Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

(edited). My Gmail push notifications weren't working. I did a restart, and it seems to be working now.
You might get a picture of you with a really big fish say 8-10 lbs and post as your avatar. Now that would be a really cool Avatar(picture).
How do you like the ROM so far.

Hmmm. So flashing the iho recovery helps with the performance of the kernel? I have been using xionia recovery which would make perfect sense why I'm running this rom flawlessly with the xioniaredux kernel.

Very Interesting! I got to remember this. The biggest reason is that the Xionia recovery doesn't seem to wipe thoroughly enough for the new IHO ROMS. Or so we thought. Might have to rethink that one. Guess I'm going to have to try the xioniaredux kernel. You know where it can be found(is this in the optimus s threads). I'll try it with the current recovery then the xionia.

Ya the only problem with the kernel I'm using now is usb tethering, otherwise its solid as a rock. I'll probably wait a few days to flash the new rom to see how the new kernel is working out. I wish I knew where to find a flashable form of the iho kernel so I wouldn't have to mess with backing up my data.

Just google xioniaredux and bingo ;)
And ya its for the s. Key swap ftw!

Who's eollie, and where can I find his script? Love this ROM, but am missing the ability to have my Windows 95 startup sound play every time I turn my phone on. I have the android_audio.mp3 in the proper spot, but it's not working in today's bake.

This inst exactly the script but this is what i have been using to enable the boot up sound before it was ever included in this ROM. It is not mine so I do not take credit for it. but like i said it worked for me.

Thanks. I don't know if this will help but read this http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-all-things-root/390193-optimus-v-root-questions.html#post3048675
JerryScript describes a wireless adb app(It really works to) that will allow you to run commands from your computer to your phone without the USB cable. I don't know if it will work for the Mass storage ,but I guess I'm going to have to try it myself.EDIT: I changed my recovery from my PC with out hooking up a USB cable to the phone. But I haven't figured out how to do mass storage or even if it will. As JerryScript said: if your having trouble with installing the drivers this is the way to go.

Is anyone having a problem rebooting when you clik the camera button?? 9 times out of 10 if I clik the camera button it immediately reboots. It has done that with the last two builds for me. Didn't see if anyone posted about this yet.

Are you overclocked? I know in aosp there was a problem where if the processor was overclocked too high and you tried opening the camera your phone would reboot. If thats the case bring down the frequency and give it another go.

I'm OC'd the usual 768 w/ONEDEMAND Governor. I went down to 748 and it cleared up (so far). Thanks!!

SORRY for assuming. It's just that your symptoms are the same as using the xionia recovery with this ROM. Did you wipe everything mentioned? Did you install the theme with the ROM? If you installed the theme with the ROM then try installing the ROM only. Wait till you get it just how you like it with apps and what not(just don't overclock it yet). Reboot a couple of times then install the theme. Should cure what ails it.

Sorry if I sounded blunt, lol. I was in a rush and typing in a hurry always makes me sound really rude. My apologies. :)

I did a full wipe prior to installing the ROM, and I installed it with the theme, hated the theme, wiped it, and installed it without the theme. I had this issue with the 07302011 build too, which is why I was in the thread to begin with (to download the 0808 build), but I'm still having the issue with 0808.

Oh, and I haven't done anything with overclocking on BACKside yet...so I'm not sure it's an overclocking issue (unless BACKside overclocks itself by default?).

By default it's set to 600MHz-245MHz so I guess this is just something For JerryScript to analyze. Sorry I wasn't any help. TO JerryScript: just thought I'd mention that the headset works in call mode now!! The button on the mic doesn't function though. I'm running Build# 08102011 now. I still have the lean ROM backed up.

@nyssa: The 0808 builds had some experimental code, but you are the only one reporting these issues. The latest 0810 build has been reported so far to be the stablest yet.

Here are the proper steps for a full wipe and restore:

1) With phone still booted up, use Titanium Backup or MyBackup to backup your apps

2) In recovery, first create a nandroid backup

3) Still in recovery, go under mounts and format the following: data, boot, system, cache

4) Still in recovery, flash the ROM zip file, then the gapps zip file, then reboot

5) Once your phone boots up, and you get through the Google sign-in, go to the market and download Titanium Backup

6) Once Titanium Backup is running, restore your apps, NOT SYSTEM APPS, AND DO NOT RESTORE DATA YET.

7) Reboot

8) Using Titanium Backup, restore apps that had data you need, BUT STILL DO NOT RESTORE SYSTEM APPS OR SYSTEM DATA!

The two main causes of issues after flashing a ROM are improper wipes (always format when coming from a different ROM), and improper restoration of apps (never restore system apps or system data). The next most common cause of issues is bad downloads, so check the md5sum. ;)

@yogi: I wish all phones had the exact same capabilites, would make things easier for bug tracking!

@AndyOpie: As always, thanks for testing the builds, and thanks for helping everyone out! :)

OK silly question, well maybe not so silly. How would someone go about checking the md5sum. I read that downloading from your phone has a higher chance of allowing corruption because of the slower download speed.

I'll try again and see how it goes...thanks for the reply, and I hope I can keep using this ROM because I really do like it. :)

Also, I'm going to PM you about something else, if that's alright (not support type questions).

So I installed this once awhile ago, wasn't working for me. I went with a few other ROMs and was on Bumblebee for a while. I installed the updated version of this one, and I was wondering, the reboot to recovery option isn't in the power drop down. Is it supposed to be that way, or is there something wrong with my install?

Open Terminal emulator, then cd into the directory you have the file to check in (ie cd /sdcard), then type md5sum NAME_OF_FILE, takes about 15 seconds to process.

The reboot option in the power dropdown opens a sub menu with three options: reboot (normal), recovery (obvious), and bootloader (fastboot).

I don't know if it's the ROM or V6 supercharger(I ran option #2)But Wow! I forgot to increase the CPU speed to where I like it(787MHz) and didn't even notice. Angry Birds is way smoother at 600MHz than it should be. I noticed just the faintest amount of lag when the game moved back to the slingshot. Stock, Harmonia ,and Bumblebee at 600MHz couldn't even compare.I'll just keep it there and see how the temp.and time off charge ends up after a day.
EDIT: I forgot that I went back to the Experimental Green Machine Lean. Well I'll still check it for a comparison. Then tomorrow I will restore Build #08102011 and check it out and bechmark at 600MHz and at 787MHz and see which one performs better.(I kinda like the boot audio of the Experimental).

I can't seem to find the livewallpaper chooser in the newest version of this ROM. when i try install the apk i find on google it fails. Any suggestions?

Its the ROM. That functionality is gone for me too since the 08/10 update. Also, I'm having issues with USB mass storage now.

Thanks for the reply~ So far I'm not having any issues with the USB mass storage. Hope you get those settled.

Anyone have a fix for these issues, both usb mass storage and live wallpapers on the 8/10 rom?

thanks~

Go to menu/settings/applications/development/check USB debugging on/off/on in rapid succession. Then plug your phone into your computer. You should see the Icon to the left in the notificaction bar. Open the pulldown and select USB connect. If it still doesn't work,You might think about installing a fresh set of USB drivers for the phone onto your PC.

Go to menu/ wallpaper, and describe everything you see. If you see something that says configure, press it.
I've got mutipicture Live Wallpaper, with Picasa as well. It works fine on this ROM
