Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

I'm still having problems with MMS. Can't send or download. Sending it shows a "sending..." that never goes away. Anyone else have this issue? Also does anyone know how to map the voice search button?

Wow, I've been playing with this all day (at work, shh don't tell) and it is just so awesome :D I just want to hug everyone involved in making my phone so spiffy...esp since i just discovered what theme chooser is for, and all the free cm7 themes in the market...eeee!! My phone is getting an awesome new Halloween themed makeover :D I love how simple everything has been...reading about the other cm7 roms back before I took the plunge and flashed anything, they sounded so complicated and difficult to deal with, and this is just...easy and nice. One question tho- is it safe to use root toolz to change the system font? will that conflict with anything? Thank you thank you again :)

There's also allot of themes online made by individuals.

i know, i've got that xda thread bookmarked. im starting slow, checking out what i can do with the market ones, then i'll branch out to the others.

are the themes that are put in the market not made by individuals?

Pretty sure I read somewhere that you can download a button mapper or button re-mapper app to map the voice search button

From the first post, under known bugs:
Voice Dialer button is not mapped, use Button Remapper from the market and set it as you like.
Would be nice if someone could post instructions on how to map the button manually, if possible, so we don't have to buy the app just for one button. Maybe it's as simple as editing a config file somewhere?

JerryScript, is it your personal preference to not have the button mapped?

I tried looking it up but ButtonRemapper has been discontinued.

I just think of market items as commercial. Not really sure why I said it that way lol.

ok. i was just confused, because alot of the themes i found on the big xda list of themes just linked to the market...pretty good ones too, but i couldn't get some to work :(

side note: anyone tried the transparent status bar mod? it looks awesome, but the process i read to apply it looks....scary.

Sorry, I'm working on the problem right now.
Ran the code and it booted into the recovery I had chosen just fine.
Hey, how come we get all the goofy problems with are phones.
Will still be working on it.
When you wake up try using the old sd card with all the stuff it had on it before and try using Titianium Backup, then let me know what you get. It could be your new uSD card/Link2SD endeavor didn't quite turn out the way you had expected.

Ha! got clockwork to, erm, work!:D I had a bad download (even tho i downloaded it with the computer, which is why i didnt think to check that right away) and links2sd seems to be working well too. Im a happy camper :) Any differences I should be aware of between CWM and xionia, besides using the camera button to select options?

I'm know you don't want to hear this, but assuming your 3g service is up, the only solution is to do a full wipe/format and then redownload and reflash the ROM and gapps.

The voice search button isn't working because we can't recreate the bin file for the keyhook. It's a proprietary format, and not open source.

Here's where you can get button remapper:
[App] ButtonRemapper - Beta v0.2.4 (New Galaxy S version added) - xda-developers

@sadielynn: CW should be very similar to xionia, you've noticed the button changes, that's about it on the surface.

For a transparent status bar, look into UOT Kitchen while you're still around your mom's computer. You can create just a transparent status bar, or an entire theme, just by clicking on what you want. It's an amazing resource for customizing your phone! It's what I use to build my GreenMachine Theme each new build. ;)

Grrr I really didn't want to hear that  haha. I'll have to think about this.

Jerry,

I'm still having major issues with the status bar where everything on it disappears. It's blank each time I flash your rom and reboot into the phone for the first time. I can't get the icons back unless I download something from the Market. The icons also disappear when I change out themes using the Theme Chooser.. they come back when I download something from the Market.

These are all of the steps I go through each time (already made my app backups with Titanium Backup and copies to DropBox). I realize I do not have to do all of those exact steps in between your rom updates, but I want to make sure that there's no residual files that might be corrupt causing this problem.

Using Xonia Recovery

Boot to recovery
1: Create backup (don't forget!!!)
2: Wipe - cache partition.
3: Wipe - dalvik cache
4: Wipe - data/factory reset
5: Format - boot > system > data > cache
6: Flash - update_wiper_1.3.zip
7: Flash - rom
8: Flash - gapps

Rebooted phone several times, still having status bar issues.

Downloaded Harmonia and followed *all* of the steps above. Status bar is fine.

Installed your rom again following *all* of the steps above. Same status bar issues.

Installed BoZhome's rom following *all* of the steps above. No status bar issues at all, even when using Theme Chooser (same downloaded themes too).

Deleted your rom from my SD card and re-downloaded again.

Installed your rom again following *all* of the steps above. Same status bar issues.

Installed Clockworkmod Recovery.

Installed your rom again following *all* of the steps above. Same status bar issues.

Last time.. Installed your rom again following *all* of the steps above. Same status bar issues.

No idea why I'm having these problems with the status bar in your rom. If there is something that I have missed, something you see that I am doing wrong, or if you think I've left something out that you need to know, give me a holler.

I do love your rom and will be sticking with it... everything runs extremely smooth and I haven't had any problems with anything else other than the above.

Checked both files.. the one on my pc hard drive and the one on the SD card. Both are fine.

Are you using the newest gapps? Because when I was,I was having the same issue. I flashed back to the 6-something-2011 build and it fixed the problem for me

According to Button Remapper, the voice dialer button is already mapped. Though, it doesn't actually do anything when I press it. I didn't change anything in Button Remapper, this is just how it looks after installing it.

I click to change the button, and I don't see an option for Voice.

Would you happen to have that old gapps file handy, and if so... would you, could you, if you please, share?

Do I just reflash the gapps file you give me, or are there other steps (besides backup in recovery) that I need to follow before/after flashing this?

It should be on the OP on the first page of this thread towards the bottom. Click on "download latest version of gapps here" and when it takes you to the next page, check the date on the cm7 version. If it's dated for June 2011, it's the one i'm using. Sorry idk how to share links on mobile.
And I'd double check on this, but I think all you have to do is "wipe cache" and under advanced "wipe dalvik cache"
Edit: then you need to flash gapps. (lol)
Like I said, make sure that's right first, i'm just going off the top of my head. Sorry if i'm not much help right now, i'm at work

It's all good.. thanks for any and all help you do give. :)

If it's gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip, that's the only one I see and also the one I have installed.

Just to be sure, I checked the MD5 against the one I have on my SD card and pc and they match up good.
