Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

i'm definitely staying with this rom. this is the all around best rom ive tried and i love the fact that jerry is around and available answering questions and making updates.

For those that were interested in a blue theme I found a very nice one. Here's a link to the thread there are also other colors. [CM7 Theme] Rover's Mix V.1.9 + Rover Wallpaper + Lockscreen & Animations [08 May 11] - xda-developers
this is for the theme app make sure you do not have green machine installed because it is not compatible, you download the apk then install as normal app, open theme app. and select the theme you installed, you will get an error saying it does not work for your screen select continue anyway and it will set it. Works perfect on this device I've tested as well as others.

I've removed the link on the OP and the wiki to the 0817 build due to gps issues. Will post a new build soon, till then use the 0810 or one of the other IHO builds if you need GPS and already flashed the 0817 build. Sorry for the inconvenience.

i had a strange thing occur to me today on the 0810 build. i have installed yahoo email thru the market and it was working fine. but today, i went to click on the text message icon and it took me to the yahoo email application. i tried it a few times with no change. i went into manage applications and yahoo email and force stopped the service. since then, everything appears to be ok.

Hey JerryScript, Installed Build #08172011 and my GPS works super. Is the problem with GPS isolated to those that flash the theme with the ROM,or is it happening to those coming from another ROM. I also didn't flash the Gapps. I flashed the ROM, rebooted twice, then flashed the theme. Every thing is working fine for me. I also make sure that before flashing anything on a new build my CPU speed is set to 600MHz-245MHz. When everything looks good I move up to 768-480. I'm getting great battery off charge time and battery temp is low.

EDIT: The headset jack plays music fine, but can not transmit my voice during calls. I Can here person on other end just fine, but they can't here me. Again, sorry!

Try turning GPS off then back on, and let me know if it still works. Thanks!

I updated from the 8/10 ROM to the 8/17 rom. The GPS section in the settings menu disappeared, and the GPS toggle button on the notification window stopped working. I cleared the cache and the dalvik cache before updating.

Jerry, as much as I want to contribute to this project, I'm an idiot when it comes to programming. So I hate to ask such an ignorant question but here goes : at one point USB mass storage worked. I think back on the 7-21 build. What caused it to stop working and does Blarfie have an ETA or favorable news about it? This latest build is a good example of a randomly lost feature. It kind of made me think about the number one feature I've been missing from the stock rom: Mass Storage.

Edit: a better question is does blarfie have a blog or anything about his work? The iho page didn't seem to have the info I was hunting.

Works fine for me. ? what was your stock OS did you have 2.2.1 or 2.2.2

What OS do you have? 2.2.1,or 2.2.2

EDIT: 11hours 53min. and still above 90% battery with lite usage.

GPS is not working in any IHO build after 8/16 due to our attempts at getting better battery performance. For now, stick with the 8/10 BACKside, or one of the other builds so long as it's not newer than 08/15.

AndyOpie, I think you are a bit confused. GPS is a circular symbol with only the color grey. I believe you are referring to the wifi and/or 3G indicators, which turn green whenever you connect to Google services. Unless you are using a theme that changes the GPS colors?

Okay I've run into a tiny problem. I've done a fresh re-flash of this rom (meaning I formatted everything including /data, /boot, etc) and I seem to be missing the included CyanogenMod wallpapers which were previously there. Was it removed in the newer versions? I liked those wallpapers.. =[

i believe jerry mistakenly left them off that build. there is a separate zip file to flash that includes the live wallpapers. i just flashed it over my existing build.

does anybody know if adobe flash 10.2 works with our phone? i have flash 10.1 working, but no luck yet with 10.2.

I'm not sure about Groove IP, but when using wifi and the built-in VoiP using my sipgate account with google voice, it's very clear. I would say try to get it to work on wifi first to isolate the problem. VM's 3G data isn't as stable for VoiP calls right now.

1. Where is the built in VoiP?

2. Are these free phone calls?

Thanks!

New build is up, reverted the GPS changes to IHO and it's working fine again. Blarf has a special project he's working on at the moment, he'll have the repo fixed soon, till then it's easy enough to revert the 2 commits and build again. ;)

Maybe you could start a thread and explain what you have found that works with the 10.1 flash player and your progress on the 10.2.
I only ask because I myself have not been able to get anything to work using the 10.1,but would like to be able to get away from having to use the skyfire browser all the time and just use a browser of my choice.

I don't really remember what my stock rom was. I'm guessing 2.2.2 but I have no clue. I got it from BestBuy and my first alteration was to take it from the stock rom to Jerry's rom. I have loved it but I use USB mass storage at least once a day every day and now I don't have it.

It worked on the stock rom if that's what you're asking.

I was just curious why all the builds prior to 7/21 didn't mention anything about mass storage drivers not working, then all the sudden they drop out. It's strange how when changing various parts of the build, something can just drop out for seemingly no reason. I really wanna learn how to do this stuff. It is so intriguing to me!!!!

To piggy-back on what AndyOpie said...
I've read all over the web that 10.1 does not work on the processor technology that our phones run on. That being said, some have overridden it and FORCED it to work, but it only works on a small amount of websites. So if you have 10.1 working 100% correctly to the point you're ready to move on to 10.2, understand you have done something revolutional.

The question was sort of a trouble shooting type of question(although a bit out there). I was Froyo 2.2.1 and have never had a major problem with USB mass storage on any of the BACKside builds. Plus my WiFi works fine on build #08172011. Was just doing a little fishing for JerryScript.
