Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

See my edited post.

I'm almost certain you still have the stock recovery and luckily rom manager didn't install anything. If you didn't see anything like the second picture (those specific options) then that is the case.

Edit- you say you say you are rooted... what method did you use to root?

If it was the root for dummies guide, you ALREADY HAVE CWM. And have no need for rom manager in the first place. Just download the rom at the beginning of this thread and boot into recovery and install it. The one you had downloaded is for the lg marquee.

Your problem might be related to dark tremors... koumakernel has that feature built in... you just need to format the partition you created, and change it to data mode. (This will essentially perform a factory reset, but will use the partition you created as internal memory... not symlink apps. )

Your problem may also be related to the 4GB partition you created. It may simply be too large. I have over 100 apps installed and never went over 500mb. 4gigs is simply overkill, you're never going to come even close to that number, especially using DTa2sd...

Okay, re-installed 3.75. re-Partioned sd card to 2048MB with 0 swap.Went into Koumamod Settings and changed from None (Default) to Data. Never installed DTa2SD...

Still very laggy. Don't believe it to be background apps as I have not added anything more than I have in past. Less actually. 2048MB partition shouldn't be the issue either as that is what I have used in the past. It seems that there are fresh posts about lag as well. I am going to give it a day but I see myself going back to 3.68 it seems. There are some things that I like better about this version, such as auto-lock when making calls...But not worth the lag by no means...

One last thing...I saw this in the dummies guide...

...(make sure to check "disable internal data" when using /data mode)...

Never see that option. Just the one checkbox to change to Data. No additional options in regards to disabling internal data. And while we are at it...Do I mess with Swap settings at all?

Hi guys just wanted to say that i have been running 3.75 for a few days and at points i also get lag until i have to eventually reboot or it freezes...

^ Exactly what happens to me and what I end up having to do...

You should know this..
I was stuck on the samsung boot screen before unlock screen a few weeks ago First time using odin at the time. I can not confirm at this time which rom I chose, rooted or factory reset being the original file is on my girlfriends laptop which I wont know until saturday.. The fact Superuser being on my phone raises my question-it must be rooted, I don't remember it prior and it doesn't uninstall..

Also I skimmed the root for dummies guide for basic info. I didn't download anything from that app in that thread..

The very presence of superuser means you are indeed rooted. If you follow the root for dummies guide it will link you to all the correct downloads and explain how to set up the correct ctmod and set it up properly with as much or as little extra memory as you like

But again. I would read first.

And then start with the chapter about ct mod and koumakernel

Thanks again, before deciding to do this I did research most of the terms and steps.. I viewed this thread many times mostly on android browser and never once noticed the link being present to cwm.. and I apologize for that being my stupidity, and when I access our laptop I will view that rom again and inform you via msg, is it possible that unrooted devices can dl superuser and by default have it so you cannot uninstall it?

The reason I wanted ct mod was the performance cited and to easily flash to it, I wanted to use odin but with an app that does so I assumed I could do it directly from the phone :/ plus the theme looked amazing. before I do anything else in this I will check the rom again just in case.

Nope, if you have super user as system app (meaning you can't uninstall it by normal methods) it means your are rooted. Being that all of the Odin images with root also have cwm, you can already easily flash ctmod. If you download the correct version from this thread, then boot into cwm (volume up + power from a powered off phone) and select install zip from sdcard then choose zip from sdcard, then select the correct version of ctmod and finally select yes, it will install just fine

The other version didn't install because thankfully it checks to see if it it's the correct phone before proceeding.

Keep in mind, I'm not scolding you, just suggesting that you may need a little research as to exactly what you are doing. This is because changing aspects of the phone at this level can render your phone unusable, if you install things not meant for your device.

feel free to pm me with (or post in the appropriate thread) any questions/concerns you have and either me or one of the other awesome people on this forum will gladly help you sort it out
:)

Oh and welcome to Android forums.

Its to hard for me to quote n type all these texts from past posts using nothing but this phone, but one page back, to Blood & Lord, the BadAssMusicInstaller.zip did the trick, exactly what I was talking aboot.
thanks

The very presence of superuser means you are indeed rooted.

I thought that was true but when I tried to root my tablet, I flashed the root zip and it installed SU so I thought I was rooted. I then tried to install Titanium And Root Explorer. Titanium said I wasnt rooted and Root Explorer wouldn't give me root access to files. Sooooo I went to the SU app and ran the root check, sure enough, it said I wasn't rooted.

Edit:
The app was SuperSU. Still, it installed but with no root. I had always thought that if you had SU or SuperSU then you were rooted. Wasn't the case with my tablet though.

The Super User app may be different from The Super SU app.

I meant specifically with the prevail. If he used Odin, and su was there, he's rooted. :p

Gotcha. I see what ya mean now. He flashed the rooted Odin files.

Ya know, that's one thing about The Prevail, it has Odin. Lord knows Odin had saved my tail on quite a few occasions. Lol

Edit:

After rooting 3 devices, The Prevail With Odin is by far the easiest. :D

It installs recovery and roots.

Yeah... were WAY past that now :p:p:p he didn't actually install cwm with rom manager. If he had, it would have overwritten the partition that contains the arm boot.

For those who run this phone without service (airplane mode) and on WiFi only:
CTmod 3.75 *STILL* needs my apk to force on WiFi, and set timezone. Read about it here: http://androidforums.com/application-announcements/629026-some-apps-written-me.html

So far, the newer version seems a lot more stable than 3.68. Great job!

Note to Bloodawn: Please oh please start including my app in CTmod. I can include other bits in the app such as the CPU settings, and anything else that is needed, in a smaller apk if that is the sort of bate needed for you guys to take a bite and consider it. Just let me know.

Anybody experiencing problems with the play store? Sometimes it will take a long time to just tell me the connection time out could it be cause my signal jumps all over the place?

I think I saw this somewhere in the massive amount of comments on this thread, but I cant get back into recovery and the option from the shut down menu does not have a recovery option. I guess I will have to odin back to factory rooted and try this again.

You don't need to use Odin, just reflash the rom and if that doesn't fix it try downloading it again.

Yes that is happening to me as well seems to go with the lag I am experiencing as well.

I really believe the lag is from the voltage control apk that comes with 3.75 i switched to the play store version and phone has been running great ever since.....also sd booster from the play store makes my phone even faster ( i believe that we're not supposed to need it with 3.75 but it works)

That wouldnt work if I cant get into recovery mode. While attempting to get into download mode to use odin I discovered recovery mode is vol up and power. On my phone it used to be vol down and power. So all is well now.

Once I was able to get into recovery mode I partitioned my sd card, manually formatted all partitions and mounted them and installed the rom. It seems to load fine, but just to be on the safe side I did a factory reset twice and now everything is a go for me to start installing my apps and stuff. Now I just need some themes and I saw a few a couple pages back.

After flashing CTMod 3.75 I'm experiencing some issues. I don't Know if there is something wrong with my apps that I backed up with Titanium Backup or what but when I restore all my apps my phone will go into a boot loop. That has only happened once though. My internet, both WIFI and Data where being super slow at loading things like the Play store and Facebook. My most frequent issue I am having is my phone will lag really really bad. I will open up an app and it will freeze and I have to pull my battery in order to get out of it. For some reason when I take a picture it will freeze for about 10 seconds and than I'm good. My main problem is just the freezing and the lag even though my phone is overclocked with the I/O Scheduler on 'Noop' my Governor is set to 'SmartassV2' and my Minimum frequency is set to 300 Mhz and Maximum is 1200 Mhz. I know Bloodawn has been working so hard on this ROM and people with the LG Marquee can't begin to thank him enough. We admire the work you do and even though I am experiencing these problems I will still continue to use this ROM. I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing these issues or if it is just me. Thank you. :)

recovery has ALWAYS been vol up + power on the prevail. AFAIK, you can't change that.(without remapping the keys, and I'm not even sure that will work)

mounting and formatting the partitions was unnecessary, the script that installs the rom does this for you.

The problem is that the entire base of the rom has changed. You are restoring data that is associated with the previous rom. There is a reason the rom formatted the data partition... to REMOVE user data that isn't compatible with the new rom. By using titanium backup, you're putting it all back

That has only happened once though. My internet, both WIFI and Data where being super slow at loading things like the Play store and Facebook. My most frequent issue I am having is my phone will lag really really bad.

try replacing the version of voltage control in the rom with the one found in the play store. Someone just reported that to have solved their lag problems

try and do a fresh install WITHOUT RESTORING any data and see if your problems persist

Edit- Thadd... did you unintentionally post in the prevail section? We can't clock to 1200 :D:D:D

What are these updated files called? I see update 1.1 and update 2.0, but cant find them in the orignal post, I only see the wifi fix.

Wait so this lets the phone be wiring only. So there's no more damn signal beep?
This sounds like something I need.
One question though.
Does it let you receive texts and calls OIP?

Bloodawn Lordvincent 90 anyone else .... Please Help

what about the arguments for keeping ext2?
as described here,
it says that ext 2 is less damaging to sd card and faster...?

http://androidforums.com/hero-all-things-root/226167-ext2-ext3-ext4.html

http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/257824-ext2-vs-ext3-vs-ext4-what-better-why.html

also...
can i please get a step by step guide to set up my phone with my new sd card (32 gig C10) when i do a fresh install with the latest ct mod?

i want the best performance and optimized configuration options, many of which i may not be aware of like...

on the new sd card
-at least 1 or 2 gigs partitioned and dedicated for virtual RAM memory
-at least 1 or 2 gigs partitioned and dedicated for storing all apps and related data files, text messages, cache and anything else that the phone stores on the sd card and not on the internal memory.
-the remainder of the sd card can be used to store music and pictures

i currently have the ctmod 3.68 and slow 2 gig card with no special partitions or ability to have virtual RAM or application partition to keep all junk from filling my internal memeory.

please help me with this, i am a first time new user of this but i have a rooted phone with cwm v5.0.2.7

i also need to know what the specific settings are for the greatest performance and stability and where to find them and what the specific order of actions to take to get my phone to be the best possible performance

thanks you very much for the detailed instructions to make this easy for the novice to set up the phone with the best performance features.
