Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

now it comes out.....pfffff... well we have it for next time
I got bored this morning and was tired of flashing CWM back n forth myself n seeing so many having so many issues downgrading CWM I just converted it myself :D

New build of CM7 will be up prolly tonight too ;)

First off, thanks for the great ROM.. I seem to be having some screwy issues regarding the sd card and copying files via Win7x64.. Copying from Windows works when it wants to.. Sometimes after a reboot the files will show through file manager. Odd part is USUALLY whatever I copy will show on Windows once its mounted.. This is where it gets really weird.. I pushed a video onto the sdcard, plays fine.. USB mounted in windows, moved the file to a different directory, unmounted.. The ascend is still showing it in the old directory, AND it still plays.. Mount in windows, it shows the new directory, AND still plays..

What I've done..
1st Flash.. CWM 2.5.1.8 (I think.. the one i used for icarus and cm6)
Repartition 256ext 32 swap, reformat sd card after install..
flash metroff.. started getting the errors shortly after..

2nd Flash.. Diff SD card.. Upgraded to 3.0.2.8.. Same partition, installed, format, reboot, flash metroff.. same issues after a few mounts..

I've reinstalled the drivers, fixed permissions, multiple reformats (both through cwm and windows (fat32 4096 cyl), bashed my head lol.. Is this something that anyone else experiencing or am I just the lucky one :)

If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd GREATLY appreciate it..

Even though this isnt a dealbreaker for CM7 which is awesome btw, just irking me that i cant figure it out..

Thanks in advance..

EDIT: and after that long winded reply i just noticed the post above me said new build tonight.. maybe that'll fix it too :)

Having similar problems transfering files to sd. Card reader works fine but something seems to be going on with usb mount... CM7 50502011.

Wow, really? I was going to flash cm7 tonight but I'll wait until the new build comes out. I'll check back after Pacquiao-Mosley. :D

There was something that happened in CM7 that forced me to redo USB mounting/SDcard stuff. They seem to be in transition right now. I have some issues with it as well, but they seem to come and go. Hopefully, as CM7.1 approaches, fixes will start trickling down.

I think they're starting to abandon support for older devices and kernels (2.6.35 and below). We fall into both of those categories. I can't stress enough how important it is to get a working 2.6.32 kernel source. If I can have that, I can try and catch back up.

Okay, well I've done this a few times before but today I wanted to put CM7 on my ascend,so I download 05052011 from direct link and flash it as usual. It works fine until I get into the phone and realize it's asking me for a sim card. I've retried 3 times already so is there something I'm missing?

How or when will CM7 work with the cyanogen updater? Or the Rom updater even. I downloaded it because I thought it would help but so far a waste of space. Anyways. It looks like you and your buddies did a great job here!! Much respect. I love it!

it wont, CM7 for the Ascend is just a port, not officially supported by CM n his team but by isaacj87.

Well, I've officially hit the point where I can't really go on until Huawei releases the .32 M860 kernel source.

The main reason is Huawei has changed the .29 kernel so much to a point where there are thousands of lines of code. I can't go and change them all. I'm aware of the USB issues (as I'm having them too) and I really want/need a .32 to keep going.

If you guys want to keep the CM7 project alive on the Ascend, I'd suggest getting Huawei to do their part and releasing the .32 kernel.

Well, I just tried something and I found out something interesting.

I'm able to delete and add things to the SDcard, but CM7 isn't noticing the changes. This is a good thing because this means it's only not working at the OS level, not the hardware level. I'm sure somebody in CM-land has already been alerted and a fix will come soon.

I haven't noticed this error, is this just occuring with certain phones maybe or is this a mass OS issue?

Either your port is phenom and I'll always support you anyone I can, great work with everything you've done so far.

Just curious, I am currently running the 05042011 build, aside from the cam issues is there really any reason to upgrade to 05072011. I love my phone the way it is and havent had one issue for what I use it for. My programs go to sd card just fine, everything works!!!! Am I missing a reason to switch?

Check change log here: CM7-Ascend - Prepaid Android and see if there are any things you may want/need.

im running the 0505 build of cm7 to go to the most recent one when you flash doe you have to go through the process of starting over from scratch on the phone as in synching googlae contacs and redownloading apps? or is there a way to flash it and just turn it on and not have to do anything to set it up?

You can try just flashing over, I've done it w/o issue many times, and then like yesterday it dont work n had to start fresh. SO I say give it a try, but make backups to be safe.
