Root [ROM] SSX 2.0 by ChevyNo1 Built from GB 2.3.4 Source

I gotta say AOSP is getting a little long in the tooth so I most likely won't flash until I see a customizable Blur ROM like Rubix or an Apex Variant. Great work is being put into these ROMs by the devs but I'll be on the sidelines this time.[/QUOTE]

I have to agree about the GB roms. Blur got pretty good with GB so why all the aosp only roms? The aosp apps like the dialer are very simple looking and don't have basic features like speed dial. And, you can freeze any of the blur you don't like anyway, so why take away the options? I'm on CM7 now and do like the extra customizations available, but it still doesn't run as smooth or have the battery life of stock GB. And, I haven't seen any outstanding themes for it either. Maybe Bo will hook us up with some BWC in the near future. :D

not many people like the moto blur that is on our phones, i prefer the aosp feel anyway. i keep finding myself switching back to either Apex 2.0.0 RC2 or the AOSP Liberty rom which is a combination of both :)

Just to make sure the rom zip automatically wipes so if i am on any CM& build all i need to do is flash the zip from recovery.......

Even thought the zip wipes system, cache, and data, I would wipe them manually and then apply the zip; it would make me feel better :D
Thanks! but my other question is whether or not i need to flash both zips or since im on cm7 do i only need the rom zip?

You only need the Rom and the patch to fix the input issue. I suggest you install the mms fix found in that thread too.

O'k, this is getting dizzying now. All these new roms coming out that I have to keep track of.....UGHHH!.....lol.

Just to clarify something. This is a Froyo based rom or it has been reworked to .596? I ask because of what he says on that link about " 2.3.340 is a prerequisite. If you are not currently running that version (ie. if you are running Liberty) you will NEED TO INSTALL SSX-prep.zip first."

no this is 100% Gingerbread

So it's kinda like running a DX2 where it has Froyoblur instead of gingerblur eh?
not at all...its completely GB

Nope. It's pure Gingerbread, but running off the froyo kernel, since that's the one that's vulnerable to the 2nd-init hack. Yes, you have to be on Froyo to start off, but that gets wiped away clean and an entirely new system is installed.

there is no such thing as a "Froyo Kernel." Kernels and OS versions are completely independent of each other.

My DX doesn't drain like that on true Gingerbread ROMS (kernel and build)
this is a "true" Gingerbread ROM...

id put money on the fact that if you two DX's side by side...one running AOSP GB...the other running GingerBlur...and asked the every person that walked in and out of a VZW store on a given day which they preferred...i bet more would choose the Blur...

Any battery tweaks

what do you mean by battery tweaks? like flashable zip files to improve battery life?...

if thats what you mean then no...probably going to have to wait for these things to get out of the beta phase before the devs start worrying about fixing battery life...

every time they change something or add a feature it could potentially use more battery...so it makes more sense to go back and work on things like that after they have a fully functioning ROM...

No fighting. Please just report. Infractions, warning and probations handed out today. Let's be done with it and keep the warm/fuzzy/friendly atmosphere here in the dx section. Thanks.

Your friend,
Steven

How could I tell

its a little tougher now that "Battery History" has been removed from Gingerbread...but apps like Watchdog, or Android System Info can monitor all your apps real time...and you can see if they are sucking CPU cycles while youre not using them...its a start
