Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

one more question, can anyone direct me to a thread where i can get better signal for my phone? when im at my apt the signal jumps all over the place and cause i got no internet and i used the phone's it gets crappy at times, or should it be fixed with this update?

To reiterate for those that haven't read the Changelog of the OP, Themes for older versions of CTMod DO NOT work on CTMod 3.75, please stop using themes that were made before the final version, THEY WILL NOT WORK, not to sound mean or anything, but IS THIS CLEAR ENOUGH NOW??? Lol!! :p

Nope.

I flashed CTMod 3.75 successfully and everything was working beautifully but after I flashed the Carbon-Lite 2.0 theme and rebooted, the phone stops at a black screen that says "SAMSUNG Galaxy Prevail" and then does nothing else. I can access CWM but don't know what I should do to fix this. Have I done something wrong and bricked my phone or is there a way to fix this issue?

Thank you.

But, but Mr Slayer: this one seems to work fine for me!!! :D:D:D

Tried it just with the changed baseband.. still nada.. :banghead:

I guess it's another try with straight up FE16.

I'm at a total loss. I go back to FE16 and now that wont work.
I follow the tutorial to the letter and constantly freeze at the Kouma Kernel boot screen after switching to data. I let the phone reboot for about an hour.

Any one have anyyyyyy ideas or suggestions for me?

After switching to "DATA", did you immediately boot into CWM Recovery and formatted your sdext again ?

YES or NO ?????

YES!

As I said I followed the dummy's guide. I guess I'm under qualified.

ODIN (reboot), Power off, Boot to CWM, Partition, Mount, Copy CTMOD, UNMount, Install CTMod, Reboot, Grant all SU pop-ups (even double checked in SU), DATA, reboot recovery, format sdext, reboot, FREEZE.

I maybe confusing myself, I wiped the phone started from scratch and am about to flash the new Ctmod3.75final, and it says it based on ff19.

I came from a ee14/fa19/fe16-rt-cwm & and would flash it from there. Since ff19 is an update from fe16, but does not have cwm, do I have to install cwm again?

Right now my phone is at an fe16 with Root and CWM installed. (SPHM820_FE16_ROOT_CWM__2_.zip)

I was going to flash ff19rooted.zipthen flash the new CTMod, but again w3ill I have to reinstall CWM before that since it's not included in the zip?

Well, I had this happen ONCE...... that nothing but absolutely nothing would work and it always frooze at the Kouma Logo !! In my case, it was the SD-Card !! I have like 7 or 8 sd-cards from 2GB to 32GB...... but this ONE sd-card ( 16GB ), I never ever could make it work in the Prevail..... even if this card worked fine in cameras, MP3-Players and on the computer..... Was/is just not working in the Prevail !!

My advise, try a different sd-card !!!

It WAS working just fine. It was working fine the day final came out. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong.

As I said, might be the sd-card and not you...... Before you go crazy, just try a different brand of card and start from scratch !! Sd-Cards can go bad.......

All you have to do is boot into cwm and flash ctmod, it doesn't matter what baseband your on.

And btw, cwm is included with ff19rooted.zip

Just thought I'd drop a note to say I tried data on kouma with both my existing sd card and settings and a fresh sd card, following directions, not following directions, yelling at it and whispering sweet nothings at it.... Every time it hangs on the kouma load screen and never boots past it. Recovered fine, but this never happened on 3.68 to me. Saw someone else had this problem, so just gonna stalk you guys til I figure out what I did wrong :P
On a nicer note, thank you for all the work you have put in to keep an outdated phone my favorite I have ever had. I will be upgrading soon, still haven't decided to what (was hoping a Rush but nobody has jailbroken it yet?) and I know this phone will be my backup for years to come. Even now with phones 5 times better I have people compliment the customization on mine... you guys made this little phone so beautiful, both to look at and to use. Cheers!

And nobody will EVER jailbreak it... its not a iPhone... :D:p

It however DOES have root... and a 90% working recovery... (won't restore backups) it even has Odin for purposes of unbricking ;)

They are sure to see development soon... they have Shabby Penguin and the OUDHS on top of things.

So, last night I decided to "upgrade" to 3.75 from 3.63 or 3.68 (whichever it was) and am now having issues with the graphics and the phone in general running much slower with a lag. I get a lag when choosing something to open on such simple apps as messaging. I even get a lag when typing text in messaging. Lag in general in most everything I do and prob 75% of the time. I have not added any different apps than I had before. I am using darktremors a2sd and have a class 10 16GB card with 4096 and 0 swap settings. Which leaves 11.09GB total space on SD card with 8.97GB available space. Internal storage says 26.45MB available space.

It seems to work fine when rebooted or turned on...For awhile. And then goes down hill from there. Any ideas or thoughts? If it continues without any possible recommended fixes I am okay just doing it all again. Just don't want to do it again right now...

On a side note: Normally (in the past) when you slid down the notification screen from the top to turn on wifi you tapped it, it lit up and it was on. Now it is the opposite. My wifi is on when is not highlighted and off when it is highlighted. The data icon still works as it used to. Is this a bug?

Your problem might be related to dark tremors... koumakernel has that feature built in... you just need to format the partition you created, and change it to data mode. (This will essentially perform a factory reset, but will use the partition you created as internal memory... not symlink apps. )

Your problem may also be related to the 4GB partition you created. It may simply be too large. I have over 100 apps installed and never went over 500mb. 4gigs is simply overkill, you're never going to come even close to that number, especially using DTa2sd.

Another thing to take into account is the number of apps you use that run in the background. They may just be taking up too much ram for a stable system.

And the WiFi icon is a known bug

I saw the thread mentioning the koumakernel partition feature. I will refer to that thread! Preciate the heads up! And I also want to believe what you said about the partition size as last go around (and previous ones) I had used a 2GB partition. I had mistakenly used the premise as with most HDDs that the more empty space on a drive the quicker and more efficient it would run. Once again, thanks for the heads up! Will probably just go ahead and redo everything again in the proper manner here in the next few days.

Props!
