Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

"Sorry, test failed. This feature cannot run on your phone." I get this when I try using Es File explorer. Thanks in advance!

That's strange, never heard anyone having trouble with ES!??

If you know how to connect via adb, just type in:

adb remount system
adb shell

Then you can cd into the system/media folder:

cd /system/media

And then you can delete the file:

rm bootanimation.zip

And if you have a bootanimation you want to replace it with on your sdcard:

cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media/

ok i flash bobzhome's rom and it's stuck on the boot animation

nevermind i must have skipped something because it works now

Ok I just wanted to make sure. I don't want to change from backside and it is slightly confusing when someone is posting there rom in a topic dedicated to the backside rom.

Yeah, I should have named the thread better, including the IHO reference. I didn't because these forums seem more geared towards users than developers (or developer wannabes like me ;) ). IHO is an open source project, and everyone is welcome to build ROMs from it. I appreciate those who do posting their builds, the more involved, the more likely we have a better product in the end. :)

Yeah that's what I like about these forums is them being user friendly and helpful unlike others can be. I just wasn't sure if its safe to go back and forth between roms.

i just flashed this rom and am very excited to try it out. i just wanted to thank jerryscript and all involved in this process. i am new to this forum and new to my ov and i cant thank you all enough.

first impression, this rom rocks and is going to be my rom of my choice. however, it looks like text to speech isnt integrated with the keyboard. i checked in settings and it is greyed out. i noticed that with cyanogen's rom too. am i missing something?

also, are themes supported through this. i dont mean adw themes, but the theme chooser option. i didnt see that.

and lastly, i am just really curious to know. after i flashed everything, i didnt lose my contacts. i followed the instructions to a tee. why is that? dont get me wrong, it is a good thing. but i was surprised by that.

oops, i mean with ath3nos rom too. forgive me if this stuff was covered. i am pretty new here and have been trolling these forums like mad the last few days.

oops again! i found theme chooser. i was looking in the wrong place. its been a long night. i also came across an old post on this thread where somebody else brought up the text to speech question. i checked the market but am not seeing a google option. i do have google voice. is there something else i should be looking for?

also, has anyone else noticed that wallpaper from the market appears to be zoomed in when you apply it? i have the market download antique cm walls and all appear to be zoomed in too much after i apply it.

Text to speech is an option in the menu/settings/CyanogenMod settings/I can't remember now but look in all the settings until you find Talkback. It will speak out every thing that you do and all text that you select. Plus it has a couple of features that you will have to try, in order to understand all that they can do.

thanks for the fast reply. i checked all cyanogen settings and couldnt find it. i have been searching all over with no luck. any more ideas???

It does come preloaded on the IHO builds. Go to Accessibility in the menu and it will prompt you to download the screen reader you will need for text to speech.

sorry guys, i feel like an idiot but im still not getting it. i did go through accessibility and download talkbalk and it works. but that just seems to be for speaking my movements out loud. maybe i wasnt clear or i am just not seeing it in the settings of talkback, but i am looking for the option on my keyboard so i dont have to type my text messages. i loved being able to speak my texts. it made things so easy.

i don't think i'll ever go back to stock... at least until i eventually upgrade my phone and revert it to stock so i can sell it

Menu> settings> voice input and output> text to speech setting. You may need to go into the market and get google espeak then go into those settings and enable it.

Look at Voice Actions in the market. Its a free app and less than 2mb. It will do the speech to text, read your text and email, and much more.

I tried the steps I told you enable it but I still could not get it to work. However I did try installing flext9 which has dragon speak built in and uses that for text to speak and works with no problem.

This ROM has been awesome. I've been using it for about a week. This question is more for the IHO dev I guess: any idea on when we will get USB mass storage? I've found workarounds but I would love to have that feature back.

The keyboard mic is activated under the keyboard settings

settings>>language and keyboard>>android keyboard>>voice input

Note- I prefer FlexT9 too ;)
