Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

It's an issue with the ICS rotation animations. I added an option in the last build to disable them.
Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Display>>ICS rotation animations
(uncheck it) ;)

Diane Hackborn from the AOSP team has another fix in CM's tree, I'll be trying it out in this weeks build.

Jerry: Looks like the issue has persisted with the 20120229 release. I reenabled ICS rotation animations and the screen comes back on frozen with the last screen I was on instead of the unlock screen.

Thanks Jerry for the latest update. I think the 'Skip on security' function may be partially broken--under Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Lockscreen > Unlock options. I've always had this option checked/selected, and the setting would be retained and functional after the last several updates. However, in this latest 0229 update, the function no longer seem to work after a reboot--the Sliding Tab lockscreen appears even though disabled. Attempts to de-select that 'Skip on security' option would also not stick. Please check when you get a chance. Not a big deal, nor a show-stopper. Thanks again.

[Edit] Besides upon reboot, the Sliding Tab lockscreen also appears unexpectedly when the charger is first connected. [/Edit]
Was going to mention about this as well.....

I use Widgetlocker to lock my phone. All the other builds I used so far I had no problem disabling the CyanogenMod lockscreen. With this build when I slide my slider on the Widgetlocker, which then went to my number pad for my passcode, now goes to the CyanogenMod lockscreen. Then when I slide that, it goes to the number pad.
Before I think I went into the CyanogenMod settings and clicked disable when password is used, but it does not appear to be working correctly in this build.

[FONT=&quot]Other small issue I have noticed, I use my Blue Marble theme, I noticed that the cell strength symbol is not the correct one at certain times. I did recook the theme in the Kitchen and have not flashed it yet to see if it was a Kitchen glitch or flashing glitch

Running into the same thing with the rotation animations. Unfortunately that still doesn't appear to be fixed. Too bad, those animations are really nice.

Well, I fixed the problem with my phone freezing when installing certain apps, it wasn't that the apps weren't compatible, it was a problem with Lookout security. Removed Lookout and replaced it with Avast, Avast on Android works AMAZING, and it even has features for rooted phones (and a setting specific for CyanogenMod :D). Now the same great security I had on Windows before I switched to Ubuntu, I have on Android :]

Anyhow, my SD card problem, which is the biggest problem, still hasn't gone away. And I don't have a funky SD card, the card works fine, it worked perfectly fine for app2sd before installing BACKside, I was hoping removing Lookout would have fixed it, but it didn't.

I was wondering what the proper steps are to restore a nandroid. What are you supposed to wipe and whatnot?

I had the same problem using those icons in the past on two different v's. I think that icon pack is just flawed somehow and can't work correctly with our phone
I just went back and cooked the theme again. Just realized I had selected the wrong icon pack.
Flashed the theme with the corrected icons and all is working as it has in the past....
except for having the CyanogenMod lockscreen issue. Are others having this issue as well? I did a full wipe for the 02292012 ROM if that had a difference.

You either had a bad download (did you use the BacksideUpdater? it checks the download automatically, if not you have to check the md5sum), or you didn't wipe cache/dalvik-cache, or you had a bad flash.

Redownload, check the md5sum once it's on your phone, then reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache (under advanced), then flash the ROM zip file, then reboot. ;)

To check the md5sum, open the BacksideUpdater (in your app drawer), wait for it to load the manifest, then press the menu key and select "Already download - Select File Manually", then choose the ROM zip file.

or

Open terminal emulator and type the following:
Code:
su
md5sum /sdcard/download/BACKside-IHO-VM670-02292012.zip

Thanks i got it working!

Just lost the ability to mount an SD card. I updated my ROM last night (wiped cache and davlik prior to install) and all was well. I had a screen freeze so I pulled the battery and rebooted. I ran fix_permissions and now the SD card cannot be found. I've tried a couple of SD cards with no luck. Phone won't go into USB storage mode when plugged into my computer either. Any suggestions?

yeah, everything's still on the card. I rebooted into recovery and tried to mount from there and got the following message: "Error mounting /sdcard!" After searching, I found a link to the LG drivers to fix the USB connectivity issue, but I can't install them without an SD card. Maybe a hardware failure?

Transfer all the data from your uSD card into another folder on your PC, and then format. Put the SD card into your phone and select erase sd card in the storage option. Put it back into the PC and see if you have a couple of folders in it. If yes then transfer your files back, re-insert into phone. This worked for me.

Thanks for the suggestion...but no such luck. When I tried to erase it, I got a message that said "SD card has been removed."

Sounds like the slot on the phone has gone bad. If the card works everywhere else, and no other card works in the phone then its bad hardware. That seriously bites!

Jerry, would it be possible for you to implement more descriptive time stamps on text messages from the day prior?

Say you sent/received a text message yesterday, the exact time when it was received is no longer displayed. It's a small suggestion, but I think it's a great one.

Have you tried to formatted in your PC? I know you will loose everything that you had, but that is how I got mine working again.

Just a report from the 02192012 rom as I haven't updated yet. I've started using widget locker as well as switched my launcher to Espier. Everything seems to be working great with one exception.

Upon rebooting the phone, I am presented with the standard android lock screen instead of the widget locker one. I unlock the phone and am dropped into the adw launcher instead of Espier. I can then hit the home button and it gives me the choose launcher screen. I choose Espier and also check the 'always use this launcher button' at the bottom. After doing this my lock screen works as it should and Espier stays active until I reboot again and then I have to go through the procedure again.

It's really not a big deal but I thought I'd mention it if it's something that can be fixed easily or perhaps it's already been fixed. Thanks for the hard work. I'm really loving my Optimus V!
