Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Thanks nuttmeg...so its the same as 2xxx...just wanted to make sure...because im having problems opening the file on my computer i keep getting an error message.. what do you suggest i open it up with..thanks again in advanced..
u should be dbl clicking the install file for your os, i.e. windows u need to use the install.windows.bat

linux uses the .sh file,

and mac uses the one labeled mac.

Thanks. Took me a while to get that SpareParts not a part of CM7, and actually another app... :)
So, here is my suggestion to Isaak: to create options of End button behavior in CM7 settings.
Isaac didnt create CM7 but ported it to the ascend. Those type of requests need to be directed to Cyanogenmod ;)

When I try to flash the 05072011 update, the thing says that the operation aborted and that the .zip is bad?? Can anyone help me through this?

sounds like you might need to redownload and then do a clean wipe before trying to install again. This should take care of all problems but again some phones are different so maybe you should be more specific with the steps you took and maybe we could further assist you :D

Like PlayGod said, I don't develop CM7.

Also, I have to ask. Where in my name...at all...do you see a "k"?

i've been looking into "modifying" this OS for my personal ROM, would you have any suggestions on where to find the information besides google lol I've been hunting the forums and found a small basic guide and it sounds fairly easy I i've taken MANY!! programming courses and love to hack anything i can but its always best I find to have a sort of "guide" to follow for the first couple times through

so, any suggestions on literature on ROM porting, editing, etc.? and software used if any?

I've also looked into custom kernels and how to edit these and didn't know if you had any further knowledge in this area as well

Thanks for all the amazing work you have done to make this phone something to hang on to rather than just a "phone"

check out the wiki isaac's stuff is on and Cyanogenmod's site ;). Also have a look around here n XDA.

You do it the same way you put it on in the first place. Wipe and flash.

you should, however, be able to install over your old ROM just like an update

UPDATE: tried to install as normal over old rom and have been stuck at the second Huawei screen for 15 minutes

Taking out battery and turning phone back on phone is still at huawei screen...looks like we will have to do a full wipe with this new update...:(

So, it means all data gone? I will need to download all apps, and data backups?

if you do a nandroid back up, and/or use Titanium Backup, you can restore all apps from a clean wipe...Work 99% of the time

but yes, to answer your question, a clean wipe would mean you basically brick your phone and start all over from CWM Recovery

I already said this: CWM-Ascend seems to have issues flashing builds on top of existing builds. I don't have this problem on my Optimus V running aospCMOD. On CWM-Ascend, YMMV.

I'm using the default settings put in place by Koush (CWM creator).

I always recommend wiping. Sometimes it won't boot, like in your case, but other times one thing messes up and you spend all day trying to trouble shoot it which takes longer than the initial wipe would have. Sorry yours didn't take but doing a wipe is always the safe bet.

You can back up your apps with titanium or an equivalent app. The market always saves all my apps and it just re-downloads them for me when setting up the gmail stuff. For contacts and such you should sync them with you gmail.

Couldn't find nandroid back up on the market. Any specific place?

This is the second time im flashing the phone, and it never re-download by it self. Always needed to go to my account and one by one to download all apps.
