Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

GUI still gets stuck at times, but not as often as previous build, there are a few performance issues in this build, freezes and force closes occur more often than last 3 or 4 builds, virtual keyboard doesn't stretch in landscape mode sometimes(only happens with non-native keyboard app i believe.if this happens, re-enable selected keyboard, or uninstall and reinstall keyboard. ) had a few random reboots(haven't seen that in a few months), average battery drain has been noticeably increased(for me at least, even though I have decreased my phone usage). And I believe that's about all I have to report for this build.

Running into similar issues minus the keyboard and reboot issues but over all great.

I got the latest ROM installed. One thing that is bugging me is that I have the hotmail application and for some reason I loose my account information every two days or so. I noticed that it started to happen with the versions that have been released this month. Everything else works fine for me. One thing is that I do not loose the google account information.

Sounds Like a problem with the app not the ROM. Try posting your Question in the Optimus V forum.

I have a very bad experience with fixing permission in recovery. I doesn't provide any feedback for the progress and if for some reason the script crashes you just sit and wait till force reboot and your phone is f***d. This happen to me once and I had to restore from backup. Never had problems with fix_permissions script in normal android os.

LOL, I swear TB used to have a fix permissions option.

The teminal option is easiest, I only posted other options beause I know some don't like terminal commands. ;)

Sssh! That's a bad word around here.

Yes, it does have it as an option, and it does work, and you can see what is going on in the proccess.

That took 6 minutes but everything is running more snappy now. I was ready to throw it out the window for a minute there, it kept locking up in apps. Especially dialing.

Hey JerryScript. Finally had a chance to flash the new build. Everything seems good to me with the exception of the GPS=No go, no way that I've tried.
Also the scrolling screen brightness=No go, is not even highlighted in CyanogenMod settings(the option is there, it's just not selectable). Could this be caused by a theme?

I just tested both, and they work fine.

A theme "could" affect the swipe to adjust brightness feature in the satus bar.

For GPS, make sure source is set to internal under settings. ;)

...

I expected this.

IMO it's not that bad if you know what it is doing exactly. I use the functions creating the "extendedcommand" file for quick backups/restores, and for managing backups and fixing permissions.

I use it myself, Even wrote the STICKY. Jerry's a little touchy about it for good reason, and it isn't getting any better. Now it will give 2.2.2 user's with the Hitachi screen a black screen in the Recovery or the ROM or both.
Who do you think gets to help straighten all those phones out?

GPS is set to internal. Nada, zip, duh where did it go, ca'put.
I'll wait for the next build and do a fresh install.

Here's a new one half the screen froze nothing would fix it earlier the whole screen froze and was able to swipe and tilt to fix it.

In case anyone is interested, I was able to get OpenVPN up and running fairly easily on the newest ROM. Never tried with previous versions, but all I had to do to get it working was to install the "OpenVPN Settings" application from the Market and then go into the advanced settings and complete the following steps:

- check the "Load tun kernel module"
- go into the "TUN module settings" and
----- change "Load module using" to "insmod"
----- change "Path to tun module" to "/system/lib/modules/tun.ko"

Once I made those few changes, I could use existing, known to be good configurations to connect up to my OpenVPN server without an issue. Both UDP and TCP connections seem to work fine.

I did not have to install BusyBox or download OpenVPN installer. I'm assuming those applications are built into the ROM or were installed with other applications that I already have on my phone. You would need to install those apps if they are not already on your phone.
