Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Seems to be working so far. My wifi hasn't disconnected after being idle for a while.

The camera still needs work (like you said). The default exposure should be what's +1 now. That would fix the dark camera problem. Also, +1 and +2 are reversed. +2 should be brighter. It's very close to being perfect. The dark camera is the #1 thing that's bothered me since flashing aospCMod a few months ago. Your ROM and BobZhome's ROM are the first that have at least attempted to fix it.

What is "added video icon to app drawer"? I'm using Launcher Pro. Are you talking about the green "Videos" icon? Not sure what you're talking about.

Blarf is looking into the camera exposure values, he knows more about the camera than the original coders!

Yes, the green box icon is the standard gingerbread icon for videos. Takes you to a list of just videos instead of through the gallery where all your pics are.

I installed the Experimental Green Machine Lean ROM
I like the theme better than the last, the pull down was a little to busy with two green machine texts and a cyanogen mod text right over the widgets.
Now just one Green Machine on the pull down bar at the bottom.
I think it might work to put (CM7)IHO or Gingerbread, or Cyanogen Mod 7.1_IHO in the Carrier name area, but nothing over the widgets.
Because its lean it seems to boot up a lot faster.(or it could be because I'm running V6 Supercharger)
WiFi and 3G connectivity seems a bit faster from screen off(Still just a tad sluggish, but not bad)
Got the CPU speed up to 825HZ before freeze up on the benchmark testing.(1235 Quadrant Standard score). 787hz scored a 1206.
I don't lose the Temp monitor Icon in task bar at boot anymore.
Headset still only works when playing music, won't work on phone calls.
Took a few tries, but the Bluetooth is connected. In call quality is good.
Text messaging works fine. Receiving pictures didn't work(it looked like it did but when I clicked on the download Icon, nothing happened)
I will let you know the time off charge and the battery temp:screen on for an hour, and screen on for 15min in car middle of the day(Temp controls vacuum block is not functioning properly, so no Air conditioning)

Thanks for the feedback, please let me know if you have continued problems receiving (downloading) picture mms. That should be working fine, I tested it with a friend this morning before releasing this build.

Gotta find the time to work on the mic issues, especially with headsets. The audio routing is a maze filled with spider webs. ;)

So much thanks to be given to you!!! I love this ROM...I was bummed when I saw the Green Machine ROM with only the Green Machine theme (No offense of course, I just like stock hah), then I saw the new lean ROM. AWESOME!!! Yummy lowcal Gingerbread haha.

Thanks again for the great work.

I'll double check on the Picture mms. Remember......(I'm not just a member,I'm a "Nuub")
It could very well be I'm not doing something right. I'll try it with with the WiFi off and just the 3G turned on(that was probably the problem).
I'll have to wait for someone who knows how to send a picture mms to get off work.
This is the best ROM so far. Having the theme already incorporated into it seem to be helping with the speed.
If there was a way to get the gapps incorporated into it that would really be something(nobody else has managed that one on a CM7 ROM)

Just flashed the updated Backside ROM. Whatever you did seems to have fixed my WIFI issues. Great job! Initially I flashed the Green Machine Lean ROM because i really prefer stock android and hate extra bloatware, but I just can't stand the Green Machine theme. I'm sure there's a way to disable it but i don't have the patience to figure out. And seriously, WTH is with the start up sound? It was loud, annoying, and dragged on forever. It's the only blemish to this ROM. I'm absolutely going to remove it. Other than that, keep up the great work, gracias!

[edit]I'm trying to remove android_audio.mp3 using File Manager, but it wont let me do anything to it. I click delete, it says "Could not delete". I click rename, it says "Could not rename". I click move, it says "Could not move" etc.. Is there another program I'm supposed to use to get rid of it?

Try using the file explorer on super manager...worked for me to change it:)

Download ES File explorer from the market, and in it's settings scroll down to Root Settings and check both Root Explorer and Mount File System. Once that's done, you can change any file you want. ;)

Hey JerryScript, Would the picture mms coming from an IPhone with a 960x640 resolution be the problem. I tried it with just the 3g and still no go.

Andy, for some reason VM has issues receiving mms from iphones. This been discussed on numerous threads, both here and on other forums. It has nothing to do with the rom, it does the same thing on stock. However, I have a friend on at&t with a windows7 phone and have no problems sending and receiving mms from her.

So I still love this rom. Not the biggest fan of the kernel as someone else has said here too. Actually flashed the XioniaRedux kernel which is more then I could ask for with performance/battery life minus usb debugging which is being worked on. plus I'm playing with data2ext4 which is functioning properly. Aosps kernel works too but XioniaRedux just seemed better in performance. I would love to see your kernel posted in flashable form since I'm a big kernel junkie. Hats off for this yummy rom.

P.S. Also playing with stagefright but have no clue if its doing much.

So I broke my old phone...long story...& got a new one but this one acts differently. Now I used gingerbreak to root the old phone and when turned on just went to the "android" logo then loaded to the home page. This one I used superoneclick to root and it starts with the silver then red "lg" logos. My Buddy tells me this means it's not fully rooted. More importantly my last phone was always overclocked to 864 mhz with no problem, completely stable. This phone reboots at 787 mhz. It pisses me off that I use the same roms and supposedly the same hardware with such different results. I no longer find this phone as functional nor enjoyable. As many of you are more experienced, what are your thoughts? Will this phone ever perform nearly as well as my last optimus v?

New build of BACKside-IHO is ready. Several changes to try out:
-Sound always playing through the speaker regardless of settings has been fixed
-BobZ's wifi fix included and another small tweak (if this build fixes issues, wifi bug should be fixable)
-Updated to Blarf's newest kernel r1.2, tweaks for battery and performance
-Camera exposure mostly fixed, default value may still be too dark
-Removed bootsound for now due to overwhelming requests ;) , but you can enable it using eollie's script.

BACKside-IHO-08102011.zip

@ECTOTHERM: Each phone overclocks to a different stable level, it's due to the inherent flaws that occur in the chip's manufacturing process. To test if you are rooted, download Terminal emulator from the Market, and open it and type in:

su

If you get a # sign, you are rooted, if it remains a $sign, you are not rooted.

Who's eollie, and where can I find his script? Love this ROM, but am missing the ability to have my Windows 95 startup sound play every time I turn my phone on. I have the android_audio.mp3 in the proper spot, but it's not working in today's bake.

So I really want to continue using this ROM, mainly because I'm a sucker for that awesome screen on/off anim and the ease of screenshots...plus, who doesn't love Gingerbread?!

But I've found that this ROM is very, very unstable on my phone. I've been getting lots of force closes, especially with ADW.Launcher (which I never had issues with when running Bumblebee!), and now it's started randomly rebooting. A fresh install did nothing to alleviate the problem - I reflashed yesterday night and I'm still getting all of the same issues.

Can anybody help me fix the issues I'm having? Like I said, I want to continue using this ROM, but if I can't fix these things I'm going to have to go back to Bumblebee....

You have xionia recovery installed, don't you. It doesn't work to well with the IHO ROM's try installing ClockWorkMod v3.2.0.1(not3.2.0) .Then make sure you wipe cache partition,Dalvik cache, wipe data/factory reset. Then format boot, system, data, cache. Once this is done you only have to wipe cache and dalvik cache to install a update.

I found a weird bug with the Android Market. I think this started a few releases ago.

Whenever I download a new app from the Market, it'll say "updating (app name)" in the notification screen instead of "installing (app name)". This happens on apps that I've never downloaded before, so it should not say "updating". Once it's done it'll say "sucessfully updated".

The animated green download arrow in the status bar and the "updating" item in the notification screen do not go away until I hit the clear button on the notification screen.

Here are a few screenshots:

I don't have Xionia. I use CWM.

I have a few friends with iPhones. Whenever they try to send me an iPhone screenshot over MMS, it'll show up as a blank message in the Messaging app. I found a way around this. If you use Handcent SMS, do a long press on the blank message, and download the attachment. The picture they sent over MMS will be in the Gallery app.

SORRY for assuming. It's just that your symptoms are the same as using the xionia recovery with this ROM. Did you wipe everything mentioned? Did you install the theme with the ROM? If you installed the theme with the ROM then try installing the ROM only. Wait till you get it just how you like it with apps and what not(just don't overclock it yet). Reboot a couple of times then install the theme. Should cure what ails it.
