Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM7 build 2013-03-03

Hey its been a while since I updated, my MT is on the 10/15/12 build and was wondering if the status bar brightness bug was fixed, as far as I can tell it a battery saver on my lg OV, im gonna try to flash, hope to enjoy the devs hard work...

Our touch screen makes the status bar brightness feature difficult to use. Personally I leave it on automatic. It works very well for me. And it's customizable if you don't like the settings as they are pre set.

Does anybody have trouble recieveing MMS? Whenever a friend sends me a MMS or a Pic message I don't receive it till about 12 hrs after they sent it to me. This problem started right around the time I downloaded this rom. Was just wondering if its something in the rom or something else?

I haven't noticed any issues with MMS.

My wife and I are running this as our daily. We get them from each other in seconds most of the time.

Ive talked to virgin mobile and they suggest that I reprogram my phone. Can I reprogram my phone on a custom ROM?

They suggested that I do this:
. From the home screen, tap the Phone icon.
2. Dial ##847446 then dial #. The final # will not appear on the screen.
3. Tap Edit.
4. You will see the MDN field, please enter: 111 111 1111 and tap OK.
5. Now you will see the MSID field, please enter: 111 111 1111 and tap
OK.
6. Tap Done.
7. The phone will turn off and then turn back on by itself.
8. Please execute steps 1-4 again. On the MDN field, please enter your
cell phone number (phone #) and on the MSID field please enter your
network ID (phone #) and hit OK.

The problem is when I dial ##847446, nothing happends. If anybodys got any good suggestions just let me know.

Yeah, you have to be on a stock ROM. If you click on my signature "Look Ma" it will take you to the MTDEV site. Just look for the UNROOT folder and use Stock ROM. The Stock ROM doesn't change the recovery so you can get back to where you made your nandroid backup.

Is there a way to get to ur songs and song menu without unlocking and entering a pin while playinf music? I wish there was a way to disable ur lock screen and security pin so I could get to my music faster and easier.

There may be another lockscreen app that allows that, but the way it's set up you could use the volume keys to skip songs.

And if you forgo the pin lock you could have the music work on the lock screen.

Go to Settings-> Location & Security-> Setup Screen lock, and disable your Lockscreen security.

Then back out and go to Settings-> Cyanogen mod settings-> Lockscreen and pick a style. Then select the Lockscreen widget options and select to show music controls on Lockscreen. You can also select your music player as a custom app choice on your unlock slider tab/ring/whatever you selected for a style.

I have removed the support for other languages and other resolution screens. Other than that it should be the same as the last build from me.I'm going to test this on my old MT, but I don't have service on it any more, so I can't test the cell side of things. If this works, and I think it willl, we could use this idea to shrink the size of other built from source ROMs.

I'm going to also see if I can use this idea on the gapps. Those aren't built from source so it would be harder.

it helps if i post a link

let me know if there are any issues with the link.

Just installed the MTDEV-CM7-20130303.zip version of this ROM and it is working great. What an improvement over the stock ROM!

I'm trying to customize startup/shutdown sounds. I found the .ogg file containing the boot sound and changed it to my own, but I'm wondering what the easiest way to add a shutdown sound might be? I tried simply putting a shutdown.ogg file in /system/media/audio/ui/ but that didn't do it. Suggestions?

try looking in hidden

try looking in hidden

/hidden/data/shutdown contains the sequence of 12 .png files that are the original Virgin Mobile shutdown animation (now unused) but no shutdown sound files that I can find.

Since the ROM currently doesn't appear to have a shutdown sound I'm guessing I either have to add a file with a particular name somewhere in one of the file systems or maybe even add a line to a shutdown script somewhere to cause a sound file to be played.

It would take a script like the boot script. I would soppose that it would be the same. If you look for the boot sound script that I based the boot sound off of, you might be able to mock up the idea. I don't think that it would be a part of the init scripts, though. I think that those are just part of the boot process. I could be wrong though.

If I'm currently running Tickerguy's version of CM7 is there much difference/benefit to installing this version? Am I better of just sticking with my current ROM if I want to be using CM7?

As g60 once said the diffrence is night and day lol mt dev cm7 is more smother and responsive and more updated code release of cm7 so my opinion is this is better rom

Actually, if you grab the tester that I posted a few days ago I would really appreciate it.

apologies, but just to clarify, the tester is simply a pared down version of MTDEV-CM7-20130303?

Call it a shrunk down version. Same apps and code. It's just the apps have, providers, and another part that's in the packages section of the code, have had the extra languages and not used images removed. So if you gave any of those apps to someone who had a lower resolution (mdpi or ldpi) screen it would have nothing to load.
