[ROM] DarkSlide v4.2

^^ Dev is BB Crackman over at My droid world. There's a blur and blurless. I'm going to flash it today.

Verbage:

ROM] DarkSlide v4.2
We have combined the update 4.2 with the 4.1 ROM to bring the Full DarkSlide v4.2 ROM. If you have applied the update there is no need to install this ROM unless you really want too. We have included all DarkSlide options in the DarkSlide/Add-on folder that is on your sdcard so you wont have to search for it.

Disclaimer: MyDroidWorld, Gatesjunior nor I are responsible for any damage to your device that may or may not occur. You are installing this at your own risk. ALWAYS follow instructions completely....

You need to at least be on 2.3.32 prior to installing this ROM

Install:
Bootstrap recovery
Mount System
Wipe data/factory reset (if all ready on DarkSlide there is not a need to do this step)
Install from zip
choose zip
choose DarkSlide
Install
Reboot
Enjoy

Ran DS a few versions back and liked it. I am guessing this is nice but I am liking Liberty right now and want to try TranQ as well. So many ROMs so little time...

tranq is nice, but all the animations for me just kinda got old real fast, it didnt feel as fast as it could be, but im coming from apex

I would try this rom but im not a big fan of the battery indicator for some reason, i think its ugly, and me personally i dont want anything ugly on my phone lol, but other than the battery indicator at top this rom looks gorgeous, if there was a theme to overlay the battery and keep the rest of the settings, i most definetaly would flash the rom
 
I've been running darkslide for quite a while now. So far its the quickest and most stable rom I've tried. Ran tranQ for a while but the random reboots were driving me crazy, haven't had a single one on darkslide yet.

The latest TranQ is fantastic and very stable. I am not running it but I have it backed up as a favored rom in my collection.

I had trouble with the last version of DarkSlide, but this one is different.
 
I just flashed the blur version of DarkSlide and set up my homescreen widgets on it. I use GoLauncher because I have a lot of homescreens. ;)

There were no conflicts immediately noticeable in this rom and it was very smooth. Of course, I'm running auto kill, so that helps everything be smooth. ;)

I like the look and feel of this rom very much. It is yet another top contender for DX user's use and donation.

It shares the same TranQ toolbox as TranQ has, which confused me. I pressed the wrong option in the toolbox and found myself booted into the TranQ rom. In order to get back into "pure DarkSlide" I did a factory reset and started over. If someone understands the relationship between BBCrackman's work and P3Droid's, I'd appreciate some insight as it confused me. In the TranQ toolbox DarkSlide shows up as a theme, but it is also downloadable as a Rom.

Some downsides of this are that the text in the notifications are a black font on a gray background in the pulldown menus. You just can't really see it. That's a showstopper, personally, for me. It seems as if it would be an easy fix.

HowEVER, I do like it. It's a legitimate rom and I would recommend it to newbies as easy to install and stable. It's also handsome and edgy artistically.

I'll add to this as I work with it more.


Edit:

1) The settings pop-up is the old gray, not black, just like the old roms not based on gingerbread. I don't like that personally.
2) The very dark pull-down menu is easier to see with a lighter wallpaper, fyi.

Just flashed and so far so good.

On another note, was wondering about Fab's clock removal mod because I really don't like a clock in the notification bar anymore lol, flashed and so far that's running just fine. No clock makes me happy!

Edit:

random reboots while in market (not saying it's the market etc, but that's where I've been) rebooted 4 times while searching for files etc. Cleared cache on market before using it and after flashing the .11 black theme.
 
I am really enjoying this rom ..so far so good ...steven I was wondering the same about the tranq toolbox? Other than that I really like this rom ....im on the blur version now and will be flashing non blur shortly

In the app drawer. It says TranQ Toolbox, fyi.
 
Interesting, I don't have the toolbox. I am running the Darkslide V4.1 with the V4.2 Update. I wonder if the toolbox is only in the V4.2 full ROM.
 
So from what I am reading the TranQ Toolbox will not work with Darkslide. It appears that its just a remnant from the TranQ base and should be removed. Trying to get confirmation.

huh... it worked to add to add blur social networking.. unless it was there already. I'll check it out.

Lol as do I ........ sorry about not posting a non blur review yet im out and about with a 30% batt and will have to wait until I get home to flash or in the morning sometime

I installed 4.2 full rom and have no toolbox. Came over from Apex and that's the only other rom i've had on this phone.
 
Love this ROM. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and have found it to be fast and stable. Have not found a single bug. I have been able to overclock with more stability with this ROM as well.

Now that I have a nice green and blacked themed Liberty (thanks to jonathanmsims excellent work) I am having a tough time choosing between the two. I have been changing back and forth every couple of hours.
