Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Okay, I did a search and didn't see anyone with this problem...

I'm running CM7 ver. 05142011 and everything works fine, except for one thing. Sometimes I'll long-press something on the home screen, highlight it (like you're moving it) except if I don't move it it stays highlighted, and the screen is frozen. The only thing I can do is reboot. Is this a common bug? Should I install the newest build?
 
lol ok ran into a prob already. on the instuction guide when i went to download z4root 1.3.0 apk it told me it cant be downloaded because the file isnt supported...suggestions?

it works on my phone 1st time i did it, excellent job on tutorials and programs. i had no prior experience and everything worked perfect for me 1st time thru:)
 
k so i just learned how to root my phone and i got the 4zroot on my huawei ascend. is that the same as the cynagon mod and the icarus? and wats better?

No, not the same. Z4root will give you supervisor permission on your phone, which will allow you to run lots of apps you normally couldn't, which in turn will allow you to mod your phone.

I've had the best luck with CyanogenMod7 (CM7 is what everyone calls it), which is a user-created ROM for your phone, taking you from Android 2.1 to 2.3, which will let you run even more apps, not to mention let your phone run a bit better.

Before you try anything tricky, READ EVERYTHING ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. Listen to these guys, use their experience to save you time and headaches.
 
Ok, I've still got this problem after installing CM7 05212011. If I go to long press a widget or something, then let up off it too soon, the widget is still stuck highlighted, and I'm unable to get anything to work. Irritating, because my finger slips too often as it is, or I'll remember too late that a widget needs tapped instead of long pressed, and let off just before it highlights. Freezes me every time.

Have you tried going to CyanogenMod settings/Performance/click ok/CPU settings/change Max CPU frequency & Available governors. should help.
i have mine set @ Smartass/ 710 MHz. hope this helps...

Yanno as stupid as this sounds, no offense intended, I've notice anytime the screen is left on and something happens to get press too long, just right, etc, etc, bla, bla, bla, that weird things happen, worse being the phone locked up. Sorry to inform you all, but that will be the result on any release be it a OTA, Out of the Box, 3rd party ROM.

I know the majority is on windows, dont expect more from your mobile devices than you do you computers. And if you are spending more on your mobile devices than you computers, well stop and re-evaluate your priorities and life.

I do spend more time on my phone, but I work some 12 hours a day. I'm a geotechnical/environmental driller, so the only time I see a computer is during the couple of hours I can squeeze in after putting my daughter to bed at night, that is if I don't want to get anything else done. If I had a desk job, I would never have gotten an android. As it is, it's my biggest link to the net for the most part.

I hear what you're saying, and I understand that it's not a computer. And I'm definitely not knocking CM7, I love it. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to fix the problem I was having. I don't exactly have dainty, sensitive fingers, and they tend to over or under press too often.

Lots of fluids and lots of aspirin before passing out for that hangover, I always had the best luck with Dr. Goodys :)

Just press on the backup(arrow)button when a widget gets "Frozen" or stuck w/the halo or box surrounding it.That should do the trick.

I hope that worked.I stumbled across that trick a while back when I had more time on my hands than I knew what to do with.It's nothing that's in the user manual, so it's not as if you were missing a step or making a mistake.

It all depends on the phone, if it works better with cm6 or cm7.
Just like Over Clocking, some phone can handle higher clock setting than others.
It seems as if not all phone are built alike :eek:
 
Is there a way to reset the APN for cricket? all of a sudden I can't receive MMS and I am not re flashing again,I've done it once since I couldn't receive MMS, it just says unsuccessful, i can send them however
