Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

Wow, what a wonderful surprise. I installed Ver5 last night, flashed the GB theme, and have been running for about 24 hrs. It is so nice to have things just work like they should! Virtually no lag. It may be a anomoly but running a speed test from my house today I was amazed. Usually I get about 500k down, today with this rom I was pulling above 1mbs with only 115dbm signal. Suppose it could just be a fluke, but wow!

Everything is so snappy even after installing all my apps. Thank you for the GB theme too. I don't care if underlying its really Froyo, it just works and looks like it should. Reminds me of the feeling I had when I moved from the intercept to the optimus V. This is what the phone should be like. For now I'm sticking with the included stock launcher and finding it surprisingly, pleasant.

GPS is wonderful. The only issue I've had is Beautiful Widgets keeps giving me Geolocation Errors (I realize this is probably an problem with BW and nothing that can be fixed on the ROM side of things).

Anyway, thanks for all the effort you put into bringing this to us! :)

Actually it was previously stated that geolocation isn't working right. That's like the only bug

The BW geolocation error can be fixed by changing the settings in BW. Make sure you enable "use alternate geodecoder" in the BW settings.

Okay thank you for the clarification! :) Oh and can you flash mantera's 1% battery mod and power widget mod over this?
No problem. You can NOT use any of the Triumph stuff that has to do with any of the framework files, and the widgets, power options and the 1% battery MOD all have to do with the framework.

Ok, so I did the dirty install to see if the *86 voicemail would be fixed. Cleared data and wiped cache. Installed b_randon deodexed stock rom. Booted and let it completely boot up. Installed ver5 (without clearing data and wiping cache). *86 still goes to VM tech support line. Did I do this right to make the *86 work?

I am testing a prep ROM, built from b_randons stock deodexed, for the voicemail issue, that can also be flashed over an existing install. I just have to figure out the details. And hopefully figure out the difference to just fix it. Just to clarify *86 will never call your voicemail. The default voicemail number is set to *86, so when you get a voicemail, it shows *86 in the notification and dials *86. After the fix it should say your phone number in the notification and dial your phone number. I think you may need to let it boot and connect to the network so it can set the number. Possibly even send yourself a voicemail and make sure the notification has your number in the notification, before you flash the Sharp ROM. But I'm still testing.

How do you know that wifi is still connected if the screen is off? Are you using an app? Which app? It takes a minute for the wifi to sleep, if you only have the screen off for a minute then it may not sleep.

After leaving the phone with the screen off for period of time, the wifi will be instantly connected and ready to go when I turn the screen back on (the wifi icon never disappears).

I also have GrooveIP installed. When you switch from 3G to wifi or the reverse, it takes a minute for GrooveIP to re-login to google voice. But when I turn the screen back on, GrooveIP is already connected, and it does not require to be re-logged in. That means there was never a transition from 3g to wifi. It was always on wifi.

I'm a lurker and NEVER leave comments... until now. I have tried many, many ROM's on my VM Triumph and this is by far the best yet. No bugs, everything works and 100% better then stock. THANK YOU SO MUCH for finally developing a ROM that functions so well! I will admit that I uninstalled your launcher and installed GO Launcher (only because I'm use to GO). Keep up the grrreat work and thanks again!

Back to lurking :-)

I have same problem and stitched to the fixed location, also four square will shut down when try to check in. Every thing else seems to work fine though

Just did a clean install of v5. Seems nice, but a couple of my favorite apps FC, even after I rebooted.

So far, I've found that Gas Buddy and My Tracks both FC: Gas Buddy as soon as you click "Find Gas Near Me" and My Tracks as soon as you start it. GPS Status, Google Maps, and NavFree USA all seem fine so far, so it's not all location based apps that FC.

Also, SatelliteAR can't find my location even though I have both Network and GPS location turned on.

My primary interest in this ROM is the fast GPS (and I love how fast it is!), but if half of my location based apps don't work, it kind of defeats the purpose.

~48 hours running version 5 and still enjoying this ROM very much. There is some sort of issue with how the ROM interacts with apps which overlay data over Google Maps. Google Earth works beautifully. "Maps", "Navigation", and "Lattitude" seem to work just like they should. "Local" opens fine but quickly gives an error "Your current location is temporarily unavailable".

Other Apps such as: Gas Buddy, Marine Traffic, Marine Weather, Earthquake Alert!, etc. All FC everytime you try to open them. These all have one thing in common and that is that they overlay their info on top of google maps. The weather channel app is an exception to this, it opens and runs ok; however, when you try to look at maps it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. (I know the sometimes does and doesn't is every devs nightmare)

Still amazed at the ROM for everything else. I'm very confident in the team of devs and community members who continue to surprise us with new work arounds and tweaks. As someone who doesn't put much in and gets a lot out of your work Thank you!

For now I guess I'll just go between CM7 and this depending on what I want to do. Thanks again to all of you who have brought us so much in return for so little!

I am working on the app compatibility issue now. I have a test ROM that shows them all as not compatible with this device, and they won't even install, a test ROM that will install but FC when you open them and a test ROM that will install and open but FC when you try to do certain stuff. I am thinking I may be able to get it all worked out, wish me luck. :D

App compatibility has been taken care of just need to test a little bit more and I'll post a new version. I know, another version so soon, but if it fixes stuff, then I can't help but let you guys have it too. :D

This is like the only news I read, lol

Wait, does that mean that the GPS geolocation issue is fixed?

So will ver6 be a fresh install or will it install over ver5? This will be the 3rd or 4th time i've had to re-install my apps in as many days.

Okay, so if I flash the original stock ROM, and then flash version 5 over that... Does that mean that I can flash version 6 over what I already have, and not have to do any form of wiping?

I know, I'm a pain in the butt sometimes. :D The last 2 days I have woke up out of the blue at 4AM with ideas floating around. I need to mow the lawn, but I was making too much progress. After I got about half of all the apps listed as not working, to work, I stopped testing and focused on the system a bit.

This should flash over Ver5, but I can't promise anything, I've been working from fresh installs to make sure everything was working properly. I changed out drivers, modified the kernel and made this as close to Stock Sharp as it has ever been. After I figured out how to get the apps working I wanted to refine it and clean it up a bit.

I got it down to only these system files from the Triumph excluding my framework modifications and a few tweaks:
one wifi driver (Kernel related)
Touchpal keyboard
A few base Gapps (This ROM came with no Gapps what so ever, and these have been there from the start.)

I just tested the GB Theme V5 and it seems to work just fine. Just did a factory reset and it rebooted fine (both the ROM and after the GB theme).

Everything looks good! :D

Already have the OP edited.

Uploading now!

Before flashing a new ROM, first backup your "apps and data" (I use Titainium Backup but there are others), then backup your launcher (from the launcher settings menu) and third backup the whole thing (Nandroid Backup).

After flashing the new ROM:
- Restore your "apps and data" instead of re-loading each app. This method is faster and has the advantage of saving your game scores, web searches and call log, stuff like that.
- Restore your launcher settings restores the look of the phone like where you put icons and on which home screen etc.
- The Nandroid backup is a safety step just in case the phone wont boot after flashing the new ROM you can do a Nandroid restore thereby restoring the phone to the previous ROM and at least have a working phone.

Another good idea is to set your backup utility to do a regular backup (mine is set to daily) then copy that backup to a safe location off the phone.

These 3 steps take time up front but save time later.

if your coming from a different rom and you restore all apps and data, im guessing system files are in there as well

in which case it is highly highly suggested to not restore system data or you'll end up running into errors that you shouldnt have and that noone except someone else who loaded old system files would even know about
