Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

I just did the mod, LOVE IT :)

But... now when I plug the phone into the computer it shows up as CD drive and I cannot view the files on my sd card, and I cannot add to it, am I missing something??

Thanks,

Eric

Are you mounting the SD card on your phone and computer. In CM7, drag the status bar down, click the 'click to transfer files' button and something will pop up on your computer. Just click open folder to view files. That should do it.

correct me if I am wrong, but wasnt this the same on 2.1?? lol

I tried it that way, I can see the files on my sd card now, but when I try to drag and drop a file to it, it says that the drive is write protected??

Sorry to be a pain, just learning this new rom thing :)

it worked the same for 2.1. you needed to push the enable button your your phone not pc.

Not to turn this in to a pissing contest, but i just tested 2.1 and you are right that usb storage has to be enabled but the three button huawei pop up has a transfer file button which enables the storage. Being new to the phone may leave people lost without the pop up. But again not a pissing contest, i just know it confused me. I knew debugging had to be on but not storage.

Could you get this mms fix to work for CM7 or at least so it installs so one of us could test it for you???

[4.13.2011] MetrOFF v1.1 | MetroPCS One-Flash-Fix [MMS] - xda-developers

I tied flashing it and it aborted with a scripting error, something about switching to Edify.

got it to work with cm6, but not cm7;) but all is good, i had check on [4.13.2011] MetrOFF v1.1 | MetroPCS One-Flash-Fix [MMS] - xda-developers and theres suppose to be another GB version being work on for cm7.

ok all good news...lolz got mms working for cm7, what i did first was open voice dialer start it and say "Open APNs" it should open a new window with a list of available APNs. you should see cricket and MetroPCS.

and i put these settings in... make sure you put in you phone number where it says username.

MetroPCS
Name: MetroPCS
APN: #777
Proxy: proxy.metropcs.net
Port: 3128
Username: your number@mymetropcs.com
Password: metropcs
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://mms.metropcs.net/mmsc:3128
MMS Proxy: <not set>
MMS Port: <not set>
MCC: 310
MNC: 016
Authentication Type: PAP Or CHAP
APN Type: *

And make sure you save the new setting, and make sure the dot is in the circle that says metro. next i install cwm 2xxxxx and i download MetrOFF.v1.1-MMS-[GB]-[CM_AOSP].zip. Than i booted into recovery and flashed it...no im able to send and recieve mms.:D:D:D:D:D

I uploaded a copy of the CM7-Ascend ROM with the mms fix applied and working. Only thing needed to make it work is:

  1. Download the zip.
  2. unzip it and move the inner folder to /clockworkmod/backup/ on your sdcard.
  3. Reboot in to recovery n scroll down to backup & restore, restore, select the folder you just put there and run restore.
  4. Reboot.
  5. Once booted goto the app drawer and open Voice Dialer.
  6. Say 'OPEN A P N', a box will pop up with MetroPCS and Cricket
  7. Choose your carrier.
  8. Edit the username and enter you # where it says 'yourphonenumber'.
  9. Click menu and save.
  10. Enjoy mms on 2.3.3 Gingerbread!!

isaac please feel free to use this to update your links, as I did nothing compared to the work you've done on CM7. I just thought this would make it easier for some of the newbies.

Note: All credit goes to isaac and all those who helped him bring us CM7 on the Ascend!!! All I did with nuttmeg's (nuttmeg figured it out) help was get it installed and made a backup and zipped it :)

CWM 3 will be needed to flash this zip.

Reported to not work, sorry guys I tried, I aint no pip or isaac lol

Gapps will still needed to be downloaded from the OP and installed.
