Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM7 build 2013-03-03

Can you send me a logcat so I can look into this. I have yet to have a reboot since I installed 10

Is it possible to implement this: https://www.otaupdatecenter.pro/ into the newer ROMs? Seems like it would be a lot easier. Instead of flashing every new build, we could just update to the newer ROM just as if we were on stock Android. I'm still running the g60 style-final build cause of an incident I had with a bad nandroid flash. It kept saying the MD5 wasn't correct and everything I tried on a Google search wouldn't fix it so I had to start over with my whole set-up. Still thinking that I'm going to flash this build soon. Thanks for all the development and continued progress with the Triumph!!! You are keeping my phone alive and as current as it can get.

I've looked into this before. I question the ability to maintain accuracy in the code. With our current method we have the MD5CheckSum that at least says the file you downloaded is the same as the file that was uploaded. That of corse assumes the user does a check on the file before flashing.

On top of that, right now the user could run what ever part of the work they would want. i.e. 8-10, 8-6, or what ever.

Yaaay! :D But I will definitely have time to test the governors out for you or any mods you release! You guys have done so much to make a beast out of this phone and I would like to help out in any way possible! (Since I'm not a dev or anything haha)

Oh btw I don't know if you guys saw my older post maybe a few pages back about the "event4" wakelock that prevents deep sleep but I've done a little bit of research on it. I didn't find much about what it is exactly but it seems that the wakelock did occur in some of Whyzor's CM7 TG-Reloaded builds. Whyzor posted that he saw some "event" wakelocks occuring like "event4" and "event2." He released a kernel that seemed to have fixed these wakelocks and they can be seen in this post.

Maybe there's a way to implement his fixes into this rom?

Right now we're running Whyzor's kernel. It has a couple of changes (proximity fix, and I think the video drivers) but his wake lock work is his latest.

So for Gingerbread is this recommended over G60 Style? I've been running that for a while now but I'll use this if it's better in your opinion.

The general consensus is this version is more stable. I know it has better GPS singnaling, you can thank chairshot for that. I know the code is more pure, you can thank g60 for that. I think it is, personally, but I've built on both. I know I was getting about 18 hours on the g60 code. Now i have been up to 24 hours on a single charge. And that's with a normal (for me) use.

Can someone tell me how to make the 4 buttons at the bottom of the phone to stop flickering. Other thab that its an amazing rom.

I keep seeing this, but I don't have that problem. I wonder if it's flickering or just moving between levels of brightness quickly.

I'll ask again. For the people who have this issue, could you change your button brightness to a more consistant let if levels?

Basicly what I mean is if you set the button numbers to something simular, like 32, then tell us if it still flickers. I would go above where it is now.

I see this, but it only happens when I am turning on the device when the screen is off. It's based on the light levels as I have the Auto Brightness checked. Because I set the level to 1 millisecond for auto brightness I think this is what is causing the problem. Basically when the phone turns on the button lights fire up bright and then dim down based on the light level so it looks like a flicker because of the 1 millisecond. Is this what others are seeing?

I have my brightness all the way up and my screen is bright but the buttons are dim and if you shake the phone a little you can tell its flickering. It has happened to me on all the cm7s.

I have had trouble getting airplane mode to work on cm7. Cm9 just sent me into a reboot frenzy. I downloaded cm9 twice.

The flicker while shaking would be normal. That's due to duty cycling the light to get an average output that we perceive as a dimmer backlight. I know g60 found the sitting delay and reduced out to get rid of the delay that would occur when the phone is turned on. I see mine kinda blink when I'm in the right lighting. That's caused by my phone being at that threshold where the buttons are at the brightest setting and off.

I was at a friends cabin this past weekend and he started playing with my phone. I showed him some of the features and enhancements gained by rooting and using custom ROMs (specifically this ROM). I think I may have converted an iPhone 3 user to the Dark Side. As mentioned before, he tries to switch my phone to hotspot so he can use my 3G. He is starting to hate AT&T's $90 phone bill and no 3G at the cabin. I get my best 3G speeds up there for some reason (1.2 down and 600 up). Way better than in my living room at home.

Mor like the light side. I think it's way less evil to allow someone to have control of their phone than the restrictions that the Apple product have.

FYI: Yesterday, I had an amazing 58% battery remaining at the end of the day; Today I only have 28%, which is closer to my average.

Yesterday, my phone was deep sleeping fine after I turned off WiFi. This morning, I noticed that my phone wasn't going to deep sleep (CPU Spy), even though I turned off WiFi (and even turned WiFi on and back off again), though a reboot got it to deep sleep again.

So there still seem to be some issues with deep sleep. I'm pretty sure, though I didn't check every time, that the Sharp 2.2 ROM was deep sleeping correctly whenever WiFi was turned off.

PS: I always had Bluetooth off.

The back button not responding is a known problem. You can try rotating the phone or just waiting 5 seconds before you try pushing the button again as a temporary fix. I'm not sure if there is a permanent fix

Hi Everyone, this is my first post but I have been reading the forums for a while. I have been running this rom for the past few days now and it is fantastic! The devs really did a bang-up job on this one! Everything runs so smooth, battery life is great, GPS is quick. Just wanted to say thank you for such a great rom!
Looking forward to CM9 once the camera is working! :)

Hey g60, first thanks to you and MTDEV for all the hard work you've done on these ROM's.

I got you a logcat. This was done using aLogCat, and was saved immediately after the phone booted back up, after a spontaneous reboot. Here ya go:

You may have seen me post this before, but I've been flashing ROM's to my friend's Triumph since he got it last y ear (I have a GNex on Verizon myself). I believe the first was the original CM7 by Tickerguy.

I think the next one we tried was TG Reloaded by Whyzor, then your g60 variant and also the Starship Triumph one, until we've been using this one (MTDEV 7.2) for the last few builds.

I believe it started when we put the phone on TG Reloaded, or when we first went to CM 7.2 beta. Either way, ever since then, he's been reboots, usually daily.

He continues to get them on the latest/last version of this ROM. I always flash clean - I wipe data/cache/dalvik etc first. Any apps are restored with Titanium. We have gotten rid of as many apps as possible trying to get rid of the reboots, and while he generally gets less reboots, they still happen. Any apps he has on his phone, I also have on mine and there is nothing strange (facebook, tapatalk, handcent, etc) - I think he has less than 20 user apps now, I have something like 150 on my Gnex, lol.

The phone otherwise operates just fine. Sometimes it locks up before a reboot, and reminds me memory management issues like I used to have on my Samsung Fascinate, which just didn't have enough RAM to cope.

Let me know what other info we can give you to squash these reboots. I'd put him on CM10 or CM11 or AOKP (what I run), as soon as I could, if only the camera worked in them :(

It sounds like what could be happening is when he is restoring his apps and data with Titanium backup, he could be bringing over conflicting files with them. This has been known to happen and cause force closes and reboots. When restoring an app from Titanium backup, I ALWAYS make sure I select restore "App Only NO DATA". I have never had a problem with Titanium Backup (free version) doing it this way.

You could also try wiping his system/cache/dalvik, doing a clean install of the ROM, and then instead of using Titanium Backup just install each of the apps directly from the Play Store. That shouldn't take too long considering he only has about 20 or so.

Try this and see if the problems persist. If they do, then you know it's something deeper. You should not be experiencing reboots daily, at all really for that matter with G60's new CM7 ROM.

Good luck mayne!

Having a strange issue on this latest CM7 whereby Android is not detecting any of my external media on the SD card.

My MP3 podcasts do not show up in the default Music app (but they do in third-party apps) and the Gallery shows I have no pictures. None of the data is missing, it's still on the SD card and can be read just fine, but Android isn't "seeing" it correctly for some reason.

I have rebooted multiple times, tried a battery pull, wiped cache / Dalvik cache again in recovery, even installed an app to manually rescan media and so far nothing has worked...

Protonus,

How long has he been restoring apps with titanium? My suggestion would be to wipe/wipe dalvik and then redownload the ROM. Then install gapps and install one app at a time from the play store. I'm wondering if he is pulling in bad data with titanium. Give that a shot and let me know.

Try and reset permissions in CWM if that doest work backup your SD and then format it and restore your data. Had to format my SD not to long ago due to multiple flashing of ROMs and everything was perfect afterwards

Always has been. But then again, I do to, on every phone I work on including my own. And I flash ROM's daily for people, sometimes a few times a day on my phone lol. And I've never had a problem like this, even with restoring green/yellow system items in Ti across different versions of Android...

And on my phone, that equates to restoring like 275 total elements with data, in Ti without a problem haha. It goes off without a hitch.

I can rebuild his Triumph manually next time we flash it I guess but, given how often I do this without problem on so many different phones, and how long he's had these issues with these CM7 rom's across dozens of flashes I don't know if I buy into it being Ti. Also, there have been many people on each of the aforementioned ROM's for the Triumph reporting the random reboots too, it isn't just his phone.

I've been suspecting it's a kernel issue for a while.

Did the logcat not show anything useful?
