Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

It's the way memory is handled now. Before all that extra was unusable. It would just think it was free. I recommend link2sd I currently have 164 apps with 72mb free space.

Yes, but what's the point of having 100mb of unusable space? ;)

What used to happen is the 01mvdalvik script would move the dalvik cache to the same partition your market downloads would go to. This made it appear you had lots of extra space since dalvik cache was moved, but the Market would check the download folder for space, and since dalvik was in that partition, the Market wouldn't allow you to download/update and gave an insufficient space error.

Now with 01mvdalvik functionality removed, the dalvik-cache files stay in their normal directory, which is your internal space is taken up. You can use TB's integrate dalvik to system function to fix this, just be sure to undo it before you install another ROM or you'll have to reflash gapps. ;)

You can also use any of the *2sd scripts, but I do not support them, too many issues with so many different versions. jerryscript

All right, thanks for the help. That makes sense now as I had some errors when trying to install applications previously. I'm glad it is an accurate representation of the actual space now, Thanks!

I dont know if its just me but since the update, Picasa Tool hasn't been opening my albums. Can someone else with Picasa tool try opening one of their albums?

Here's a few lists to start you out:
[Boot Animation] [12/04/11] A Huge Collection of Boots ~ Updated - xda-developers
[BOOT ANIMATION] The Droids - xda-developers
Boot Animation Index

Note- Many of those are packages within flashable zip files or other packaging. You need to open each and see if the zip file contains other zip files within. You are looking for a zip file named bootanimation.zip containing only folders named part0 part1 part2 etc and a desc.txt file.

Also, if the images within the part0 file are not 320x480, they will often still work, but look squished or stretched. Try using mogrify or gimp to batch convert the images to a proper size. ;)

1/31 build. Overclocked to 768/480 interactivex. Making no effort to conserve battery life and using the phone pretty heavily, I still was able to get over a day of battery life. This ROM is awesome. Thanks Jerry
How exactly did you pull this off?

This is this best I can get:

I'm using 02192012. I had an issue twice this weekend when unlocking the phone I noticed that the lock screen did not show properly. The top of the lock screen looked like the top half of my 'home screen' and the bottom half of the lock screen was just black. The slider did not show but I was able to unlock the phone fine when I slid my finger where the slider should have been. I'm not complaining, just reporting.

Yes. So long as 3G is enabled, it will be used by processes that need network access while the screen is of if you set it this way.

Testing last year by mmarz proved this to be the most battery efficient method. ;)

Really? I'm pretty sure I see a big drop off in battery life whenever a weak 3g signal is used opposed to stable wifi. I would think even when the screen is off the 3g just isn't efficient enough.

We are talking about the intermittent background processes here. Not something like Pandora which will be running all the time. In that case, 3G battery usage is dependant upon signal strength atm. ;)

Just flashed this ROM last night, a couple things I thought were kinda worth mentioning.

- When the status bar is transparent there is a 1px white line along the very top of the screen

- My widgetlocker wallpaper doesnt go all the way to the bottom of the screen anymore, it stops about 7 or 8 pixels beforehand and the 7 or 8 pixels left are just black

- Widgetlocker doesnt auto start anymore and any apps on it have to be re-done (kinda annoying with simplistic text, it force closes WL when I try to restore the saved preferences in simplistic text)

- Although the status bar background is a cool touch, it would be even cooler if it cropped images rather than squishing them to fit

Also, whats with the new BACKside bootanimation before the system bootanimation? It could use a graphic designers touch.

But I do love the new options :) thanks for the updates as I am probably not switching to ICS, at least I dont plan on it yet.

What about an app like "talk"? Do you know if talk consistently polls (I think that's the right word?) to get information?

- That's because it's a gradient transparency, try a fully transparent color. ;)

-
-Don't know about that one, I don't use WidgetLocker, and haven't heard that reported.

-I've been working on incorporating the default cropping tool, no promises though. ;)

-The 1st bootanimation is comprised of 8bit RLE images, and I'm definitely not a graphics designer, so I don't know how to make ones that look nicer. Submissions welcome (no promises I'll use though), 320X480 png 8bit raw, 12 images total. ;)

Oh ok cool, I just wont reboot my phone much haha.

Ill take a crack at making a boot animation, ams a bit of a graphic designer. :)

Edit: 2 other things, I'm getting alot of force closures with the browser, but that could be from my overclock. Also what happened to longpressing the back button to close an app?

Great, thank you brotherswing, I appreciate your reply!
When I started to uninstall it with Titanium Backup it gave me an ominous warning!

I just installed BACKside and it's great, but there's an issue, I can not move anything to the sd card, it just freezes then restarts the phone. I'm on LG Optimus V (obviously :P)
Any help is greatly apprecieated.
