titanium Backup is useful if you want to restore most of your user apps, like games, sport stuff, etc..... If you restore EVERYTHING from TB, you will ( like LV said ) have a bad time !! I did a full TB restore last night and my phone just frooze !!! I needed to re-flash CTMod3.75, configure koumamod again and then, I just selected my personal apps I use, like games, news, sports, utilities, etc....... but I deselected all ( to me ) known system apps...... This way, everything went great and my little Prevail is like a Ferrari now !! ;)

My experience with TB has been so-so. Ive found that in most cases its safe to reinstall just the app, but if you reinstall the user data parts (i think thats what its called), things can go wrong. If you really want to back up your apps a safe way, I suggest using ES File Explorer. Select the AppMgr button, and it compiles a list of installed apps. Long press on an app and select BackUp. It will then be placed into a folder on the sd card called "backups". Before you flash a new rom, make sure this folder is saved in a safe place like on a PC, just incase it gets erased. You can go into this folder with ES File Explorer and reinstall your apps. :D

Is anybody else getting an error when trying to sign into a google account after flashing 3.75? I'm having this issue and am not exactly sure why

UPDATE: Solved the problem by generating an application specific password. If you have two-factor authentication enabled, use an application specific password when you log in instead of your password
