Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

I'm having the same issue about the browser but I think its cm9 it self.....since I have a cm10 on my tablet & has the same issue....... also, some of my apps force close.......

Yeah I thought it was my phone itself but it kept happening and I just decided to download chrome its much better :)

What other apps do you have installed? I don't think I have heard of that yet. I wonder if it's like the settings not sticking in CM7?

I have normal apps like Facebook YouTube opera browser chrome browser battery indicator instagram tapatalk 4shared blackmart alpha Gmail and that's I have 2 games which are doodle jump and subway surfers, my location is always on but I don't think that's it also I've tried the wifi tether once I don't know if that's it either...

Another thing, the Wi-Fi turns on by itself

To be clear, do you mean that the wifi radio is set to OFF and then it just switches to ON? I just want to make sure that you are aware that disconnecting from a wifi hotspot or access point does not actualy turn off the wifi radio. Verify that your wifi radio is actually set to OFF. If you are disconnected and wifi is still ON, depending on your settings, it might reconnect later. This could appear as if wifi was turned on, but it was never turned off.

If you have manually set wifi to OFF and this still happens, did you flash GAPPS when you first installed this ROM?

Restoring some google apps and data can also interfere with wifi functions.

I rebooted my phone and it stopped doing that

The wifi was always off but when I woke up my phone I noticed it was on it kept doing that for a while but I shut down the phone and turned it back on and now its normal lol

Oh yeah! rebooting can often fix problems including wifi ones. I assumed that you had rebooted at some point already.

Is there a mod that will change the lockscreen? I've looked all over xda and found nothing that would work on our phone.

Hey guys, have you experienced random reboots? For some reason my phone keeps randomly restarting. My battery life has also gone down a ton. Not sure if it's due to the random reboots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Did you wipe data when you flashed the rom? What other customizations have you done other than flashing the rom

Just wanted to say, "Good job Devs". I like it and it and for some strange reason is giving me much better battery life than the Sharp ROM. No real issues other than those features not working as noted by the Devs.

Last time i had random reboots it was from using a task or app killer. If you are running one, these are not helpful - particularly with this OS.

You are so right! Ever sence Eclair the OS has been getting better and better at proper app control. Also, Google tells the developers how to better manage their battery through their own apps. Things like "Hey stupid, check to see if the device has a data connection before trying to send data. That way your app won't hang and kill the battery." There are more things that can be done that were added along the way. ICS and above have even better controlls over the system and with it work better at controlling the apps run times.

I agree. Task killers and autokillers dramatically reduce battery life. Especially with apps that don't cause much battery drain by themselves but may be persistent in starting up when killed. An autokiller keeps killing it when it restarts eating way more battery than the app its killing LOL!

If one uses an autokiller because they are concerned about free ram, try minfree (app in market) or modify a script in the init.d folder that will set your minimum ram level. The Triumph doesn't play well at all with under 50mb free. Its memory garbage collection is not very effective. Mine would get down to below 20mb free ram when I had this phone if I didn't add a 99memory script.

I have a working backup of this rom from october.

I just wiped data/cache/delvik, installed zip of 11-13 build. Installed gapps for ICS immediately after without booting. I start up into system and don't get the play store.. I repeated this process a few times. I verified correct 11/13 file and correct gapps file.. Still no play store.

This seams pretty strange to me. I have no idea what could cause it.. But I have given up and I'm back on CM7 I guess.

I could do without the camera if CM9 runs more reliably than CM7.

I have flashed all the recent builds and not had a problem with accessing the play store.

Did you have Android Market in apps instead of Play? If so, it should update to play when it detects you have a rom that is 2.2 or higher.

You said that you repeated "this process." Do you mean that you flashed cm9 and gapps several times? After you started up the phone and went through the initial startup, did you reboot the phone and check for play again? Or did you just go immediately back into recovery and reflash the rom and gapps again? Some users have noticed that they needed to reboot the phone after starting it up initially to clear up some issues.

The 4.2 gesture keyboard made for ICS isn't working. The keyboard itself works but the gesture portion isn't. The gesture settings are even there. I tried the flash and apk methods And got the same results. I would use swype but its buggy And closes the browser and search whenever I try to search something.

I just downloaded this ROM, and love it. I had tried earlier alphas of CM9, but there where still just to many bugs. I am having one issue I have not seen addressed here, when I go to open up my "portable hotspot" the device just hangs up and never opens the hotspot. Perhaps I should just be more aptient for the forst opening, but I've waited minutes and it still is greyed out saying that it's turning on? Any thoughts? NEVER MIND, just booted removed battery, and tried again, and it responded like I'd hope it would!

I rebooted into recovery, wiped data/cache/dalvik and flashed zip again. I don't remember if I restarted using the rom.

It does sound like the error was on my side somewhere.. For now I have CM7 running almost perfect. A couple months down the road I will likely try CM9 again and hope for the best. Thanks for your help.
