Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

I found a reproducible bug in 0131. When you go into the notifications window and swipe across to clear out individual notifications, and if by some reason you don't manage to swipe across all the way, the notifications window locks up. Only way to fix it is to reboot. Can anyone else verify this with 0131 or any other build?

Thanks!

Yes, that was fixed in the 0206 build, time to catch up! ;)

You don't have to swipe all the way, but there is a point between swiping too far and not far enough were it can get frozen.

BTW- as with most freeze issues on the status bar and notification dropdown, you can use Notification Restart from the Market to restart it without rebooting!

Jerry, I'm sure you've addressed this before, but why don't you included Swype in the builds. This would save us 10 megs of space

I'm a bit confused. How would including the most bloated keyboard available save space? It would still have to be on internal storage, since it's not signed as a platform app, so it doesn't fit properly in the system partition. Sure you can push it to system, but that's a hack, not a part of a normal build process due to the lack of platform signing (it would break signature verification).

Also, Swype is not open source, so I cannot include it without permission. And though I haven't asked, I doubt if they give out permission to include it in custom ROMs.

Besides, I use FlexT9. ;)

Nice I'm going to look for that

I started having FC's after integrating dalvik into ROM later. I removed it and the FC's continued so I did a full wipe and reflashed 0212. Now I've had my first lock up with the screen rotation thing and had to remove the battery. I disabled animations now but first time I've had to.

Ahh. You learn something new every day. I basically know nothing about all this stuff :) I just figured you could put it in the system. I figured since it was included in the froyo roms it wouldn't be an issue. Maybe I didn't remember correctly and it wasn't included in the froyo custom roms. either way, I love backside and appreciate your hard work. I'll check out the keyboard you use. I used to love t9

I haven't had any issues with animations, that "should" be fixed in the 0212 build. Please let me know what you suspect may be the cause.

I'm not really sure. I wasn't even using the phone at the time. I had it in my shirt pocket in an upright position like I usually do. When I took it out it, it was frozen in the landscape mode.

I have enabled animations again and have tried to reproduce it but it seems to be ok now.

It appears from the feedback in several forums, that the screen freeze issue is affecting those with ADW Launcher Settings>>System>>Home Orientation = auto

If anyone is experiencing freezes with it set to portrait or landscape, please let us know.

Link2sd stopped working on me for new stuff so I've filled up my memory until I flash the update tonight.
I had a hell of a time updating my phone....
I decided to do a clean install on this one, spent wayyyy to much time messing with it.
My Link2sd kept freezing on certain certain apps. I tried going back to an earlier version of BS and I was having the same problem. It then all of the sudden hit me, clean install, don't forget the gapps. Once I installed the gapps file after the BS, Link2sd worked perfectly.... Just a thought for you.http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps

Hi guys

First, thanks Jerry for your efforts. This was my first ROM install and it went smoothly and was pretty easy. I'm using the 2/06 build and it seems OK so far apart from two things I noticed.

1. Looking at the 1st post in the pics, in the 1st pic. The Google search widget was missing and had something like "Problem loading widget" posted. That wasn't a big deal as I deleted that and installed that widget.

2. Again on the 1st post, 1st pic. On the top strip, I believe its the status bar, it has a clock in the center. Mine doesn't have any clock. Would be nice to get that installed so I can see what time it is from within apps. Any suggestions?

Also, how many posts till I can post pics? Thanks in advance!

Hi edplayer, welcome to the forums.

For your clock, go to Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Interface > Status bar tweaks > scroll down to 'status bar clock', either 'show clock' is unchecked or the color is probably set to black. Pick a new color and then be sure to touch the middle of the circle to select it.

I can't remember for sure about posting pics. Sorry, try finding the site rules and see if it says. Seems like 25 but I could be wrong.

Updated to the latest build yesterday and this morning I again ran into the screen freeze issue. I went through the following steps and can reproduce the issue at will with the following steps:

1) Hold the phone vertically and let the alarm go off.
2) Turn the phone horizontally and press dismiss
3) Quickly turn the phone vertically again

At this point, the screen should be frozen and the phone has to be restarted to get it to respond. Is anyone else running into this issue?

Edit: I have not tried changing the "Home Orientation" setting. I'll give that a shot.

So I understand that you can upgrade the ROM builds via the updater on the phone. Are there any special steps that need to be taken in order to do this? Any gotchas to be aware of? Is this something that is documented somewhere? Maybe it should be added to the stickied guide to flashing/all things root.

Thanks!
