Root [ROM] Mikfroyo - ALL Versions

Sorry, missed that question. If you have 4.4, you're better off backing up apps and app data with titanium backup, wiping data/cache/dalvik, flashing 4.5, then restoring the apps you need, only, restoring data only when you need to, then changing settings manually. It's can be a pain, but you'll avoid most conflicts that way. You can *try* just updating to 4.5, if you want, without wiping data, but you might have issues. It's up to you if you want to y try, but if you do have any problems, the first thing anyone will suggest is that you wipe data and reflash. Also, you'll have to repush sprint zone again, no matter what you do, it will get wiped out when you flash a new ROM, whether you wipe data or not.

I can't wait to see what kind of themes he's able to make with an odexed ROM. Apparently some stuff is sort of possible. This should be interesting.

Ok so I am trying to flash the MikFroYo v4.5 and i have been at the all white screen that says "htc evo 4g" for about 90 min now .. is this bad... I read that it could take 30 min or more but should it take this long with out doing anything ?? how long should i let it go ? if anyone could pm me or respond here it would be awesome

I would try a battery pull and restart. I have had it hang like that before after a flash. If it does the same thing, you might have to re-wipe and flash it again.

but would it be ok to pull the battery? I dont want to brick it

edit: for what its worth I used option #1 and used the rom manger ... should I try to use "CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY (Manual)"

edit 10min latter: pulled the batt and it rebooted with mikfroyo screen? (that has been going for about 5 min now)

edit: after the banner went away .. it asked me to set up like a new phone so I think this means it worked?

yep you got it. and for the record you should always flash and make nandroid backups manually through recovery. rom manager tends to have issues for most people. it is also good practice to use your recovery rather than rom manager, just in case something goes wrong and all you have is recovery.

Yep, you got it. Not sure why, but it happens sometimes on first boots after installs for some reason. I agree with ocnbrze. It is better to do the stuff manually. It will make you more comfortable with it in case you ever have to fix your phone or someone elses for that matter through recovery.

Yep, you should be good to go. My wife's phone is running Mik 4.4 with the hacked hotspot and works great in the car.

I'm running MikFroyo 4.5 with Netarchy 4.3.1 cfs havs nosbc and I'm having a problem installing the Royal Blue theme. I wiped data/dalvik/cache prior to installing the ROM and wiped dalvik/cache prior to attempting to install the theme.

This is the error I'm receiving:

--Installing: /sdcard/MikRoyalBlue-signed.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/MikRoyalBlue-signed.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted

I've tried using Clockwork 2.6 and 3.0 as well as RA Recovery.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a bad download. Did you try just downloading it again?

I hadn't tried that yet, but I just did and it worked fine.

Thanks akazabam, you've been helpful as always.

No problem :). After a while, you'll get comfortable with certain things in recovery, such as the (sometimes cryptic) error messages it might throw at you.

Trying to flash this but nothing happen, not sure if this is flashable or it should be unzip and the intall as a apk?? wipe cache/dalvik.
MikFroyo 4.5

That is a great kernel the only thing is not all kernels play nice with all phones especially one with HAVS so if you start experiencing issues switch to the same kernel but with less HAVS. Setcpu will work with that kernel and can give you a lot better battery life, the only thing is you need to switch your governor to conservative or anything other than SA governor. You can't use setcpu with a SA governor.

it is always hard to recommend kernels to somebody else because it may react differently on your phone then it does with mine. basically, any of the netarchy toastmod kernels will work with any sense based roms such as mikfroyo's roms. that kernel you have is a good one to start. it is what works for me. some people with more havs kernels will get issues like screen tearing and so for them less havs kernels would be the best.

here is a guide on kernels.

Governor? As in the scaling in the setcpu? I am unable to find a governor anywhere else on the phone. Where would the governor be?
