Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Flashed, first impression... Don't like the new unlock. I haven't had time to really run it and see anything else, so this is purely an visual thing. Also did you nix the self destruct start up sound?

I haven't had time to get it but there is an app called widget locker you can design your own lock screen.

I've messed wit WL before and it seemed to mess stuff up unless you got the paid app.
Yeah I played with it too a while ago. Wasn't very intuitive... at all. I've seen some locks that other people created but for some reason I couldn't get it to work right. I like the new unlocker that BobZhome has. I don't know if it's in BackSide or not.
Right now I'm testing a new IHO ROM Sonygenmod found here. AndyOpie mentioned it earlier. Not too bad and I like the interface. Still in alpha, I'm getting alot of FC's but very very interesting!!

I had went to the 1st post and downloaded the ROM described as the 10042011.zip and wasn't paying attention to the actual description in the download box I clicked on,and got the 09282011 build instead. Still didn't notice on my PC,just clicked on the BACKside ROM with the correct download date(I was half asleep at this time, but couldn't wait to flash it).
When I installed it using ROM Manager and obijohn's update wiper(thinking it was the new build) everything was acting amazingly well with no glitches what so ever. After running V6 Supercharger and rebooting after each selection,it was now amazingly smooth and responsive(this is the 09282011 build were talking about), still with no glitches.
I went back and flashed the theme(10-042011)since I had 2 really good reboots on the ROM. It promptly went into a boot loop. I'm kind of slow, but not that slow, and figured out that the theme was messing things up. I installed the MiRaGe backup I had made and then looked to see if I had transferred the wrong theme to the sd card. The theme was right, but the ROM wasn't.

The point to this lengthy explanation is the fact that the 09282011 acted flawlessly with no glitches(it was horrible the first time I installed it).
This was due in part slightly to installing from scratch, but mostly due to obijohn's update wiper.zip.

I will now always install obijohn's update wiper.zip first, then the ROM and Gapps.

It's based on the 09282011 BACKSide build with the BobZhome v2 kernel. I'm sure once they figure out that there is a new BACKside with the v3.1 kernel they will be updating.

Is there a way to get more than one custom application for the ring lockscreen style?

That would be a lot more useful. The Optimus V has a smaller screen, but it looks like you could fit at least 2 or 3 custom applications on the screen.

This version has 4 custom applications: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7etPPvbl4Q

I was thinking the same thing! I will look into the code and see if I can extend it to three, but no promises.

Yeah, Daxelectro mentioned that an update for us is coming on the 8th. This is the fun part of all of this... you flash JerryScript, Bobz and anything that you might be interested in and try them out. You get a new phone everytime you do!! ;)

WL doesn't have a free version. It's a kickass app though. Was the first app I ever bought.
I don't know what app it was then. It looked like widget launcher. It was free and had some free locks, but most of the stuff you had to pay and if you applied something free it only half way worked and after you unlocked with it you'd see the regular lock controls for a sec.

When I go through my purchases on the market, U is the last that appears. I have 3 more pages after that but when I load them they're blank.

The lockscreen style is an option, the others are all still there under
settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Lockscreen>>Style options>>Lockscreen style
After using the new style for the afternoon, I'm not hating the lock screen. It was just the initial unwanted change. I am okay now though.

This is weird. The 10/4 update fixed the transparency glitch in the Facebook app, but didn't fix it in the Pulse News app.

It's better than the last build, but still not perfect yet. Keep up the good work.

after playing with the new update for at least 2-3 more days, i'll give my feedback, but my immediate feedback is, i kinda like the new unlock screen, although i just immediately made the menu button unlock my phone for quicker access. it seems to be pretty smooth, im testing the new smartass govenor running at 825/480, seems to be running smoother than the previous build, and with V6 running as well, its highly resposive. i did notice a "cap" on the volume when you have headphones plugged in, i like it, cause now i can listen to music full blast without any distortion and worry of blowing my headphones, not sure if its just me that noticed or just MY phone, but i do like it. i also noticed that the status bar icons still overlap with the centered clock, but im still not to worried about it, i like the new options in the cyanogenmod menu, they seem to help a lot. so far no force closes, except GO Launcher, but that was when i just restored it and was setting it up again, so no big deal. WIFI issues were fixed, connection is great. battery life is amazing, when i installed yesterday, i managed to get 23hr 15min 37seconds.. but then again i dont have service for the next 9 days, so its in airplane mode all day unless i use the WIFI. overall, great update so far.

Just got a chance to update and so far looks good no system freeze when installing apps.

Jerry I did see the boot sound but its not playing during boot. I replaced it and still no sound. Was hoping for it for my gba boot animation.

There is a new setting that may help/hurt, I don't use either of those apps, so I would appreciate if you could try them and see if they make any difference.

settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Performance>>16bit transparency

And just above the is the surface dithering options. Both may have some effect on your issue, but I don't know if they will help or hurt, so feedback is welcome! ;)

This ROM doesn't appear to have CIFS support. Would it be possible to add it? It would be great to use CIFSmanager and similar apps.

The module has been built for CIFS for BobZhome's kernel (which I use), but I believe I forgot to add the necessary copy files line in the ROM's source. I'll add it next build, till then, try Bob's or mrg666's builds, I believe they both have CIFS enabled properly. ;)

Oh my gosh you guys, me the one who needed extreme hand-holding to flash Harmonia a few months back, just flashed BACKside all by herself..and it worked! and it.is.beautiful! Mind=blown :D I feel like a kid in candy store...its gonna take me a few days to discover everything I can do with this :D Thanks JerryScripts and everyone else who made this possible

Edit: I didn't change my recovery from xionia to clockworkmod or anything...is that ok? I tried, but it didn't know out so good...

Well hello stranger! ;)
Glad to see you got the nerve up to move on up to CM7. You should be fine with xionia, though some people say they have issues with it, I have not. I've used every recovery available at one time or another, and haven't had any issues (except the thunderc recovery, it's way too old for me to even try ;) )

awesome. :D one quick question, im sure it has been covered, but this thread is ginormus and whatnot and I only have mom's computer for a couple of days,so I have to figure this stuff out fairly quickly....Im trying to set up link2sd, and ive tried it with a Fat32 partition and and ext2 partition, and i can't get either to work...what is preferable for the ROM? if any? Fat32 looked like it was gonna work, but i rebooted after it told me to, then i go"mount script cannot be created. mount:mounting dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed: I/0 error" *sigh* ive been working on this sdcard partitioning and rom flashing since i got home from work at 5..

I don't use any of the 2sd scripts, I prefer to use TitaniumBackup to manage my infrequently used apps via backup/restore. Try asking in the links2sd thread, I believe MacFett is one who can help you out. ;)
