Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

There is no stand-alone contacts app, and when I go into contacts via the phone, it has a bad habit of starting to dial someone when I press to attempt to pull up an edit menu.

OK, the order is
Open the app (contacts), find the contact and press it (or long press it to skip the next activity) and hit the menu button to bring up the sub-menu to see Edit Contact???

I'm using CM7 right now. I hope it's the same. On top of that I use GoContacts as my phone and contacts manager. It works most of the time.

I can't select a contact without it dialing, and long-press does nothing at all. I'm on CM9.
You can not edit the contact from the phone app. You can however select the little square to the left where it would show the picture for the contact and then touch the area where the pic and the name are, then it will take you to contacts. Contacts should also be the first icon to the left of the app drawer, on the home screen. Once there press the menu button and you should be able to find what you are looking for.

I'd removed that item (called People on my setup) from the dock, thinking I wasn't going to need it much :p. It's back in there now, my husband has his own ringtone assigned, and all seems well.

This ROM does seem to do quite well for battery life compared to CM7, and performance is fine, so I'm happy as long as DH doesn't try to use the front camera again. :D

Odd note: when I was setting that ringtone, here came the cat very urgently wanting to be cuddled. She does that when I'm setting ringtones or using the speaker cleaner app. For some reason, sound emitting from my phone seems to flip the "affection" switch in her furry little head. :)

That's cute.

I just flashed your newest build of your ROM, and I'm really worried, because I have no radio whatsoever. There is no signal of any sort, and when I go to about phone>status, settings force closes. I've used about 6 different ROMs on this phone, and have never had this issue before. Not sure what I did wrong, but any help would be appreciated. I'm going to try to system restore and re-flash now, but I'm not sure anything will change. Also, is it necessary for me to wipe dalvik as well?

EDIT: Tried wiping everything, including dalvik, and reflashed with gapps, but I'm having the same problem.

Edit 2: Flashed your CM7 ROM, and everything worked perfectly, but when I flashed CM9 again and had the same problem.

Thanks dsmryder et al. for this! This is my first time installing a new ROM on my MT and I am loving it.

One little comment: what about including a warning that 20130218 has the no service problem in the OP? For a noob like me it seemed like this was the build I should use, and I was pretty bummed when my shiny new OS didn't get service. I finally found the anser on page 30-something of the thread, and am now running the 20130415 tester build, but it woulda been even better if I had known and just installed that version from the start.

Thanks again, I am loving my "new phone"!

Did you use one of the recent tester builds? I had this issue with the 20130218 build, but everything is fine with the 20130415 tester. Good luck!

I might pull the 20130218 version and move the 4-15 to the latest build. I would have to update the OP to reflect that. One issue is that most people make a comment and don't say what version their on. I'm glad that you guys did. Thank You.

Sorry about the screams, everyone. My phone very suddenly threw "Encryption Unsuccessful" at me (see this post for a screenshot. I didn't post this, but it matches my screen). Wiping Dalvik doesn't happen. Even wiping and re-ROMing hasn't helped. About to try reverting to Gingerbread, using MT-DEV CM7.

Update: CM7 installed, and wiping Dalvik became an option again. We're now trying reinstall of CM9.

Update II: So far, CM9 is behaving, but it's only been about seven hours or so, most of it spent re-syncing music, books, and such. I'll keep you updated. :)

I honestly have no idea why that comes up. I know that it will and it takes moving from ROM to ROM to fix it.

Thank you MTDEV! I've been using CM7, and would like to update to CM9.
My problem is that when I install the ROM My phone won't continue past "Tap Android to Continue".
Actually, nothing works for me at that start up screen. The "emergency dial", and the "change language" button don't work either.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or know what I might be doing wrong? It seems this ROM is working for other users.
-Back up
-Wiped cache
-factory reset
-installed ROM
-installed GAPPS
Thank you for your help in advance!

Are you using the latest tester? Don't use the one listed in the OP. I haven't been able to mess with the FTP for a while. When I do I'll fix the OP and stop the confusion.

I didn't know about using the tester. Never done that before. Should I download the tester and use it first before I install the ROM?

Used the tester. "Unfortunately setup wizard has stopped"

That's weird. The last time I loaded the tester it worked. What gapps did you use? I would recommend the symlinked one that BSydz made. It will leave you with the most space when you are done in your /system partition.

I got the same message with the 4/15 when I tried flashing that one. After re-wiping and flashing again it worked just fine. That being said, Navigation never got past the splash-screen, and I had to pull the battery to get the screen to come back on (the phone would act like the screen was on until I hit the power button again, then it would flash on and show the turning off animation).

well I had made a post before about me getting free 3g. Well it had worked on both cm7 and cm9(what im now using) and just last week it finally stopped working and now everytime I turn the data on my bars go from 3 all the way to an x for no service and it keeps doing that bouncing up to 3 down to x and I also want to go on to say that everytime i tick data on and my screen powers off, i hit the power button but nothing shows up so I always have to do a battery pull and completely disable the data.

Any suggestions of what the problem could pertain too?

I also tried factory resetting on a plain slate and going back down to cm7 and the same problem persists.

I primarily wanted to just thank everyone for all their hard work, this ROM is amazing!!

I was also hoping that someone could take pity on a noob and tell me what the best version of the ROM is at this point. I am currently running MTDEV-CM9-20130415. It was listed as the newest tester and I didn't know if it had the latest kernel and everything. I also have found that Bsyd has released pa_triumph-1.6a-17APR2013-092218-2 which is said to have a working front camera.

1. Could someone tell me if MTDEV-CM9-20130415 has the latest kernel already built into it

2. Could someone please tell me what the newest, best ROM at this point is (is it the pa_triumph-1.6a-17APR2013-092218-2 from Bsyd?)

3. Is the ROM from Bsyd essentially the same at team MTDEV or is it a totally different ROM?

I don't know if your problem could be related at all to my text messaging problem. On Friday last week I stated to receive multiples of texts that were sent to me from my wife. I am still receiving texts from her that she sent to me on Fri, Sat, ect... while new messages both sent and received are a crap shoot if they go through or not. Very frustrating.

I didn't update to CM9 till Sat, so this ROM has nothing to do with it, and I called Virgin Mobile to see if anyone else was having a similar problem. They booted up my zip (16508) and told me a large update was just done to the system and completed on Sunday. She told me there were also a couple of towers that had suffered storm damage and were currently being fixed. I was advised my texting problem would be fixed within a few days. Maybe your data problems are a similar cause?
