Root [ROM] KANAIDA - Shang Tsung 1 (ICS 4.0.4)

What if this Rom works but what might be wrong is that our cwm recovery is not ics compatible like we can't use this cwmr to flash ics Cuz its not supported by our version the spectrum has 6.0.1.1 we have 5.8.3.1 just a thought

LOL trust me this device can handle ics... but we need a proper ics kernel in order for it work.;)

I get what ur sayin cause we had a similar problem if I remember correctly on the ascend with cwm and having to put a different recovery on it to get certain v. of cm7 to work on it and that phone came with 2.1 (up untill they gave us an update to 2.2) and cm7 is based off 2.3 gb. U may b on something with what ur sayin. Cause yes our phones r compatible or at least should b, with ics, but maybe our recovery isnt is what he is trying to get at @Killah1994

I guess it can be a possibility.
When I first rooted my connect a while back, I think I may have used tools for a different device but I ended up with cwmr v 6.0.0.1. I remember this because I flashed the connect cwm touch because I wanted to see how it was and it was 5.8.3.1. And then when I went to flash it back to regular cmwr it was still 5.8.3.1

See that's what I mean even if we get ics to compile and the kernel we still need a recovery that supports ics ROMs like cm9

CWM 5.8.3.1 does support ICS. Recovery has nothing to do with how Android boots up. In fact, it's called a recovery because you are only supposed to use it if Android doesn't boot up to recover it.

current cwm will work just fine, and if not I can always update it. ;)

The reason the spectrum has a newer version, officially, is because thats was the current version when I finally got it fully working and could build its official version. ;)

Pg again you are the best dev I know for metro Right now there might be others but maybe they aren't showing themselves

Thank y'all for clearing that up for us to know for future reference. And it keeps my string of learning something new everyday alive :-) thx :-)

Hey guys, man had the flu of the century for like a month. Still coughing a bit. I got to thinking about something though. I tried to make the mpcs config, edited a bunch of stuff to get past errors, then built that zip from the output when i didn't get errors anymore. Now i'm thinking of taking the other approach. Build the verizon image to see if it builds without problems. Flash it (using CWM, not the other thing people used). I'm pretty sure that alone will boot, maybe even have service. Then from that point examine the verizon specifics in the code and compare with the metro parts and substitute and or edit the code. It should be less work than what I did, possibly more stable too.

Glad to see you're back Kanaida! :D
God, my family is going through a crazy cough as well, all getting feverish and sore throats only in the morning.
Anyways, I hope you feel better man.
As you know you have all of our support, there are quite a few of us that are willing to test anything on our device.

umm I have it compiling with the metropcs defconfig. ;)

nah just testing to see if what EagleWolf had compiled. I will try to do some testing to see if it boots in the next few days and see what I can do with K's rom.

Been extremely covered up with life and other projects. ;)

You aren't the only one. I just started school Monday.

Yh it is. It would be sort of the same as trying to port the motions stock ICS over to the connect. Or so i would assume.
don't actually no myself :P

Well the spirit is lgms870 we are the ms840 so idk I'm still learning from my mistakes like I'm still trying to figure how to install jb or ics I gotta find the right recovery for the sgh i717
