Root [ROM] - [MikRoms] - [11/23/2011] - MikG v2.61 - Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0

Running 1.02. I'm in love. It is badass.

For the first time ever, I am using the stock messaging app. I like that it finally shows messages on the lockscreen. And since it's Mik, it's fast and smooth and so far, I'm not having any issues with anything. I would LOVE a custom kernel, but I guess that will come with time.

The weather lockscreen is so freaking nice. It's probably my favorite feature of Sense. I'm sure I'll go back to AOSP at some point, but this ROM is going to be tough to give up.

I was just going to ask the same question. Flashing radio stuff makes me nervous. I was waiting for a gbr. Rom where I wouldn't have to mess with radios.

Quick question and I'm not intending to flame here, but why wouldn't one want to flash the new radios? I still consider myself a noob with some of this stuff and I'm truly trying to understand. I flashed them when they became available. Is that a bad thing?

radios are hit or miss...1.77 was the best pack in most's opinion with great battery life and signal strength and most compatible with custom roms. I have been using the new radios and they don't seem to bad.

In the past, some radios prevented the phone from sleeping when turned off (100% awake time)

Well, for me, I've read all the warnings about the possibility of borking your phone. Its just like all the people that were rooted and flashed the ota anyway. They did it because they didn't read the threads not to do it. I read everything before I jump into something. Messing with your radios is completely different than flashing roms, you can really screw up your phone if you don't know what your doing. That said, that's why back ups are your friend. I know 2 different people who made back ups and messed with the radios and borked their phones. Not recently, but the lesson is remembered. I don't just jump into something without researching it, that's how mistakes are made.
By the way frenchy thanks for the answer. ;)

I'm thinking of flashing this ROM but do I need the kernel to go with it? I've never flashed a kernal or radio. In fact, the GB ROM was the first ROM I ever flashed and I'm nervous. Thanks in advance. :)

the kernal should be included in the ROM. Flashing a kernal is just like flashing a ROM except you dont wipe data. It's simple now go flash a netarchy kernal :D

This rom comes with the needed kernel. So don't worry about it. Just flash the room and enjoy!

Of course, you want to make a nandroid back, and wipe data/cache/dalvik cache before you flash!

Just downloaded 1.02 and made a nandroid backup. This is a great ROM. Once Netflix is fixed, this may be my every day ROM.

So if I'm understanding correctly, I can go right to this rom from Koni's elite 3? I don't need to flash the radios unless there are issues running this rom? Last questions, this is sense based and it appears everything is working? Thanks so much ;) I needs gingerbread ..lol

Ok downloading now and keeping fingers crossed I don't run into user error. :p I have so many tabs open on my laptop, it's gonna explode! ;)

Hey, here's a silly ?...seems every time I get ready to do this, my battery is ~50%. Does the battery need to be full or not when I flash a ROM?

you're good at 50%. I've flashed with as little 30%. But I wouldn't go below that.

You need enough that you can get through and boot it without dying. It doesn't charge in recovery. I suggest 50 percent plus, though in fairness if ya get the hang of flashing I've actually started at 10 percent....only takes a minute after a while.

It's always recommended to do a full wipe before flashing a different rom. I think MikG is odexed while Koni's is de-odexed. So you might run into problems. Also, I think MikG will wipe when you flash it. So...right, no need to flash the new radios. And yes, everything is working. If it's not, you didn't wipe properly.

Thanks so much for the answers, since I might run into problems because Koni's is de-odexed what could I do to prevent that? Flash something else first?

One more ? for the night...I'm reinstalling everything through TB but how do I get some of the Sprint apps back, like NFL and SprintTV?
