Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

This rom uses ext4 I didn't even think of that when you said you were getting the error. Clock work recovery will format it to ext4 for you without the PC.

I'm probably the only person in the world to use this, but just in case anyone else misses the microphone key (for speech to text) on their keyboard, simply reinstall Voice Search and you'll get the feature back. :)
I can't live without it. It makes texting ,and emails, and posting here so much easier.

I don't use any of the 2sd scripts, I prefer to use TitaniumBackup to manage my infrequently used apps via backup/restore. Try asking in the links2sd thread, I believe MacFett is one who can help you out. ;)

yeah,i know but i think ive bothered him enough for one night :) im gonna play with it some more tomarrow. Right now, titanium is having problems restoring my apps :(

oh, and is it ok to uninstall some of the apps google apps i wont use? like books and what not? i'll never use it...

Oh my gosh you guys, me the one who needed extreme hand-holding to flash Harmonia a few months back, just flashed BACKside all by herself..and it worked! and it.is.beautiful! Mind=blown :D I feel like a kid in candy store...its gonna take me a few days to discover everything I can do with this :D Thanks JerryScripts and everyone else who made this possible

Edit: I didn't change my recovery from xionia to clockworkmod or anything...is that ok? I tried, but it didn't know out so good...
If you have any glitches let us know and we can get you hooked up into the suggested recovery for this ROM. Plus A little extra help in doing the full wipe before install with obijohn's update wiper.zip. If everything works fine Don't worry about it.

ah, ext4 I can do that. Thank you :D
I know it was probably said somewhere in this thread, but my headache thanks you for not making me search for it

I read the post u had made about the wiper, and i made sure to use it, since in know xionia has an issue with wiping completely. Worked great :D only problem im having is TB wants to stop after 7-30% restoring my apps...hmm

what ever app it stopped on try going into Titanium after rebooting the phone(pocket pc) and go to backup/restore and Delete the app(make sure you can get it back from the market). This happened to me with the ROM's using the BobZhome v2 kernel and I even tried using The "Fix Permissions" option in ROM Manager to no avail. Had to delete the app and then Titanium backup worked fine.

Now this is going to sound kind of crazy but it can't hurt to try. I have noticed that all the ROM's that were corrupted by residual data that I had to delete, when I was in the recovery and in the advanced option, when I selected the wipe dalvik cache option the confirmation page would not just pop right up. It took 10-12 sec's some times. This only happened on the ROM's that were corrupted by the residual data, not the good ROM's. Something to check if your still having problems.

If this is still a problem you might have to use the aospCWMod recovery in the first post. Just dust off your terminal emulator and drag out the reading glasses. After renaming it to recovery.img and putting it on the root of the sd card type in this on the terminal emulator:
su(return)
flash_image_recovery_/sdcard/recovery.img(return)
reboot_recovery(return)

There is a new setting that may help/hurt, I don't use either of those apps, so I would appreciate if you could try them and see if they make any difference.

settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Performance>>16bit transparency

And just above the is the surface dithering options. Both may have some effect on your issue, but I don't know if they will help or hurt, so feedback is welcome! ;)

I tried:

surface dithering ON, 16 bit transparency ON
surface dithering ON, 16 bit transparency OFF
surface dithering OFF, 16 bit transparency ON
surface dithering OFF, 16 bit transparency OFF

I rebooted after trying each setting. I didn't notice any changes. Oh well. Worth a try, I guess. haha

Oddly, this is the ONLY time i have flashed a rom where the dalvik cache option DIDN'T hesitate, lol. And I tried that with the term em, it didnt work out so well (blue screen, fast boot? i think it said, had to pull batt to get out)
so far i can restore a couple of apps one by one, then it will hang and i have to force close. Its really odd. I hope i didnt medd up anything on the SDcard, but i dont think i could have really. Bah, im getting the essentials back tonight, then im going to bed! ill deal tomorrow

Okay I'm pretty sure this has been addressed before but.. is there anyway I can move the clock back to it's original spot on the right instead of center?

By the way, EXCELLENT build ^_^

I'm not really fond of the center position of the clock myself. Would you be able to add in options for clock placement (left, center, default)? That would rock!

Sorry, I'm working on the problem right now.
Ran the code and it booted into the recovery I had chosen just fine.
Hey, how come we get all the goofy problems with are phones.
Will still be working on it.
When you wake up try using the old sd card with all the stuff it had on it before and try using Titianium Backup, then let me know what you get. It could be your new uSD card/Link2SD endeavor didn't quite turn out the way you had expected.

Hey JerryScript. I really like the Green Machine Theme, but on install of the theme the ROM went from feeling super smooth to kind of a little laggy. Went and restored backup I made just before install of theme. ROM is now super smooth again.
I really like the theme, any suggestions.

I also vote for having an option to change the clock position. I much prefer it on the right. I've been using an older build because it bothers me, lol.

Sadie, this rom reads fat32 (they all will, it is one of the most basic formats) and ext3 that I've tried so far.

I was thinking the same thing! I will look into the code and see if I can extend it to three, but no promises.

Wait a minute... the setting to add more custom apps is already there! I have that feature enabled right now, matter of fact.

CyanogenMod settings > Lockscreen > Style options > Custom application. The thing I did to get it enabled was to reselect a custom app, and after that, you'll see an "add" option to add up to three more apps to the ring. :D:D:D

Thanks fructose. This works nice.

That's the plan, but it's turning out to be a bit more difficult to implement than I thought. Hopefully I'll figure it out for the next build. ;)

I flashed 10042011 and it went great. Smooth as silk. Did a half dozen reboots over the day, to as you say Tighten things up. Then last night I flashed green machine, did a couple reboots and it is still fine for me. Which is good because I forgot to do a backup before I added Green Machine. I would just keep doing reboots, I'm guessing you did already because that is like your mantra, but I know I forget stuff like that when working on my own things.

i know but i think ive bothered him enough for one night
I am leaving for #OWS in an hour and will be out of town until Sunday or Monday. Hope you figure out everything.

The theme doesn't seem to cause any issues for me, but I actually flashed it together with the ROM. I follow a slightly different install process than most, and it's a pita, but works for me.

1) Reboot recovery and backup
2) Wipe cache, dalvik cache x3, cache again (almost an obsessive compulsive act ;) )
3) Mount sdcard and copy over my latest build from my PC
4) Flash the ROM
5) Reboot and test all functions and features
6) If all goes well, create GreenMachine theme, and upload theme and ROM to mediafire
7) Download files from mediafire to my phone and test md5 sums
8) Reboot recovery
9) Wipe cache, dalvik cache x3, cache again (see what I mean ;) )
10) Flash ROM (downloaded copy) and GreenMachine theme
11) Reboot and enjoy

This way I ensure there are no problems with the files available for download, but to be honest it does not ensure there are no problems with the theme itself, that would require an additional flash sequence to isolate any issues. However, since I use it on a daily basis, my daily usage is my ultimate testbed, and usually shows any issues there may be. I've been using UOT Kitchen to make themes for 8 months now, hasn't failed me yet.

Hopefully macfett will be able to read this but I have not been able to get any other ext other than 4 to work with this rom. Unless something has changed since the beginning of this rom to change that compatability since I jumped on near the beginning and haven't changed it since.

By the way jerry this rom has come sooo far since the first time I flashed.

Sadie or anyone else for that matter I'll help out any I can with link2SD. I've been very active in macfett thread and have been able to soak in alot of his knowledge on the topic. At least what he's revealed so far. ;)

Thanks! I got it working with ext4 :) seems to be the magic number. Something went a little weird last night, but can't remember what I did, I fell asleep and woke up a half hour later with the phone next to my head, suck on the boot screen, lol. I pulled the battery, rebooted and it was fine. FYI, since this rom keeps the phone on when your charging it, if you try to pull the battery, the phone still lights up/turns on with the battery is pulled out, at least for a few seconds. Yeah, admittedly a bad idea to pull the battery while it was plugged in. I was sleepy, had just woke up, brain haven't kicked in yet

Thanks, I'll do the wipe routing you outlined. I'm sure that will solve the problem, you haven't been wrong yet.

One other quick question. Anybody that knows how to do this can jump in with the answer. If I want to quote a post, but just a specific part of that post, how would I go about accomplishing that.
