Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Ive already tried that with the static IP turned it on and off. The MAC Address and IP Address both say unavailable. I downloaded a wifi manager and that didnt help at all. My GPS and Bluetooth work tho.

Another little issue- Gmail keeps force closing on me as soon as I open it.

reflash cm7 and gapps again, making sure you fomat boot, system, data, cache.

No biggie, but yesterday when I tried using free wifi at McDonald's and Staples hotspots, I was faced with a web authentication login page. I have never had that before. Is this common with cm7, or is it due to the new IP address in this build? just wondering... Thanks!

sounds like something new at McD's and staples as their routers is what would control that.

So I was going through the process of installing Cynogen on my phone, and booted into CWM Recovery mode and formated all sections it requested an cleared all caches, did all directions step by step but forgot one crucial thing. I forgot to install the Cynogen 7 file cause my door bell rang and a neighbor had a short conversation with me. Assuming I had installed it after talking to him, I rebooted and now I am screwed.

The Phone boots to the white screen with the huawei logo and that is it. I cannot connect to the PC, I tried to fast boot and for the last few hours I have been stuck trying everything to no avail. I am simply pissed at myself for allowing myself to get so distracted and goofing up like that.

I was hoping to find a way to boot CWM straight from SDcard on my phone because that may be the only way to get my phone working again, but found no solution. So now I am on my hands and knees banging my head to the wall and begging for someone's mercy who can assist me.

All original metro files were deleted as were all system files and folder so there is no way to boot into the launcher at all so white screen is all have with the logo.

did you do a backup? if you did just press Volume up - Send key - & Power button in this sequence it will put you in CWM, & hit restore. you should be fine

your phone is not bricked ;) its just not booting up, and i did this before, i forgot to install the cynagon zip and i ended up with only a white screen only, so i booted to CWM (Vol up + Send/Call button + Power) and i did all the process over. and i had it working again. but if you can't boot into CWM go to your PC and look for any download file. Go here if you have a hard time looking for it. And then follow the steps you followed before and install CWM again.

How long did you have to hold the buttons for if you do not mind me asking? When i hold all three buttons, it does vibrate shortly at initial start but then it remains on that screen and I get no CWM messages or anything

hey, i think i might know your problem. u arnt pressing buttons correctly. try doing this.
1. HOLD DOWN the volume +
2) WHILE HOLDING down the volume +, HOLD the call button
3) WHILE HOLDING BOTH volume + and call button, PRESS the power button just one, BUT KEEP ON HOLDING the volume + and call button untill you see cwm, dont let go of em for like 20 secs lol

Okay you were right my dumbness was pressing the wrong button, I had to look at my wife's ascend. What I got after pressing these buttons is the following:

Firmware Update
step 1/2
Unpacking
Updated failed

No CWM but all my buttons are flashing

Okay sp I realized I had the SD card inserted, I removed the card yet still no luck.

Running pg's 0728... I'm using the default theme the icons in my status bar are green... every so often my data icon and dbm bars switch to grey and when this happens i get no data... sometimes the data icon itself disappears and doesn't come back for an hour or 2... any suggestions as to why or a possible fix??

side note... still no mms...

Couldnt get wifi to work so I decided to re-flash, and now I get stuck on the Huawei screen. Help?

Sorry still new at this.

DISREGARD- I had to just keep flashing and re-flashing the recovery in RM. For some reason it wouldnt flash even tho it would tell me it did.

Also got wifi working. Thanks ya'll!

I appreciate the video and indeed it seems helpful yet it has not fixed my issue. N

I finally did figure out what to do and I just started examing what the fastboot, adb commands did and started messing with it by erasing bothe the recovery folder and the system folder. I then went into the MetroStock recovery app and started using the dos commands in there to get my phone back to original stock. Thank you all sincerely for all the help you gave me, i appreciate it.

I am extremely glad that I just took the time to mess with those commands so now I know for next time.

Hello Everyone. My Name is Andy and Its nice to meet everyone. Im kinda a rookie at this, so dont be too harsh on me. We were all rookies once.. :)
Anyway, I Rooted my huawei Ascend with z4 root successfully. Installed Rom manager and Located the latest cyanogenmod 7 rom file. Placed it in my root of my sd card and used rommanager to install it. Install was successful. got back into rom manager and added all the google apps. First off, wifi would not work. and then gradually, 1 by 1, none of my apps would work. marketplace to make me force close. as would facebook, angry birds, and eventually everything! I was finally able to get Rommanager to run long enough to restore my old rom from clockworkmod. Why did CM7 do this? What steps did I miss? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much in Advance!

Did you wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik cache? Also which gapps did you use, should be using 0613 on the latest builds.

Also may have too reboot into CWM and format everything but the sdcard.

also i would recommend a class 4 sd card and partion it before install the latest builds of cm7 which will move all your apps and cache to sdcard, any lower card will cause great slowness...

Ok, if I do a factory data reset, will that delete my root privilages? Also, Will I have to redownload rom manager from the marketplace in order to install the rom or will it still be on the phone? Thanks everyone for your help..

no root wont be affected and rom manager is installed by default in CM7. You also can reboot into CMW to install roms either from RM or from the power menu, or from power off by pressing SEND, VOL UP, POWER.
