Just curious, I am currently running the 05042011 build, aside from the cam issues is there really any reason to upgrade to 05072011. I love my phone the way it is and havent had one issue for what I use it for. My programs go to sd card just fine, everything works!!!! Am I missing a reason to switch?

well since there is no reason to do a full wipe, then there is really no reason NOT to update(notice i said update) because that's actually what this is like rather than an entire new flash. You simply reboot into recovery and install both the ROM (CM7-05xx2011) and the gapps. Yes this will bring back the activation screen and you'll have to re-enter your gmail account but as for everything else it should all be the same. Exception, I guess because I haven't tested this as I use LP, would be is if you used the stock launcher and maybe some of the stock apps might not retain your user settings as you are overwriting these with the fresh installs.

This is possible after 0502 or 0504 I believe not sure but Isaacj said its not "usually" necessary to clean wipe its just suggested to reduce errors.

If the phone does lock up then just clean wipe and try again or back up and restore, ALWAYS MAKE A BACK UP, IT SHOULD BE A LAW LOL

can someone HELP PLEASE.. i flash the latest cm7 build..but the google apps are missing...i have no backup and no usb mounting..im u cwm 2xxxx..am i screwed...help me please..and thanks in advance..
 
i flashed gapps...but market was a no show..so i tryed to reflash gaps but usb mounting situtation wont allow me to transfer file to my phone

LOL. No problem. I actually just found that out last night when I was trying to fix the problem. The one good (and important) thing is that you can take stuff off easily. Like your pics and videos. :)
 
Hey guys I need some help, I installed CM7 and EVERYTHING is working for me except the Mounting issue. I was able to mount with no problem with Icarus and my stock ROM out now my computer recognizes the phone as a CD ROM DRIVE and it will not allow me to access it; When i try it say that the Drive may be Corrupted.

PLEASE HELP ME.

After connecting the usb cable, slide the notification bar open, then press usb connected (slect to copy files to/from your computer).

i did a clean install by doing a full wipe, some peoples just flash over the current build, and if you just flash over the current build theres no need to install gapps, but if you wipe everything you have to re install gapps...

in cm7 you will have to pull down the notification bar on the phone and tap usb mounting.Also did you format your card through cwm recovery...if you have a card reader i would use it in the pc and drag all files from the sd card to a new folder on desktop before formatting it in recovery.

I came across this error I believe last night when i was fidgeting with the drivers from cm7 issues and had them uninstalled.. download and extract this file.. METRO DRIVERS.rar Run Pcoptions.exe, uninstall drivers, reboot, then run setup.exe.. I think i went into usb drivers folder also and ran the one for my sys (64 bit or 32).. Worked after words.. btw, make sure your phone is not connected when you install to be safe..
