Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread. The problem presists with the stock rom. I called VM and they had me reset my mdn/msid and I'm still not getting texts. They've sent my problem on to their troubleshooting department and they will be calling me to try and get it resolved

My question is this: Do I need to remove CWM totally before they call me back? Will I have any problems should they want me to do a factory reset from the stock os while I am rooted and have cwm installed?

When they tell you to do a factory reset, do it from recovery, just don't tell them. Just say "OK, did that." and be prepared to boot into recovery to do it. ;)

No. It will not return your phone back to a out of the box state. It will wipe all user data. It will put your phone back to when you first flashed the ROM and gapps, with the touch the Android Guy and everything. You will still be rooted, with a custom recovery and ROM.

Well, yeah. When I said yes, I meant it accomplishes the same thing (removing all user data) not that it would return the phone to a bone stock condition.

I know what you meant. I don't think the OP did though. That's why I went a little deeper with the explanation, and in a way to insure he would fully understand.

Another Bug to report.
Some settings wont 'stick'.. such as Settings>>Display>>Screen timeout, Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Lockscreen>>Delay and timeout>>Screen timeout delay(and Screen turned off delay), Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Tablet tweaks>>Disable lockscreen.
so far, i cant revert any changes ive made in any of the listed settings. after i change them, i go to home, and then check to see if the changes stayed, but they dont.

I've encountered similar "settings won't stick" issue with some of the Status Bar Tweaks settings with BACKside 02192012. However, the new setting(s) would take hold after a reboot upon making the change(s)--e.g., Notification Dropdown Background. The only setting that is not changing for me is the Status Bar Background Color. I wanted to set the bar to be black instead of transparent but no luck. Even after the reboot, the setting is shown as the Custom Color option that is indeed selected for the Status Bar Appearance, and the Status Bar Background Color is indeed set to #00000000, but black is not shown on screen though--still transparent no matter what I tried. Can someone please confirm whether my observation is unique to my setup or the actual behavior of the latest BACKside? Thanks for any help.

It's an alpha based color setting, so you have set the transparency level to 00, which is fully transparent.

Try #ff000000 for fully opaque black ;)
(note- or just move the slider all the way to the right when it says #00000000)

I thought I'd tried #ff000000... :o However, I must have had not rebooted, as the Status Bar is black now after a reboot. Much thanks for your quick help, and best BACKside version yet! Looking forward to 4.0... :)

Is there any way to use another file manager? I had to download OI when I tried to change my drop down image.
Ended up going back to 01252012 build. 0219 just wasn't doing it for me. Was very jittery, lots of freezes and FCs. Screen freezing even once I disabled the ICS animations.

Jerry, amazing job once again, but I'm also experiencing the issue where after reboot saved settings aren't being reflected. For example I go back to the original Green Android Robot boot animation and my notification background goes away.

So i guess the phone is greater than Darth Vader, cause that was my notification background! LOL

Side note: My text issues have been resolved. Thanks to all who helped. It was an issue on VM's end and they ended up having to send it to engineering to get it fixed.

Is there a way to customize (or remove) the IHO and Backside animation on bootup? I've changed my boot animation but that part persists.

Glad to hear you got it figured out.

The only way to change the IHO logo and 1st bootanimation are to extract the ramdisc, remove the appropriate files, then repack the ramdisc into a boot.img. There are instructions you can google (asadullah has video tuts). ;)

There is yet another bug fix listed on CM for screen freezes, will be in this week's build.

TBH- this is the worst case of buggy code entering the CM tree I've seen. Gotta chalk it up to most people working on CM9 now. ;)

Just to clarify, are you saying you still get screen freezes with ICS rotation animations disabled?

Not a bug report but in case it happens to others:
My daughter dropped hers in a small amount of water and I caught it before it got too saturated. Dried it out and everything worked but said headphones were plugged in and only played through head phones. Tried everything I could think of nothing fixed it. Thought the speaker was broken. Last idea was to do a full wipe and reflash, tried update method no go, with the full wipe everything is now working no longer stuck in headset mode. :D

1/31 build. Overclocked to 768/480 interactivex. Making no effort to conserve battery life and using the phone pretty heavily, I still was able to get over a day of battery life. This ROM is awesome. Thanks Jerry

And running Pandora, good job

Hi,

When I updated my IHO build from the 12162011 build to the most recent one, suddenly my phone says I am running low on internal memory? On the previous build I had around 50 mb free space but after I've updated it I now have around 6 mb? Is this normal, is there any way to fix this?
