Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

I guess I spoke too soon. Now I can't download apps from market again. Won't even download.

"Error downloading [app]. There is insufficient space on the device."

I wiped the dalvik cache. Now the apps will download. But when it tries to install I get "package is invalid".

More stable yes, more features maybe, better working features definitely. ;)
Awesome!

I don't know what you've done, but I had random issues. What I did to fix was go into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik and do a full reset. Then a fresh install of the latest version. Everything worked fine.

Try booting to recovery, and wipe Dalvik 3 times, format boot, cache, and data 3 times, and then reinstall the rom again. And install an older version of gapps so you would get the older market app. If that doesn't help, then not sure what to tell ya other than trying out another rom.

What about all the cm mods, will we still have them?

Edit: not sure all the details but the recovery is designed for iho gives you a better wipe and supposed to be better install. It does seem to run better when using it over cw and xionia just not sure why. If it works I don't ask questions if not I try to find out why.

Exciting News!

The official gingerbread source is finally being released for the S! We already have a working kernel thanks to Drew!

I'm testing now, look for a new build in a few days. If you can't wait, look for Drew's Gingerkernel. ;)

i'm freaking excited to see this!! I'm definitely flashing it once you put it up lol. Thanks again!

Hey Jerry, just wondering if you might have an idea about this. Would flashing a new recovery (xionia to clockwork) on top of the latest 8/25 build have any sort of affect on 3G speeds? It seems like I might have seen something about 3G and certain recoveries while looking through the forums in the last few days. Then again, I could be just having an off day on my 3G, too.

I'm kind of scared of trying the new kernel. From what I've read you can't overclock, and the phone runs slower. Anyone here try it with the build from the 25th? What issues have you encountered? And also, can you restore to a backup if it doesn't work well?

ok, so i finally found something that seems to not be working for me, the built in USB tether option, when i check the box, about 3-5 seconds later, it becomes unmarked again. any tips?

Tried Drew's kernel. The phone was unresponsive when trying to wake it from sleep. That was a big turnoff to me, so I went back to my last backup. I think I will wait for Jerry's new build.

That's what I did, too. I've tried it five times now.

Did all that, except for the older gapps. I even switched to IHO recovery. I don't want to use the old market. Plus, nobody else seems to have the problem. Somehow my VM670 is different, I guess. :confused:

Now the fix to move the download cache to SDcard doesn't even work. I have no way to install apps from the market.

Double test today, downloaded inotia 3 installed and ran with no issues at all. The game itself is 18 mb, some have reported the game not running, I am on the most current build no special fixes just did a full wipe, installed zip, flashed gapps. I do use link2sd. I am also on blarfs recovery.

. I've also been able to change the bootsound as well as the bootanimation with no problems using es file explorer. Battery life in a dead area running Netflix over 3g for an hour plus drained %14 not bad considering.

wow, usually when i try running netflix for that long, i notice a 20%-35% drain, especially over 3G.

i do have one quick question though, is it possible to do the USB tether with an X-Box 360? just curious.. and i know that trying to play any games over live while using the tether, would most likely end with losing connection often. but i would still like to know if its possible to at least connect to live via USB tether.

I'm assuming you have the old one without wifi, it's designed to only connect through the ethernet port even the adapter uses the ethernet port.

yea my curiosity got the best of me, and so i tried it myself, pulled the ethernet cord out, plugged my phone into it, enabled USB tether, 360 froze.. forced shut down (pulled the power cable plugged back in, power button was unresponsive) then i turned it back on... black screen, error E 68? or something, not know what that was at first, i went into a panic, restarted my x-box several times, same result, unplugged phone from x-box, no change.. looked up "E 68" and come to find out, all i did was accidentally disconnect the hard drive.. lol right? so i reinserted the HDD and tried the USB tether, thinking that it would work the same way as plugging in a wireless modem into the x-box, (my friend has a wireless USB NETGEAR adapter instead of the X-box 360 wireless adapter(thats what mainly sprang this thought)) but had no luck, oh well, not to worried about it. it was worth a shot though.

so now im going to test how well the USB tether works on my computer.

Test 1(3G):

Test 2(3G):

Test 3(3G):

Test 4(wifi):

Test 5(wifi):

Test 6(wifi)(final test):

As you can see, using the USB Tether as a wireless modem to connect to a WiFi hotspot or home network, is greatly more effective, (kinda obvious..) but i was also noticing that using USB Tether through the phones 3G works fairly well, surfing is kinda slow, but faster dial-up (56K) so the USB Tether is not entirely useless. just better used as a WiFi modem.

Thanks. I missed that post. I think that info should be in the OP.

I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but I noticed the Optimus V has a Broadcom BCM4325, which is FM tuner capable. Yet this ROM has the FM radio removed. I suppose it's not possible to get that functionality?
