Root [ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the LG Optimus M MS690

Greetings,
I spent the day yesterday reading this thread and I am feeling confident about giving this a go.

My question is that I have seen a bunch of mentions that the SD card needs to be partitioned. I do not see this step in the wiki. Is it necessary and if it is could you please include n00b proof steps.

I have an 8gb class 4 SD card

I am a first time flasher. I have only rooted and changed my PRL from 3019 to 3024.

Cheers
You don't need to partition your SD card for this ROM.

Does it matter if you flash over 2.2 vs 2.2.1? I have 2.2 and I simply can't get pasted the bootscreen. I've read multiple threads, followed all suggestions but no luck. Also tried Rappard's rom but same issue, can't get past boot screen (removed battery multiple times and let it stay idle for 10 mins.

Edit: nevermind - needed to make sure I had the gingerbread root apk instead of z4root. worked like a charm after that update.

I can't honestly say what happened but i lost my android market as well as my App2SD Gui, my ROM Manager GUI and my Superuser GUI.

The funny this is that all of these still function (except for the market) as properly, I just cant use them. Primarily, I would like to recover the market though, the rest is not as important.

If someone could help, that would be awesome

EDIT: I lost root/superuser capabilities actually. root explorer no longer works, that's how I found out

Has anybody been having force close problems on the new market layout when they added a GAMES section under books? Cuz after i saw that all i get if force closes

Lower your overckock settings and try that. Things that f/c on me usally stop after i lower o/c settings. Thats all i can think of hope it helps.

awesome.

In the meantime, i should be able to build the module and install it if i use the kernel config from your kernel?

Just flashed to this rom from the sense rom yesterday and im loving it! The only issue im having still is with mms even though I applied the patch, perhaps I should try it again? Sometimes i can send pics and sometimes I cant. As far as text converting to mms it just doesnt happen. The message used to get long and it would say converting to mms but it never says that and if its too long it just wont send it. Should i just reflash the patch and see if it works correctly?

in the msg app settings have you set to split msg's over 160 chars?

thx again, FUSE is kernel module that allows filesystems in userspace. For instance like I would enjoy using SSHFS to mount filesystems remotely and securely :)

for some quick info check it out, and look at the long list of other examples FUSE

I will definitely have to download all 3 sources and peek around.

will have to see if a phone is even capible of that since its doesnt use traditional user space like a pc does. Far as compiling the kernel for it tho, I'm sure that can be done, just if it can actually be used is the question. ;)

Excellent ROM, PlayfulGod. I switched over from reppards build to this one since it's newer. Rock solid. Thanks!

CWM is now available in ROM Manager!!!!!!!! At the moment its listed as LG Optimus C LW690, but I have requested that LG Optimus M MS910 be added to it or listed as well.

;)

Cool! Has any one tried this yet? I looked and when I went to the flash cwm option it only listed the ms690 instead of everything like it did before. I assume that's because ROM manager recognized my phone and showed me only what was compatible fire my phone. I was gonna do it but it said the recommended only to download on wifi. I haven't been home yet today to do that.

I have no confirmed reports on the M yet, but worked great on my wifes C. Its only a 5MB file or so, so long as you have a good 3G signal you should be fine, not if you just have 1x, I'd wait til you can use wifi lol

I have just tried it, and it worked as advertised! I went into ROM Manager and selected to flash CWM. It gave me only the m?690 (can't remember the letter now for Cricket) rather than all the options like it did before. I selected it and it flashed. Gave me the message stating that the flash was successful. I then decided to test it by booting into recovery. I selected the option from right in ROM Manager. Shortly there after I was in recovery. All is well in life now.

Can also confirm that ROM Manager detects our Optimus M as an Optimus C and will flash a working ClockWork Mid custom recovery.

This makes using RM for flashing a custom recovery an option! Also lets you use some of the RM features! This is awesome!

Sweet. Would be nice to have all the OM ROMS in the portal.

Also, I was originally on reppards recovery. Looks like ROM Manager used GNM recovery as their "official". Even has the GNM tag at the end still in recovery at the bottom of the screen.
