Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

I just installed BACKside and it's great, but there's an issue, I can not move anything to the sd card, it just freezes then restarts the phone. I'm on LG Optimus V (obviously :P)
Any help is greatly apprecieated.

Try turning the phone off and taking the sd card out and putting it back in

Try downloading a fresh .zip and install it after wiping and formatting everything necessary.
If that still doesn't solve your problem then you may have to transfer the content's of the sd card to a folder on your PC, then reformat your sd card and transfer everything back.

I had to do the last option just last week.

Oh ok cool, I just wont reboot my phone much haha.

Ill take a crack at making a boot animation, ams a bit of a graphic designer. :)

Edit: 2 other things, I'm getting alot of force closures with the browser, but that could be from my overclock. Also what happened to longpressing the back button to close an app?
For FCs, try opening terminal, and typing:
Code:
su
fix_permissions

To stop apps via long-pressing back key:
Settings>>Development>>Stop app via long-press (check it ;))

Great ROM, I really enjoy using it and appreciate the work Jerry.

I do have one slightly annoying issue, however. I didn't see this issue anywhere in this post, of course it could have been described differently, but here goes. (Using 20120219)

When I lock the phone either manually or the automatic screen lock kicks in, sometimes, the screen will be frozen in place, and the phone becomes unresponsive (seemingly). I have to pull the battery to restart. The funny thing is that the power button will toggle the display, I just can't get it to come up. I have only one lock screen enabled, the pattern screen. I've disabled the "double" login so to speak.

My phone was purchased 3 months ago and came at 2.2.2. Is there either a workaround or a known issue regarding this? Perhaps one of the animation settings is causing it?

Thanks!

It's an issue with the ICS rotation animations. I added an option in the last build to disable them.
Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Display>>ICS rotation animations
(uncheck it) ;)

Diane Hackborn from the AOSP team has another fix in CM's tree, I'll be trying it out in this weeks build.

Run the fix permissions ^ fix.
If that doesn't work check your Running Apps and move any that are on the uSD card to the system, then move one at a time back to the uSD card until it starts doing the same thing (this is the bad app)
If that didn't work you will have to download a fresh ROM and Gapp's (check the md5 sum) and reflash/install.

Not sure where else to post bugs, so I'm just going to do it here. I'm on LG Optimus V (obviously :P), and I just installed this, first let me say I LOVE it, it goes VERY fast, I love being able to overclock, however there are some issues, one in particular that is very impeding

I can not move apps to sd, when I try with ANY app, it just freezes and reboots. This really is the only problem that really kind of bugs me, because the Optimus V really doesn't have a lot of internal space.

Also, certain apps can't install, it wouldn't be an issue if they just failed, or the phone just reset like the standard Android OS seems to do with unsupported apps, but instead it freezes, and I have to remove the battery to reboot. This isn't as much of a problem though as the app to sd issue.

Settings- CyanogenMod Settings- Application- (check the box for) Allow Application Moving

If you do find the time to create a 1st bootanimation, here are the instructions for creating RLE images.

xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM+Kernel] Inferior Human Organs unofficial CM7.1

If you aren't running a linux box, just create the PNGs as mentioned in that link, and I'll batch convert them to RLEs. I do have a to565 binary for W7, but it's only pre service packs, so it probably won't work for most people (there may be other W7 to565 binaries floating around, but I use Ubuntu so I haven't searched).

Please manage to keep BACKside in there somewhere, the name is a tribute to those who made the ROM possible! ;)

Sounds like an issue with the sdcard, have you tried repartitioning/repairing?

I just tried repairing, and even reformating, still doesn't work. I can access all my files from it, music, pictures, but it still reboots my phone when I try to move an app to the sd card.

Do you have to have a separate ext partition? Or is that just for the apps2ext thing?

And oh, another glitch I have, which isn't as big of a deal but is kind of annoying, the boot animation (regardless which boot animation I use) flashes white in between each cycle, I feel like it's going to give me a seizure :P

Does anyone else have that problem? What might fix it?

I have not had this issue at all and I have tried multiple boot animations without any issues.

I've got my battery drain under control :D

Your using allot more WiFi and your phone is in use more than there's

Can someone tell me if there is another wifi sleep policy listed somewhere other than in the wifi advanced settings? I have mine set to wifi sleep when screen turns off but my battery graph is showing wifi drain even when the screen is off.

That's just the highlight flash "flashing", it's part of the theme of the animation. Luckily for you, I've made it easy to change the bootanimation, and I even included two extras for you to try out.

Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Interface>>Choose a bootanimation
(note, you can preview it first to be sure you like it ;))
Once the file manager opens:
Home>>system>>media>>(select a bootanimation)
or
sdcard>>WHEREEVER_YOU_DOWNLOADED_A_BOOTANIMATION
(note, Home is the icon in the top left corner of the filemanager ;))

Leap Year build of BACKside-IHO is up, you only get these once every 4 years, so hurry! ;)

Changes:
--Synced with CM
--3 fixes from AOSP for screen freezes
--Lots of little background changes like translations etc
--Frameworks for fingerprint unlock added but not functional yet
--Added ability to crop selected image for use as the notification dropdown background
--Cleaned up a bunch of leftover code and debugging

The new method for picking an image for use as the notification dropdown background only currently works with apps that support cropping (galleries and some file managers and some other apps). So long as the app has registered a receiver for the ACTION_GET_CONTENT intent, it should be an available option for selecting an image. Reboot or use Notification Restart to make the changes appear. ;)
Note- Currently it only appears as if galleries will work with the cropping.

As always, thanks to Blarf, BobZhome, mrg666, LeslieAnn, tdm, kermikalelite, Whyzor, bigsupersquid, the CM team, the AOSP team especially Dianne Hackborn, and many many more! ;)

I've changed the animation, every animation I use flashes a white screen in between cycles of the images, in fact the default one does it the least.

To better explain, the default one, once it gets to the looping animation where the light is spinning around, it flashes a white screen after each cycle of the spin. And same with other animations, it flashes white after each cycle of the looped part of the animation.

I don't get why I get these problems others don't seem to get on the exact same phone :*( I just have that kind of luck...

OK, well, it turns out the boot animation issue was just certain animations, I found animations on another web site that are a lot more minimal, run faster, and don't flash the white screen, so that issue is fixed, it was just a problem with the certain animations and the Optimus V.

However the app2sd still does the same thing as always, even after updating to the latest BACKside which just came out today. If anyone has any ideas I can try to fix it please let me know, what I've already tried:

Simply rebooting; deleting SD card contents, turning on 'Allow application moving' in the CyanogenRom settings; repairing SD file system; and reformatting SD (I've been keeping it in the standard FAT fs, does BACKside require a different filesystem for some reason?)

And that's everything I tried.

Also, I did not do anything funky when flashing BACKside, I followed the instructions to the letter, just like everyone else, before BACKside I could use app2sd, after I could not. At first I thought it was because I left all the original files on it from before, but like I said even after reformatting it still doesn't work.

Another note, when it reboots, it reboots directly to the boot animation, it doesn't show the LG logo or the BACKside IHO animation.
